00:00From news and notes to the coaches and players for America's team, let us go Inside the Star on 105
00:07.3 The Fan.
00:11Look at the early turnout.
00:13Damn.
00:14Look at this.
00:15Filling up.
00:16See, we come over to my area, my hood, we get the biggest turnout.
00:20Hey, how far is this?
00:21How was your drive home yesterday?
00:23Oh, yeah, the pee-pee ride.
00:25We'll get to it, Neighborhood Watch.
00:27Okay.
00:27Oh.
00:28We'll get real local.
00:29It was that bad.
00:32We need to put it in the watch segment.
00:33No, no, no, no, no.
00:357.40 as Pepe brought me home with the dead car battery.
00:40But you come over here, my area, Mesquite Garden, this is where the real Tolos turn out.
00:45So, not surprising.
00:47Firehouse Thursday edition.
00:49Firehouse number one in Forney on East Amy.
00:53We got Tolo jerseys.
00:55We got G-Bag flags.
00:56Ivan, what are these big good things here?
00:59I never know of my in-laws.
01:00What are these things called?
01:02Patuse?
01:04Pantuse.
01:05These things always look like the driest things, but every Hispanic family has these big things that people love.
01:13Listen, I've noticed that the marriage between Hispanic and Italian pastries, very similar, very dry.
01:21Well, I'm not saying.
01:22Very dry.
01:23No, hang on.
01:23Those are not.
01:24I'm not saying.
01:25They look like it, but they're not.
01:26No, they look like it.
01:26They're not.
01:26No, because those are.
01:27They look like you.
01:28When you look at them, you're like, is that.
01:30And then when you bite into those, those are like moist.
01:32So, y'all got something like that?
01:35Not always.
01:36It's called a Shuyadel.
01:38Okay, I've seen that in Sopranos.
01:39Yeah, but it's spelled completely different.
01:43Really?
01:43From Pantuse and Shuyadel, it's spelled different?
01:46No, no, no, no.
01:46That doesn't sound like that.
01:47It's spelled different.
01:49It's spelled different as how you would pronounce it.
01:51Okay.
01:51Like how you would read it.
01:53Yeah.
01:53Like researche.
01:55I was trying to put him in my notes last night, and I'm like, this is.
01:58I'm not going to go look it up.
02:00Z-R.
02:01You can write him down as that.
02:02Z-R.
02:02Z-R.
02:03All right, so Jerry Jones was not on with us on Tuesday.
02:09Yesterday was Wednesday?
02:12Yes, it was Wednesday, yes.
02:14So, how did the things align in terms of owners' meetings that Jerry and them told us they were going
02:20to attend?
02:21But yesterday was Wednesday.
02:23Yeah, I think it was a multi-day.
02:25Yeah, connecting flights.
02:26Yeah, connecting flights.
02:27Yeah, so they were out.
02:29I think they were out there Tuesday, too.
02:31So, Tuesday, Wednesday, they were having meetings.
02:33What did they meet about?
02:35Various issues.
02:36How to make more money.
02:37I feel like there's two in the season that they have.
02:39How to cover up the Jalen Hurts' lungs.
02:42Man, that was a good timing.
02:43No, you don't need to cover it up.
02:44Roger Goodell has to say, bring it on.
02:47I welcome any investigation into it.
02:49Brian Schottenheimer will join us tomorrow at 7.15.
02:52But the lead headline from this, Bobby, somehow got the audio that Choppy and I were looking for.
02:58Jerry Jones on the disappointing season so far.
03:01And what about buying versus selling?
03:03Not only do I have expectations, I have a really sound basis of saying we're better than that.
03:11And we can improve in the areas that have really frustrated us, especially last week.
03:17What does the state of the NFC sort of affect their thinking ahead of their timeline?
03:20It gives me a lot of promise.
03:25I see opportunity, and I see it legitimately because I know the things that we have the potential to do,
03:35both with our talent, both with our schemes, adjustments.
03:40I've seen us do in the spring the kinds of adjustments that you might want to do between the halves.
03:47So, yeah, I've got a lot of – I'm frustrated, and I'm disappointed that we're sitting here with this record,
03:53but I'm sure I know that we have in place.
03:57It's internal.
03:59It's from within.
04:00The mirrors is what everybody's got to look for.
04:05I didn't hear buying selling in that.
04:06He said, looking at the trade deadline, they asked him, and he said,
04:09I look and I see opportunity.
04:10That's what he said.
04:11Okay.
04:13The quote that I wrote down was,
04:15I'll be real clear.
04:15I could see being active at the trade deadline if it was something that could help the team this year.
04:21Asked if he could see them being a seller, which RJ has brought up behind the scenes a couple days
04:26ago.
04:27No.
04:28Quickly, he said no.
04:29He said, I don't see that, but I don't rule it out now.
04:32If someone comes along – basically what he said was,
04:35someone comes along with a Micah package and it's just too much,
04:37yeah, we could talk about selling, but otherwise, no.
04:40It's still weird.
04:42That's still a weird position to take and be like –
04:45I mean, not in general.
04:46It's a weird position for him to take.
