00:00In the United States, analysts asserted that the Trump administration is seeking to destabilize
00:05democratic-led states by installing fuel using immigration agents known as ICE in an effort to
00:13manipulate and win the midterm elections. Our New York correspondent Henry Camelo reports.
00:21Despite suffering from his lowest ever approval ratings, U.S. President Donald Trump is fighting
00:28to win the midterm elections by any means necessary. Slater's strategy ordained the largest ever
00:35deployment of ICE agents in California for a 45-day period, a move that analysts believe
00:43goes beyond a mere operation against undocumented immigrants. President Trump has been attempting
00:50for months now to make sure that he impacts, that he suppresses the vote of the Democrats,
00:58of minorities especially. He knows that there's a lot at stake come the first week of November.
01:05Trump's ploys include the arbitrary withdrawing of electoral districts, attempts to suppress
01:12the vote, and requiring every voter to show their passport at the polls. They all failed.
01:20His last bastion of his effort to suppress the vote and to impact the midterms will be to have ICE
01:30near polling places so they can intimidate people. He will have some people feel that he may even bring
01:36in the military, which would be completely illegal and which I predict is not going to happen. But there's
01:42a chance that after the elections that he would try to take, seize some of the ballots, which he's already
01:50attempted to do, in fact did, in Georgia and a sheriff did in California. Even though the absolute power
01:58Donald Trump has held has allowed him to take unconstitutional measures, undermining the electoral system
02:06could ultimately land him in legal trouble. Aside from the efforts the Trump administration is making
02:15to intimidate voters and interfere in the midterm elections, there are laws in the United States
02:21that explicitly prohibit this. There are many state laws, but two federal laws specifically forbid federal
02:29officials, the military or ICE agents from stationing themselves where voting is taking place.
02:36The penalty for violating this law is a fine or five years in prison. Another federal law also
02:44establishes the illegality of attempting to intimidate voters. According to the latest polls, American
02:52outrage over the high cost of living, high gas prices and the war against Iran has proven far more
03:00powerful than Trump's strategies to suppress the Democratic vote.
03:05It shows the weakness of the Trump administration overall, that they need to rely on fear and they
03:09need to incite fear in the voters to try to kind of manipulate the election results does not really
03:14show me that he's confident in actually himself and the Republican Party being able to do well during
03:18these midterms.
03:19Trump's attempts to, you know, hinder people's democratic democratic right to vote, people will still go out,
03:26people will still show that, you know, they oppose the Trump's agenda.
03:29Social organizations are already taking security measures to prevent potential election fraud this
03:37November 3rd. As part of a new mobilization by the No Kings movements, millions of people across the
03:44country will take to the streets this weekend to defend their vote, upholding the principle that American
03:51democracy belongs solely to the people. Pablo Daniel Joe and Henry Camello, Telesur, New York.
