00:00Today, Education Secretary Linda McMahon was at Santa Barbara's Reagan Ranch Center where the Young America's Foundation hosted a fireside
00:08chat with her where she got into issues about how she is in the middle of dismantling the Department of
00:13Education as signed by an executive order by President Trump when he first took office in his second term, as
00:19well as talking about how parents need to be taking a more active role and returning education back to the
00:24state's local leaders and parents.
00:26McMahon spoke to the California Post on a wide-ranging issues, including the investigations that were announced today into three
00:33California school districts.
00:35Parents have the right to opt out, opt their children out of these kinds of questions, these kinds of surveys.
00:42It's not just a question of notifying the parents, they have the right to opt them out. And so that's
00:47what we want to see. We'll see how the investigations proceed, but that's, you know, as far as I want
00:52to go on discussing it today.
00:54Have you found this to be a case in other states, or is this sort of uniquely a California problem?
00:59Well, I think we've seen that, you know, elsewhere, but we did have specific reason to come in to investigate
01:05in California, and that's why we opened these investigations.