04:48He's not usually six games in the season going like,
04:50yeah, if I get blown away with an offer, I might sell an important piece to this
04:54because that's sort of saying you don't know how salvageable this is.
04:56Well, you know what?
04:56I give him a ton of credit for it.
04:58Yeah.
04:58Sure.
04:59Like, it was the first guy I'll think of was Pickens, right?
05:02Like, if someone blows you away with the Pickens offer and they want to work out that deal
05:06after the season since you can't sign it while he's on the franchise tag, okay.
05:11But I wasn't even expecting him to entertain selling whatsoever.
05:15No.
05:15I mean, look, if you're a contender, the fastest way to a Super Bowl is probably through free agency.
05:22And if you're not a contender, the fastest way to become one is probably through the draft.
05:28You know, like, selling is probably the better idea.
05:31I'm a big fan of selling anyway.
05:33Even when you're good, like, buy and sell at the same time to recoup some of the assets.
05:39They are not a Super Bowl contender.
05:42No.
05:42They are not close to it.
05:44Are they closer to a Super Bowl contender than the number one pick?
05:46Yeah.
05:48Maybe.
05:49Maybe.
05:49Thanks, guys.
05:50Right?
05:50But that's only because they've got the quarterback position figured out.
05:53Like, most teams that are going to have the number one pick.
05:55Well, it's really because of the division.
05:56Well, but that's the other thing.
05:58You know, if you live in a neighborhood where everyone's tearing down these homes and building these nice megalith mansions,
06:06you don't get to say that you live in a nice neighborhood when you're living in an old crappy rundown
06:10house.
06:11Just because everybody around you has built up.
06:13You know, your division stinks.
06:17That's the only reason why you would be considering this.
06:20It's like you brought the Rangers.
06:21It's the same thing.
06:22And that's where I want to take it.
06:24So, we've compared the NFC East to the AL West throughout the entire year.
06:29Bobby, you said during Rangers trade deadline, and you ended up being correct,
06:34you should really be our baseball insider, not our football insider.
06:37But there's no point to buy.
06:39There's no point to buy.
06:40Go ahead and sell.
06:41This isn't going anywhere.
06:42So, how are the Cowboys different right now than the Rangers last year in terms of buy and sell?
06:50They're not in the sense that they're in a crappy division, and that's what's keeping them competitive right now.
06:57But they're not a very good team at the moment.
06:59Who's a better team between the two?
07:02Oh, God, man.
07:04The Cowboys are a more talented team.
07:06No doubt.
07:07I don't know.
07:09Dallas.
07:10Texas was awful.
07:11But I feel like the Cowboys' defensive flaw, is that bigger than what the Rangers' defensive flaw was?
07:18And what was the Rangers' biggest flaw?
07:20They couldn't hit.
07:20Well, it turned out to be, at the end of the year, it was pitching.
07:23By the end of the year, it was pitching.
07:24But before that, at the time of the deadline, it was they couldn't hit.
07:27And I feel like the Cowboys' defense was worse than the Rangers' hitting,
07:32but the Cowboys' offense better than anything the Rangers could put out there with your older starting pitching,
07:39especially getting hurt.
07:40Yeah, at the time of the deadline, when everyone's healthy on the staff, right?
07:44It's like, all right, I'll put it this way.
07:46At the deadline, I could have talked myself into, if they got in the playoffs,
07:51that pitching staff, I cannot talk myself into the Dallas Cowboys making a run in the playoffs.
07:57Oh, I could talk myself into that more than the Rangers.
08:00Are the Cowboys one player away from beating San Fran, Seattle, Bears, whoever in the postseason?
08:10Name the NFC.
08:11Are they one player away?
08:14No, but they might be one player and development away.
08:17Okay.
08:18But that's not this year.
08:19You don't know.
08:19Well, no, I'm saying it could be this year.
08:21It just depends on how you project out things settling in with Parker's system
08:25and the fact that they do have so many young players in place.
08:28Dallas was in the same spot in 2021.
08:30They had young players in place that were not playing well early in the season,
08:33and then they did settle into place by the end of the year, and then they were a 12-win
08:36team.
08:37And so it's – because those numbers look almost as bad as the numbers that we saw defensively
08:42that we quoted last week.
08:44Those numbers at the beginning of 2021 almost looked as bad.
08:47If things continued kind of at this pace, how far away is the trade deadline?
08:53No, it's coming up in two weeks.
08:55November or something like that.
08:56Two weeks?
08:57Yeah.
08:57All right.
08:57Let's just say you split.
08:59You split your next two.
09:01Or let's just say you win your next two.
09:03Heck.
09:03You're four and four.
09:04No, we'll split.
09:05Three and five.
09:07And you were in there, and we're having a war room discussion.
09:10What would you say, Bobby?
09:11Out.
09:13So, I'm out on buying and adding to this team in any sort of capacity.
09:18If you split the next two games, that means you either lose at home to Arizona,
09:22which is very plausible, probably probable, or you lose to Tanner McKee.
09:26This will be – we're going to have a real firetruck takeoff here.
09:30We've got to get those lately.
09:33Look, here's the thing is that –
09:34Good morning, Tolos.
09:37Oh, he said good morning, Tolos.
