00:11It is time for the main event.
00:13And will these two men lead Monday Night Raw tonight as the new World Tag Team Champions?
00:23This tag team contest is scheduled for one show,
00:26and it is for the World Tag Team Championship.
00:31Introducing the challengers at a combined weight of 495 pounds,
00:36they're the tag team of Edge and Randy Orton.
00:41If Edge and Orton are successful, it'll be Edge's 13th World Tag Team title ring,
00:48which is unprecedented in the WWE.
00:51Edge has already qualified for the Money in the Bank.
00:54King Edge and Orton are on a roll.
00:56Are you ready?
01:00You think you can tell us what to do?
01:04You think you can tell us what to wear?
01:08You think that you're better?
01:12You better get ready.
01:16You better get ready.
01:17You better get ready.
01:19You better get ready.
01:31I like it.
01:33Champion, the Heartbreak Kid, Shawn Michaels.
01:40Well, there's no doubt in my mind that earlier tonight,
01:43the team-rated RKO did a great job in playing a bad scene in Cena's head.
01:50And, of course, the new and improved DX three-disc DVD set Kings out now.
01:55I looked at it a couple of days ago and loved the part where DX took over
02:00Monday Night Raw.
02:01Remember that?
02:04And, you know, it's the great outtakes on there, listen.
02:10The team's here, and what must be going through the mind of John Cena.
02:20And it is the tag team partner from West Newbury, Massachusetts,
02:24bringing in a 248 pounds.
02:27He is the other half of the world tag team champions
02:30and the WWE Champion, John Cena.
02:37You know, first things first, John Cena and Shawn Michaels have got a success
02:41to defend the world tag team titles here tonight on Raw.
02:45But the irony of this whole situation is, is that the tag champions, Michaels and Cena,
02:51also represents the WWE Champion, John Cena, and the number one contender for the WWE title in Shawn Michaels.
03:03Well, that's right, because Shawn Michaels will face John Cena for the championship at WrestleMania.
03:10But tonight, they need to coexist if they want to remain tag team champions.
03:16You know, I haven't seen King, in my view, the, you know, too much animosity, if any, between Cena and
03:24Shawn Michaels.
03:25Right, what did I say earlier?
03:27You won't see it, nor will John Cena.
03:30He'll never see it coming.
03:32But JR, how much do you and I talk about, in this profession, a guy's track record?
03:39Well, I think Team Rated RKO showed us Shawn Michaels' track record, dating all the way back to 1992, with
03:47his partners.
03:49Diesel, X-Pac, Marty Jannetty.
03:52Okay, I understand that, but Team Rated RKO also made sure that those moments were taken out of context to
03:59some degree as well.
04:02Nonetheless, I don't know how you take a super kick to the jaw out of context.
04:06Well, Shawn Michaels starting out against Edge here, World Tag Team titles on the line.
04:10This is a one fall match.
04:12This is our main event here tonight.
04:14We're live on Monday Night Raw from Fresno State University.
04:22And the crowd showing their support for Shawn Michaels, who attempts to hit block there, but
04:27that was blocked, and the Knife Edge, a la the Nature Boy Ric Flair.
04:32And the Knife Edge, a lot of the Nature Boy Ric Flair.
04:36And the Knife Edge, a lot of the Knife Edge, a lot of the Knife Edge, a lot of the
04:39Knife Edge.
04:39And that one, I think is changing Edge's mindset on many things.
04:47Knife goes to the arm ringer, again a one fall match.
04:50All these World Tag Team titles, our main event, a match that we've been thinking about for
04:55seven days now, and a good form shot by Edge, very often gymnastic athlete.
05:01And makes the tag quickly to Randy Orton.
05:03And both Edge and Orton have taken the opportunity tonight to plant a seed in the mind of John Cena.
05:11And Orton missed with that elbow drop, and Michaels and Cena make a seamless tag.
05:18And Cena in, hard shots by the street fighting John Cena, turning Orton around.
05:26A 360 from that right hand, and Cena the powerhouse, WWE Champion.
