00:00In this video I will show you how to download games fast on Steam. So I'll be showing you
00:06how to download games on Steam and a couple of tips of how you can make it fast. Maybe your
00:10download is just going really slow or it's stuck at 99% or something like that but there's a few
00:15things you can do to fix this problem. So the first thing you're going to want to do if you
00:19do have Steam opens currently is just go ahead and pause your downloading game and what you can
00:24then do is close down Steam. Make sure as well that you do come down to the bottom right hand
00:28corner click onto the arrow which says show hidden icons and if you see the Steam logo showing up
00:34right click onto it and then click exit Steam. So once you've done that and you've fully come out
00:39of Steam what you want to do first is come down to your search box in the task bar at
00:43the bottom
00:43and in here you want to type view network connections. Underneath best match you want to
00:49click on view network connections and that's going to open a window like this and from here you want
00:54to find your Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection right click onto it and then come and click onto properties.
01:01Now from the properties window you want to find internet protocol version 4 so that's this one here
01:06click to select it and then come down and click onto properties. Once you've done that what you want
01:12to do is come down to this section here and click the box to use the following DNS server addresses.
01:17In the preferred DNS server you want to put 8.8.8.8.8 and in the alternative DNS server
01:26you want to put
01:268.8.4.4. So this is Google's DNS which is a lot more faster and more secure and reliable
01:34so what you
01:35want to do is enter that and then click ok. Once you've done that you can close this all down
01:40and then
01:40what you want to do is restart your computer and then start Steam. So once you're back in Steam there's
01:46a
01:46couple more things you want to change. So once you've got Steam opened and you're logged in if
01:50you come and click on Steam in the top left hand corner and from here you want to come down
01:54and
01:55click onto settings. Once you're in your settings what you want to do first is come over to the
01:59left hand side and click onto downloads and what I would recommend doing first is changing your
02:05download region at the top. So if you click the drop down box you want to select a download
02:10server or download region which is close to yourself. Now because I'm in the UK I would select
02:15UK London but of course you can select whichever one is close to yourself. Once you've done that
02:21you want to restart Steam and then what you want to do is come back into your settings,
02:26come back into downloads and now what you want to do is scroll down a bit until you see the
02:30option
02:30to clear download cache. So what you want to do now as you can see it says clearing the download
02:35cache may
02:36resolve issues downloading or starting apps. So if you actually click the clear cache button here
02:41what this is going to do is clear your download cache and restart steam. Just note that you do
02:46need to log back in as well so just click confirm that's going to clear your cache and restart steam
02:51and once you log in you should now have a better download speed. So of course you can just come
02:56back to the game from your games library click the install button and you should now notice a
03:00improvement in how quickly your game downloads. So that is how to download steam games fast.
