00:00In this video, I will show you how to fix Steam error code 102. To get started, if you do
00:06have
00:06Steam opened, what you want to do is close this down. And once you've done that, you want to come
00:11to the bottom right hand corner of your taskbar, click onto the show hidden icons arrow. And if
00:16you see Steam showing up here, just right click onto it and click exit Steam. So once you've done
00:21that, and you've fully quit out of Steam, what you want to do from your desktop is come down to
00:25your search box in the taskbar at the bottom. In here, you want to type view network connections
00:31and then open up view network connections underneath best match. Now, once you've done that, what you
00:36want to do is select your wifi or ethernet connection and then right click onto your connection. And from
00:42this menu that comes up, you want to come down and click onto properties. So once you've done that,
00:46and you've got the properties window opens, what you want to do is look for internet protocol version
00:51full. So you can see that's here, click to select it, and then come down and click onto properties.
00:57What you want to do now is come down to the DNS server section and select the option to use
01:02the
01:02following DNS server addresses. Now in the preferred DNS server, you want to put 8.8.8.8.8.
01:10And in alternative, you want to put 8.8.4.4. So that's for the Google DNS, which is a
01:17more reliable,
01:18faster server. And what you can then do is take the box to validate settings upon exit,
01:23click okay, and close this all down. So once you've done that, and you've closed this all down,
01:27the next thing you're going to want to do is come back to your search box. And this time you
01:31want to
01:31type command prompt and underneath best match, you want to right click onto command prompt and run this
01:36as administrator. Once the command prompt window opens, you want to type the following command,
01:41which is ipconfig space forward slash, and then flush DNS or one word. So it looks like this
01:47hit enter on your keyboard, and that's going to flush your DNS. What you can then do is type exit,
01:52hit enter to come out a command prompt. And then what I would recommend doing is just restarting your
01:56computer or laptop to apply the changes. Once that's done, what you can do is relaunch steam,
02:01and it should now successfully load and you should be able to play games now without the error code 102.
02:07So that is how to fix steam error code 102. Thanks for watching, and I'll see you in the next
02:13video.
