00:00Meanwhile, there'll be no return for Jalen Hurts. He's placed on injured reserve with blood cots. This is going to
00:05be a lot more than one week. Of course, we saw this happen to Victor Wimbayama. We've seen it happen
00:09to Chris Bosh. It's happened to players in both college and professional sports. And it's usually a return to action,
00:15but it's extended. And then the question becomes, if Philadelphia can't get back on track, what ends up happening with
00:21Hurts?
00:21Now, here is the good news from this. There's the silver lining, Joe, which is the Eagles, after all of
00:26these years of holding Tanner McKee and not trading Tanner McKee to other teams, are finally going to give him
00:32a good look. I'm very curious to see how he does. He has arguably been one of the most valuable
00:38backup quarterbacks in the NFL. They've wanted to see what he could do. Anytime he plays in the preseason or
00:44regular season, he does well, but he's finally going to get this test now.
00:47The only question is, without Lane Johnson, without their starting four running backs, he's sort of up against it going
00:54into every game. But credit to Philadelphia, as bad as they've looked and all these injuries that they've looked, Joe,
00:59they've been within one play the last two weeks of winning games. So not time to write them off just
01:03yet.
01:05No, but I think the situation is a very difficult one, as you're alluding to. You don't have Lane Johnson.
01:10You don't have Cam Juergens. You don't have Saquon Barkley healthy. You don't have Devonta Smith really healthy, even though
01:14he's going to try to play today.
01:15So what are we throwing the key into, is the big question. And yes, the Eagles have found ways to
01:22lose these last couple weeks, but I think the loss is the thing to target and really discuss, because losing
01:28is contagious just like winning is contagious.
01:30And the Eagles sit at 2-3 right now, and Hurts is going to miss at least the next four
01:33weeks. And when this news came out on my shows on Fandom NFL on YouTube, I was talking about, be
01:38prepared to be without him for the rest of the season.
01:40And people said, well, isn't that being a little hyperbolic? And aren't you kind of putting the cart before the
01:45horse?
01:45In which I said, no, because this is a very serious situation with a guy that you have a lot
01:49invested in.
01:50He's your franchise quarterback. And this year is starting to look like it doesn't belong to the Philadelphia Eagles.
01:56And you're right. Maybe this is a chance for you to evaluate the rest of the talent on the team.
01:59I was actually very high on the guy they drafted, Cole Payton.
02:02I thought he's a very interesting, raw talent, skilled quarterback, a lefty who could really sling it,
02:06big guy who can really move as well and get out there and get yards all over the place.
02:12Very similar to Josh Allen in terms of just a bigger quarterback who can run and really sling it.
02:17Yeah, you know, played in a smaller conference and all that stuff, but a very interesting athlete.
02:20Sounds familiar, doesn't it? So you're going to get some evaluation of some of these quarterbacks
02:24potentially over the next couple of weeks and see how things go.
02:26But if you're in fantasy leagues and you have Jalen Hurts, you have to really look at yourself in the
02:30mirror,
02:30especially in super flex season, go, OK, I need a more permanent solution
02:33because I don't know when or if Jalen Hurts is going to return this year healthy
02:38and what the Eagles are going to look like when that juncture happens.
02:41So I think it's a very tricky situation right now. The Eagles find themselves.
02:43And for those ancillary pieces, the Smiths, the Barclays, all those other pieces you might have,
02:47also a very difficult situation where I think you should be looking for other options.
