00:30Yes, indeed, the dominant Rangers are 3-0 up on St Johnston.
00:33The first goal came in the first half.
00:35There should have been more because there were chances for Buani, Kelsey and Minsu.
00:39In that first half, however, it was Kelsey who got on the score sheet.
00:42Nadiri looked up after playing down the side.
00:44He squared the ball to his strike partner and Kelsey tucked it home.
00:47He should have made it two in the first half when a lovely link-up play between the two strikers
00:50again
00:50resulted in Kelsey missing from point-blank range against the keeper
00:54who, in credit to him, made a good save into the second half.
00:57And St Johnston started really well, it has to be said, really well.
01:00And it was Taylor Stephen who should have shot, elected not to, went for a corner,
01:06corner got cleared, and Alex had a shot from about 35 yards,
01:10which was tipped over the bar by Pandur.
01:13However, Rangers have since made it three.
01:15Minsu had a shot, fell to Kelsey, and he nodded it in.
01:20So, Rangers are currently 3-0 up, and there's a possible check for a red card going on.
01:26I didn't quite see what happened in the middle of the pitch.
01:28Andy, I don't know if you can enlighten us.
01:30Yeah, so he definitely catches him with the studs just over the ankle,
01:34but for me, his leg's not extended.
01:36I don't think he's going with a whole lot of force.
01:38It's no red card for me.
01:39Who is it, Andy? Sorry.
01:39I think it's bothering him.
01:41We've just seen the rate.
01:42Yeah, I think it is bothering him, but I don't think it's a red card.
01:45I mean, the contact's definitely high.
01:47It is with his studs, but he follows through.
01:49I think he plays a part of the book.
01:51I think this would be really harsh.
01:53Yeah, I mean, he's in debate there with Nico Raskin.
01:55The referee is going to call doors.
01:57So, stay with this one now.
01:58We're going to go to Tannadice just shortly.
02:00Willemiller's got game of the day up there.
02:01So much drama.
02:02Some big talking points here, but let's stick with this game at Ibrox.
02:05A big moment in this game, albeit Rangers look home and hose this afternoon, Andy.
02:08We're just about to see the replay here.
02:10Talk us through it.
02:11No, I'm sorry.
02:11I think that's harsh.
02:13I mean, he wins the ball cleanly in his follow-through.
02:16He does catch Nico Raskin high.
02:17There's no getting away from it.
02:18But his leg's not fully extended.
02:20I don't think he's coming in with any real force.
02:22I think this would be a really harsh one.
02:23I think it's difficult.
02:24Where is he supposed to be putting his leg?
02:25He's cleanly got the ball, and it's just slayed on the water.
02:28And when your knee's bent like that,
02:31you already know that there's not sufficient force.
02:34If it's a straight leg coming in at real pace,
02:36I don't think this should be a red card.
02:37Right, we'll just stick with you, Dorey.
02:40He's certainly studying it.
02:41I think it did Ryan Naderi a disservice during that wee update there
02:44because he scored the second after a Minsu shot,
02:46and it was Kelsey that got the third.
02:48But we're waiting on the referee here making a decision
02:49on whether Fotheringham will be sent off for a tackle in the middle of a pitch.
02:53The fans are becoming restless, it has to be said.
02:55It's been a long time, isn't it?
02:57It is taking a wee while.
02:58So I think that suggests to me, the referee in his own heads,
03:02maybe having a few doubts about it.
03:03As well as he should be.
03:05Well, I just hope it's nothing left to him to make his own decision.
03:09He's still looking, he's still chatting away to whoever he needs to speak to.
03:12For me, he should be looking at that and simply making his own decision
03:15and his own call on it.
03:16But we're still waiting.
03:17He's looking around him a lot now as well,
03:19and there's a lot of indecision there.
03:21And this is scenarios where we do ask for referees to be strong
03:24on what they felt they've seen in live time.
03:26Here we go.
03:27He's gone on to the pitch now.
03:29It's shown that he's going to his pockets,
03:32and the red card is out.
03:34Wrong decision for me.
03:35And Kai Fotheringham will walk.
03:36Raskin gives him a little pat on the chest.
03:38I don't know if that's as if to say that's a bit harsh or not,
03:41but he is off.
03:42St Johnson down to ten men, Rangers 3-0 up.
03:44They have made some changes as well very quickly.
03:47Rumans is on.
03:48Penrith is into midfield.
03:50And Gassama is on as well.
03:51I don't know.
03:52I don't know.
03:52After winning the ball,
03:54and the natural consequence of him winning the ball
03:56is that his foot is up.