05:34Wow.
05:35Fishing and suplexed by Cena, the Cougar.
05:37And Cena got a near fall on Randy Orton.
05:41Well JR, let me just warn you, don't be surprised by that, what you call it, the seamless tag.
05:46Believe me, if it's gonna happen, John Cena and Shawn Michaels will look like
05:52the perfect tag team.
05:54There won't appear to be anything wrong whatsoever, and then when you least expect it,
05:58Shawn is right.
05:59Well, I just hope that doesn't happen, because I'm taking Shawn Michaels as a man of his word.
06:05He said he would have seen us back until WrestleMania.
06:08I heard Marty Jannetty took Shawn Michaels at his word when Shawn said there's
06:13absolutely no problem with the Rockers.
06:16First thing you know, Marty Jannetty was being thrown through a glass plate window.
06:21Or a glass plate glass plate, either way you look at it,
06:24he got bloody.
06:25Yeah.
06:25Either way you want to peel that onion.
06:28John Cena got caught in the corner.
06:31Cena looking to make a tag here, but nonetheless, Edge and Orton, he'll go, that's the way.
06:39I know you think that's certainly not gonna be the case tonight, J.R., but
06:43I don't think it's gonna be the case between now and WrestleMania.
06:46Possibility.
06:47Of course it's a possibility, and things can change, you're right.
06:51The one thing I will agree with you on is what happens, you and I are going to see it
06:55coming.
06:55One, two, three, two, three.
06:58Hard shot.
06:58I said that earlier.
06:59No, I agree with that point, that's a very good point that you make.
07:02Nice European up there, John Cena, I think battered and fried here.
07:07And Orton, hard right hands to the head of the WWE Champion.
07:11Again, if you just joined us, the World Tag Team Titles are on the line.
07:16Batman, Randy Orton, and Edge attempting to regain the goal.
07:19Well, let me just say this about Randy Orton and Edge.
07:22You know, we're talking mostly about John Cena and Shawn Michaels not getting along.
07:25But for the past few weeks, Orton and Edge haven't exactly been on the same page,
07:30have they?
07:31They both have their agenda.
07:32They're, I guess that's the trappings of youth and ambition.
07:38And Cena fighting back.
07:40Orton getting into a fist fight here with Cena.
07:43And right now, Orton is winning the battle after beating Cena down earlier.
07:47And now they have a choke right there, looking at it.
07:52Cena and Orton lost the tag titles four weeks ago, back May.
07:57That's a couple of huge egos right there too, as well as Edge and Orton.
08:01I don't think there's any doubt that each one of those guys, both Orton and Edge,
08:05think that they, respectively, are the number one man on that team.
08:09I'm sure they do.
08:10And I think these two men, Orton and Edge,
08:11can do anything to regain the World Tag Team titles.
08:14The prestige that goes with it, the money that goes with it.
08:17Let's also, don't forget this, Edge is guaranteed he's gonna be a part of WrestleMania.
08:21Randy Orton thus far has not got himself a guaranteed slot at WrestleMania 23.
08:28He's the only man in this match that does it.
08:30It's big too.
08:31Look out Randy.
08:32And a nice counter by John Cena.
08:34But more importantly, can Cena make the tag?
08:37Michaels is ready to receive the tag.
08:41Cena looks bleary-eyed.
08:44That's on Saturday nights like that down in Oklahoma.
08:47Those bleary-eyed nights where you're trying to find your direction.
08:49Well, Shawn Michaels, or John Cena, is going in the wrong direction.
08:53Now I think he realizes where Shawn is, and he's there.
08:58Cena makes the tag, and Michaels, a fresh Shawn Michaels.
09:04It's a battle-tested Randy Orton flying forearm and a nip up by Shawn Michaels.
09:09And one half of DX doing a little DX style with that inverted atomic drop.
09:16Scoot slam by Michaels and the Heartbreak Kid, the showstopper.
09:22The main event, as he calls it.
