00:03Russia's President Vladimir Putin has reportedly proposed a three-way summit with U.S. President
00:08Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping next month to negotiate an end to the full-scale
00:13invasion of Ukraine, according to U.S. media. The proposal was reportedly made during a phone
00:18call between Putin and Trump on the 9th of October. The Wall Street Journal reported on
00:23Sunday that the Kremlin suggested holding the meeting on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific
00:28Economic Cooperation Summit in Shenzhen on the 18th and 19th of November. A senior U.S. official
00:34told the newspaper that Trump has not agreed to attend but could be receptive to the proposal.
00:40There was no indication that Ukraine would participate in the proposed talks.
00:44The prospect of such a meeting comes as Trump seeks to revive negotiations with Moscow,
00:50arguing that imposing further economic pressure on Russia could undermine efforts to end the war.
00:55The European Commission stressed any solution that is found for Ukraine needs to respect its
01:01territorial integrity. If Putin would like to end this war, he can just stop this war today and
01:09the war could be over today. We have unfortunately seen it recently in the context of the announced
01:16energy ceasefire that Russia has shown no signs of wanting to fulfill it and go in that direction.
01:24The spokesperson also added that EU leaders have made clear at last week's European summits
01:29that Europe has a key role to play in a future settlement and will also defend its interests.