03:58I don't know how he's supposed to get his foot down.
03:59That's a foul.
04:00I think he's got to give a foul here.
04:02I don't know what he's supposed to do.
04:03I mean, it's not going to have an impact on the result.
04:04That's for sure.
04:22Johnson wants all their players available for the next game,
04:24and I think that's the wrong decision.
04:26Yeah, there's a full card midweek.
04:28Let's get to the game of the day.
04:29A massive crowd,
04:31despite the tough conditions today at Tannerdice.
04:33Willie Miller is there,
04:34Dundee United against Aberdeen.
04:36It's been a fantastic game, Willie.
04:39It has, Kenny,
04:40and the conditions have been deplorable,
04:42you know, wind and rain,
04:43but the playing surface itself
04:45has stood up fantastically well,
04:47and we've had, you know,
04:49the goal's just flying,
04:51and the first one, Iqbal,
04:53fantastic's right,
04:53but it does take a couple of deflections.
04:55It's been a game where it's went end-to-end
04:57throughout the game,
04:58and it's still,
04:59these players are still full of energy
05:01and still taking the game to the opposition.
05:03That's Dundee United I'm talking about,
05:05but then Guinness Walker
05:07manages to equalise well,
05:08set up by Kevin Nisbet,
05:10but, you know,
05:11two minutes later,
05:12it's Dylan Tate
05:13that gets the opportunity
05:15at the back post from the corner,
05:16manages to muscle himself
05:17into a scoring position
05:19and finishes it.
05:20That's at half-time,
05:21it's 2-1,
05:22but Aberdeen come out firing,
05:2356 minutes to get
05:24the second equaliser.
05:26Connor Ronan well-worked
05:27to passage a play
05:29through the middle of the park,
05:31and Ronan strikes it
05:31from, what, 22 yards low,
05:33Daisy Carr,
05:34ends up in the back of the net,
05:35and then you've got Sartford,
05:37who finishes a wonderful
05:40work to move
05:41down the right-hand side,
05:42but it's been given offside.
05:45I think it was Benny
05:46that was going himself
05:47in an offside position.
05:48Controversial,
05:49I would say,
05:49at the very least,
05:50but they weren't finished there.
05:52Dylan Tate makes the cross
05:54for Sartford,
05:55who was subsequently
05:56substituted,
05:57and the header
05:58is absolutely sublime.
05:59What a striker should be,
06:01on the move,
06:01gets in front of Malloy
06:02and just guides it
06:03into the back of the net.
06:043-2,
06:05and it still looks as though
06:06there's more goals in it
06:07with United attacking.
06:08It's been absolutely
06:10fantastic here.
06:11This is what football
06:11should be like.
06:12This is a game of football,
06:14end-to-end,
06:15no quarter given.
06:16Good football,
06:17goals galore as well,
06:19and the conditions
06:20are absolutely deplorable.
06:22How are they managing
06:22to do it?
06:23I do not know,
06:23but this is entertainment.
06:25We're bringing you
06:25entertainment here
06:26this afternoon.
06:27And we are loving it.
06:28If you're just joining us
06:29on television,
06:29Willie Miller predicted
06:30a belt of a game up there,
06:31but there has,
06:32of course,
06:32been controversial.
06:33Tom,
06:34you've asked us
06:34some guidance
06:34from VAR HQ.
06:36United thought
06:37we were 3-2 ahead
06:38before Sapsford's goal.
06:40We're still waiting here.
06:41We think the goalkeeper,
06:42his vision was bought.
06:43That's what we think.
06:44Well,
06:44that's what we think.
06:45I mean,
06:45it could only be that
06:47unless it's a touch
06:48off the player
06:49before the ball
06:50hits the back of the net.
06:52Was the goalkeeper's view
06:53obscured?
06:54Tom,
06:55it doesn't matter.
06:56It doesn't matter
06:56if his vision was bought.
06:58He was never saving it.
06:59He was never saving it.
07:00It was past him
07:01before he was diving.
07:02It's got to be
07:03a free kick.
07:05Right,
07:05let's get to the game
07:06pace of this Alan Preston
07:07here there, Alan.
07:08Drey Wright's passed it back.
07:09The keeper's collected
07:10it with his hands.
07:12That's,
07:13honestly,
07:14referees,
07:15all the superman players
07:16around the referee.
07:17He's touched it
07:18with his hands,
07:19has he not?
07:19And I mean,
07:20literally all 10 out
07:21full superman players
07:22are surrounding the referee
07:23because as you say,
07:25I don't understand
07:26how he's missed that.
07:26And he's booked,
07:27he's booked
07:28some,
07:28oh God almighty,
07:30he's booked Thomas.