09:26And Michaels with that elbow right in the sternum of Randy Orton.
09:31He's never inverted atomic drop.
09:34It is, put it over the top by John Cena.
09:37His head landing on the floor right out here in front of us.
09:41We've had enough action.
09:43Look at Michaels.
09:44Michaels tuning up the band here.
09:46Shawn Michaels tuning up the band, Randy Orton.
09:51Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
09:52Orton avoided that kick, but the kick was almost delivered into the face of John Cena.
09:58Now, King, that was an accident, wasn't it?
10:01This match will continue.
10:03My.
10:05We are live,
10:07Fresno State University World Tag Team Titles on the line.
10:10Shawn Michaels, John Cena defending against Team Rated RKO.
10:14It's Edge and Michaels in the ring.
10:16And my God, the action during the commercial break was absolutely scintillating.
10:21I'm amazed that these two young men aren't just completely spent like you said, JR.
10:25Edge working on Michaels' back.
10:26Well, here's what happened perfectly.
10:28Before the break, if you remember, it looked like Shawn Michaels was gonna.
10:32What did it look like?
10:33Who was Shawn Michaels gonna kick, JR?
10:35You tell me.
10:36All right.
10:37I think Michaels is obviously gonna try to super kick Randy Orton.
10:42Well, during the stare down, Orton and Edge took the opportunity to pretty much take over in this match.
10:50And it has been a hell of a night here as referee Mike Kiyota asking Shawn Michaels if he wants
10:55to give it up.
10:59And I'll tell you what, what do you think about that man not happy about the board of directors considering
11:04the fact that there may be a special official at WrestleMania.
11:08And that's right, they say it's a possibility about that.
11:10But man, no possibilities, no maybes about that maneuver.
11:15Michaels lower back taking a pounding and also the back of his head.
11:19There's a cover by Edge.
11:20And Edge, you saw how close the referee's hand was to hitting the canvas for the three count.
11:26There's no contemplation about what we're seeing here, a main event, as Wharton stumps every
11:33appendage on Shawn Michaels for the World Tag Team titles.
11:39One fall matchup and Wharton and Edge are hungry to regain World Tag Team gold by helpless Michaels,
11:47just got kneed right in the spine.
11:49It could be, it should, but it's not.
11:51One, two, three, two, three, two, one, Michael's able to kick out.
11:57Well, Randy Orton just bearing down on Shawn Michaels.
12:02Watch that, then it doesn't become a choke hold, of course, Wharton wouldn't mind.
12:08John Cena wanting to get into that, wanting to get into the ring, but
12:13Wharton's got other ideas, Wharton's gonna try to ground Shawn Michaels here.
12:18Smart move by Randy Orton, tripping the neck.
12:22Putting a twerk on that neck of Shawn Michaels.
12:25Of course, we all remember Michaels was away from the WWE about four years with a bad back.
12:31This Orton is an amazing athlete, JR.
12:33No doubt.
12:33Hey, come on, come on.
12:34Youngest WWE Champion in history is Randy Orton, a third generation star.
12:40And Orton continues to put the pressure on Michaels.
12:43Shoulders are down.
12:44And Michaels just barely, apparently, got his left shoulder off the canvas before the referee's three count.
12:50Who do you think's the number one man on team rated RKO?
12:53Is it Orton?
12:54Is it Edge?
12:54Look out here.
12:56Well, I'll tell you what, it was based on WrestleMania 23.
12:59On the Edge, I don't know.
13:02I think Orton wouldn't agree with you.
13:04Of course not.
13:08Man, what a match up here tonight, live.
13:10We are live tonight.
13:11We're seeing us live from Preston State University, Monday Night Raw.
13:16World Tag title is on the line.
13:20And one of the champions, Shawn Michaels, that young man from San Antonio in trouble.
13:25Or Randy Orton makes a cover.
13:26He's got a long two count, a serious two count.
13:31And this is a one ball match for the World Tag Team Championship.
13:35That man, Edge, his partner Randy Orton, team rated RKO, lost the titles four weeks ago.