09:39Oh, good morning.
09:41I don't know.
09:42I look at it like this.
09:43This guy, I keep thinking Pete Sampras is here in this fan shirt.
09:46He does look like Pete Sampras.
09:48Every time I look up, he's got a golden tan.
09:51Of course, Bridget Wilson.
09:51That's right.
09:52So, the way that I would look at Dallas is it's obviously harder to sell in the classic sense
09:57the way it is with baseball.
09:59Like, baseball, you can move several different players.
10:02Like, there's less contract juggling that you have to do.
10:05Here in Dallas, like, you'd be limited.
10:07Like you say, when he says, if we get blown away,
10:09just look at the Cowboys roster.
10:10I was just doing this a few minutes ago.
10:11I was trying to look and be like, there is one guy that that would be.
10:14It would be Pickens.
10:15There's really nobody else that even checks that box.
10:18Unless you were to say, we're going to flip Porter instantly.
10:20Quinnen.
10:21But Quinnen would still be hard, though, because I think he just got his –
10:24with his deal just getting done.
10:25I don't know how easy that is to move.
10:27Because that would hurt their cap a lot, right?
10:29Yeah, I would accelerate some stuff on their cap.
10:31But I think that you maybe move a piece, and then you sit tight and don't buy anything.
10:38Might be what selling looks like if you're Dallas versus just going out and getting some.
10:42But Jerry's not going to do that.
10:43No, I don't think so.
10:44But, again, like he says, if somebody comes in and goes,
10:47we'll give you two firsts and a second for Pickens, he would do that, I think.
10:51Well, you mentioned splitting the next two.
10:54Even if they split the next two, you know, realistically, because Hurts isn't coming back.
11:00And, again, they're going to be favored in the next three.
11:03Like, they have a great schedule.
11:05Yeah, they do.
11:06But you mentioned the split in the next two.
11:08That brings them to three and five.
11:11You still play San Francisco.
11:12I just did three and five for the purposes of that.
11:14Like, I may end up – I mean, I'm probably going to pick them to –
11:18But if you don't – and that's the point.
11:20Like, if you don't beat the Eagles in all their disarray,
11:22you don't beat the Cardinals in all their disarray,
11:23which they very easily could lose to.
11:25But if you don't beat those two teams,
11:27you're definitely not a team that's starting to coalesce
11:29and that you want to invest in.
11:30But if you give them a split, you still play San Fran,
11:33you still play Seattle, you still play the Rams,
11:35you still play Jacksonville.
11:36That's four games.
11:37You're probably going to be dogs in all of them.
11:39Yeah.
11:39We probably will pick against them in most of those.
11:42Yeah.
11:42So that brings you to nine losses.
11:45Now, the Giants tie then comes into play, right?
11:48Are the Giants going to lose ten games?
11:51Who knows?
11:52But I can still top myself into eight and nine winning this division.
11:55Yeah.
11:55Let me forecast and tell you that you are winning the division
11:59at nine and eight or eight and nine.
12:03Would that change your opinion about buying and selling?
12:07Because the Cowboys have more talent than the Rangers.
12:11They also have a better path into the postseason, I think,
12:16than the Rangers.
12:17It was a three, well, really a two-team race at the end.
12:20But if you want to throw Seattle in there for a little bit.
12:22But if they go, if they were to go seven and four down the stretch
12:27with the schedule that they have, then I'd probably think, yeah,
12:31let's get in because that means you're playing good enough football.
12:36Today, if that happened, they'd slip them in with the Giants
12:39because they would take the four.
12:40They would play Green Bay at home.
12:42And then they would get Minnesota versus the winner of Minnesota.
12:47Oh, yeah, they would get Minnesota in the next round.
12:48I just think, I know, I don't think.
12:51I know that you're so far away.
12:54Like, just getting in because you have an under 500 record winning
12:59the crappy NFC East is not enough light for me to say,
13:03All right, let's go ahead and try to make a run.
13:05Do the smart thing.
13:06Tell me win or loss, just up or down.
13:09This is from the Giants' perspective.
13:12On the road against the Texans.
13:13From the Giants' perspective?
13:15Yep, Giants.
13:15At the Texans?
13:16Yep, loss.
13:17Okay, at the Eagles.
13:18Win.
13:19At home against the Commanders.
13:24Slight win.
13:25Home against the Jaguars.
13:26Loss.
13:27Road against the Colts.
13:29Win.
13:30Home against the Niners.
13:31Loss.
13:32Home against the Seahawks.
13:33Loss.
13:34Or road against the Seahawks.
13:35Loss.
13:36Loss.
13:36Okay, home against the Browns.
13:38Ugh.
13:39Toss, tie.
13:40Road against the Lions.
13:42Loss.
13:42Loss.
13:43Road against Cowboys.
13:44I don't think Cowboys lose two games.
13:46Loss.
13:46And then it's home against the Eagles to finish the year.
13:49Six losses.
13:50So that's six more losses, and they're at, what, 3-2-1 right now?
13:52Yeah.
13:53So that'd be 8-8-1.
13:55You win the division.
13:55So nine wins.
13:56Wins the division.
