00:02It's a moment of reflection as Bondi's spectacular coastline is transformed into a
00:08clifftop gallery.
00:09Sculpture of the Sea is the most exciting event in Australia, and yeah, it's such a
00:13thrill and an honour.
00:14A hundred local and international artists are displaying their work between Bondi and
00:19Tamarama.
00:20Among them, a sea of hearts standing as a tragic reminder of the women killed by their
00:25partner.
00:26There's 60 hearts here, one that represents each woman killed by violence in Australia
00:31this year.
00:32It was important for us to reflect that number.
00:35I want young women to know that it's not a normal thing.
00:40The annual event had its genesis 30 years ago when volunteers launched it from their
00:45lounge room.
00:46We hustled together at $11,500 and on a $400 marketing budget, 25,000 people showed up.
00:52It's become a Sydney institution drawing scores of crowds.
00:56The sculptures are really fun.
00:59They're cool.
01:00This year's walk includes exhibits ranging from sky high monuments to a single grain of
01:06sand.
01:07You can actually see it.
01:08We need to like zoom in.
01:09You might need to squint a little bit, but it's definitely visible.
01:13More than 400,000 people are expected to come and visit over the next three weeks, taking in
01:17the art, but also the views.
01:19It's just incredible every time I do it.
01:22It's one of the great walks of the world, I think.
01:23A great walk, now even better.