13:42They intend on winning them back here tonight.
13:45And they're doing a good job.
13:47They're doing a very good job of keeping Shawn Michaels isolated in their own corner.
13:52Team rated RKO and, well, Shawn, he's not able to make a tag.
13:56He's gonna be in a bad, bad way here.
13:58That sleeper is a very effective maneuver.
14:00And Michaels starts fading away here.
14:02Again, the neck is crimped.
14:04Remember, that was a sequence of events started by Randy Orton's reverse chin lock.
14:08Cripping the neck of Shawn Michaels, restricting the flow of blood to the brain.
14:12And Michaels is now fading.
14:13How far will Michaels fade?
14:16Can Michaels regroup here?
14:17He needs a tag in the worst way.
14:21One fall match, and it's been one hell of a night here, I'll tell you that.
14:25You know Shawn Michaels gotta be, here's the word we used to use.
14:28He's gotta be conflicted as well.
14:31Shawn Michaels knew going into this match whether or not he was gonna.
14:34Uh-oh.
14:36And Michaels placing Edge a straddle of the top rope is the best way I can explain it.
14:44Shawn had to know, well, I'm wondering now, can Shawn make the tag here?
14:50Michaels needs to make a tag, and so does Edge.
14:54The world tag team titles on the line, live tonight, here on Monday Night Raw.
14:59And John Cena stretching and straining, he's got the head, and it is.
15:03It's got the tag, and so did Michaels.
15:05And here comes the champ.
15:07John Cena and Randy Orton to leave him in now.
15:11The pace quickens, the sense of urgency that spawned upon this ring.
15:16Look at John Cena, he is on fire.
15:20The WWE Champion.
15:23Yeah.
15:25You can't see me.
15:29But Orton is gonna see a little 5-0 shuffle.
15:34One half of the world tag team champions, John Cena asserting himself here very physically.
15:40There's the F.U.
15:41Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, and look at Edge rescuing.
15:48And now all four men are in the ring, with the referee down.
15:54It is chaotic here, with the world tag team titles.
15:58Look out here, what's this?
15:59Cena and Orton.
16:01Yes.
16:02Paladin Orton taking over the top.
16:04Michaels knocked to the outside by Edge.
16:08Randy Orton's on the outside.
16:10Look at Edge.
16:11I smell a spear.
16:13I feel a spear coming.
16:15Edge's eyes say spear.
16:16His heart says spear, but Cena caught him.
16:19Cena caught Edge in the F.U. position.
16:24Wait a minute.
16:25Orton brought that belt to the ring.
16:27And Michaels used the championship title belt to hit Edge.
16:32Uh-oh.
16:35Michaels just outsmarted Orton.
16:37Edge thinks that it was Randy Orton that hit Edge in the back with a tight team title belt.
16:43Well, Edge felt that belt across his back when he turned around.
16:46Orton was holding it.
16:47Wait a minute.
16:48Where's Edge going?
16:52Good Lord.
16:53What a shot by Michaels.
16:56Edge is leaving his partner.
17:02And Michaels and Cena have retained the tag team title.
17:09Here are your winners and still the world tag team champion.
17:15The Heartbreak King, Shawn Michaels and John Cena.
17:21Keep your eyes on Michaels.
17:24Watch him like a hug.
17:25Look at Cena.
17:28Well, you know what, everybody's saying Michaels has got to stand Cena in the back.
17:33I'll have to see it to believe it.
17:37But I do agree with what you said, King.
17:39Look at this.
17:40That's what it's all about for Michaels and Cena at WrestleMania, the WWE Championship.
17:46And there's the championship right between these two young men.
17:50But for now, it belongs to John Cena.
17:54Let him hate, I dropped your whole plan.
17:56Lay your ass down for the three seconds tag.
18:00John Cena holding the WWE title along.
18:03Is that a little bit of, a little respect there for Shawn Michaels.
18:08Look at Michaels, right there.
18:10It's gone, baby, it's gone.