07:31This is ridiculous.
07:32How has he missed that?
07:34And I am...
07:36So it's a back pass,
07:38it's a back pass
07:38by Drey Wright
07:39to Goodman
07:40and he's getting
07:41pressed very,
07:41very quickly.
07:42I'm not quite sure
07:43who it was
07:44that was closing him down,
07:45but he ushers
07:46the ball away
07:47with his hands.
07:48It's a pass back,
07:48should be a free kick.
07:50Oh no,
07:51we've just seen it again.
07:52I don't know
07:53how the referee's missed it.
07:54I really don't.
07:55The camera's actually
07:56panty Goodman
07:56who looks sheepish
07:57to say the least.
07:59What does he think?
08:00Does he think
08:01it comes off,
08:02he goes down on the ground
08:02and it comes off his thigh?
08:04I'm not too sure,
08:05but he's most certainly
08:06going to run.
08:07The goal is down on the ground
08:08with his two hands out,
08:09it hits his hands.
08:10It's a nonsense.
08:11Absolutely.
08:11I'm not seeing one of them
08:12for years.
08:13Alan, talk us through
08:14for people just joining us
08:15on television
08:16and on iPlayer.
08:17There have been doubts
08:18over the game today
08:19at times you thought
08:19it may have been called off.
08:20Very challenging conditions,
08:22but so far
08:23a very good game there.
08:24Yeah, it's been great.
08:25Arguably the worst conditions
08:26in the country today
08:27that's still blowing a hoolie
08:28as we speak.
08:29Water lying on the far side
08:31of the pitch.
08:32Ball's not travelling
08:32as it should,
08:33but the players have tried
08:34their best
08:35and served up three goals.
08:36Two for St Mirren,
08:37one for Dundee.
08:38First one in 20 minutes.
08:39It's just a long ball.
08:40Dundee defence is caught short.
08:41Goes to Sulu,
08:42rolls it to Ramsey
08:43and he knocks the ball
08:44beyond the keeper.
08:45It's 2-0,
08:4656 minute.
08:47Phillips is on the left-hand side.
08:48Wonderful crossing there.
08:49Sulu with a header
08:50into the back of the net
08:51and you think
08:51that could be that,
08:52but Dundee have rallied.
08:54Fink got a shot,
08:55come back off Chapman
08:56and he knocked home
08:57at the second attempt.
08:58It's 2-1 now
08:59and with St Mirren's fragility,
09:01this game might not be over.
09:02It's still 10 minutes to go,
09:03but here's a chance
09:03for Young to end it.
09:05Oh, and he's ballooned it.
09:06Right over the top
09:07of the crossbar.
09:08What a chance.
09:09What a chance.
09:10Bit of composure.
09:12He knows it.
09:122-1, though, St Mirren.
09:14Yeah, and we've just
09:14actually seen a picture
09:15of Craig McLeish,
09:16the manager of St Mirren.
09:18A St Mirren fan will join us.
09:19He's at the game.
09:20He'll join us in a fan zone.
09:21That's on YouTube
09:22on the Radio Scotland
09:23half past five
09:23or seven o'clock.
09:25We felt it was a big week
09:26for Craig McLeish
09:26this game today
09:27against Indee
09:28and then against Hibs
09:29full midweek card.
09:30Hibs, of course,
09:30struggling at the bottom
09:32of the table.
09:32They play tomorrow
09:33against Celtic.
09:34Let's then get to
09:35the fall cut stadium.
09:36Chick Young is here for us.
09:38Fall cut against Kamara.
09:39Ennit tuned in last week.
09:40Chick, you had an amazing
09:41game last week.
09:42What's it like today?
09:44Well, it's an amazing
09:45game again, Kenny,
09:46but this time
09:46for all the wrong reasons,
09:47really.
09:48Just to continue the theme,
09:50the conditions have been
09:51atrocious.
09:52Synthetic pitch here,
09:53which has probably
09:54helped a bit
09:55against what I normally
09:56say about these things,
09:58but Falk have taken
09:59full advantage of it.
10:00They lead Kamara
10:01by three goals to nil.
10:03Two of them
10:03have been on goals,
10:05although I think
10:05Murrell at the
10:07first one was pretty
10:08unlucky.
10:08It was McCarthy
10:09on the line
10:10who just couldn't
10:11do much about it
10:12and went off him
10:12into the net.
10:13So it is an on goal
10:15for McCarthy then.
10:16Murrell with a
10:16magnificent header
10:18made it 2-0.
10:19Corner kick
10:20on the right-hand side
10:21whipped in
10:21and he just met it.
10:23Here's a chance
10:24for Marlach
10:24saved by the goal
10:25late that time.
10:27Scott Bain gets
10:27that one away.
10:28Yeah, Murrell
10:29with the header
10:30would make it 2-0
10:31at halftime
10:32and then there was
10:33a third one.
10:34I thought it would
10:34be uphill for
10:36Falkirk in the
10:37second half
10:37because Kelly
10:38had the wind,
10:39but it's Falkirk
10:40with Stanger
10:41with a bizarre own goal.
10:43I think the wind
10:44again deceived him,
10:45came off,
10:46added a little pace
10:47to the ball.
10:48He tried to kind of
10:48backheel it up
10:50and there,
10:50went over the goalkeeper
10:51into the net.
10:523-0 to Falkirk.
10:54The wind and the rain
10:56continue to swirl
10:57around this stadium
10:58and all the substitutes
11:00have been made
11:00and I think the players
11:01will be very grateful
11:02to be taken off today
11:04and come out of the eye
11:05of that storm.
11:06It's been an exciting
11:07football match
11:08for all the wrong reasons
11:09I said,
11:10but there's absolutely
11:10no doubt that Falkirk
11:12are taking another
11:13three points here
11:14this afternoon.
11:15It is at the moment
11:16with about seven minutes
11:18to go.
11:21It's 3-0 to Falkirk.
11:22The reason I pause,
11:23the reason I pause,
11:24Kenny,
11:24my team sheet
11:25has just flown
11:28into the night sky.
11:30So,
11:31who knows what could happen?
11:32You'll be hearing much
11:33from me for the rest
11:33of this game.
11:34I doubt that very much.
11:36Just pan there
11:37to Neil McCann.
11:38He'll be livid today.
11:38As for John McGlynn,
11:39I would ever doubt him.
11:40A lot of changes.
11:41A lot of big players,
11:42but he's doing a great job.
11:43That was another chance
11:44there in Paisley,
11:45Alan Preston.
11:46That was for the young
11:47substitute.
11:48Alfie Harrison comes on.
11:49He's got to do better.
11:50It's a chance,
11:51what,
11:5120 yards out,
11:52centre of the goal.
11:53Not a clean strike at all.
11:55Chances are far between here
11:57and now the press box
11:58is getting soaked
11:59as well with the rain.
12:00The condition.
12:01I'm honest,
12:01I've got to applaud
12:02the players for this.
12:05They've served up
12:05a decent enough game.
12:07Still 2-1 though
12:08to Superman.
12:08And that's the case
12:09across the country
12:10in League One.
12:10Montrose 3,
12:11Peterhead 0,
12:12Blair Lyons with a goal
12:13in 85 minutes.
12:14We're at the big game
12:15at the top end
12:15of the championship today,
12:17but so far
12:18it's been a one-way contest.
12:19Hasn't it?
12:20Ian McCall's there
12:20for us at Ferrell?
12:22It has, Kenny.
12:23It's 3-0.
12:24I try and keep a hold
12:25of my notes
12:26a la Chick Young,
12:27but yeah,
12:27I mean,
12:28for the first hour here,
12:29the conditions were
12:30for me were absolutely fine
12:31and it was borne out
12:33of how well Fizzle played.
12:34They played some terrific football.
12:36Ewan Henderson
12:36obviously got his hat to it.
12:37First one,
12:38Tony Watt played him in.
12:39Really,
12:40really decent finish.
12:41Second in the 25th minute,
12:44Drozd got to the byline,
12:45low cross across
12:46and Ewan Henderson
12:47finishes it first time.
12:49And then just into
12:50the second half
12:50about the 55th minute,
12:53Drozd slips
12:54when in possession of the ball,
12:56gets up
12:57and it's time
12:57just to slip
12:58Ewan Henderson in
12:58from four yards
12:59he's no going to miss
13:00and he made it 3-0.
13:01From then,
13:02there was a confab
13:03at the side of the park
13:04between the referee
13:06and the two managers.
13:07Listen,
13:08I think it was
13:09the Stenhouse Muir bench
13:10that were more
13:11in favour of getting
13:12the game called off
13:13as you can imagine,
13:14but for the last 15-20 minutes
13:16it's been a,
13:17you know,
13:17it's not challenging conditions,
13:18it's just a farce,
13:19a total farce.
13:20But right now,
13:21it's Parry Thistle
13:22still winning 3-0
13:23against Stenhouse Muir.
13:24Yeah,
13:24and as things stand,
13:25Thistle are top of the table
13:27right now,
13:28two points clear
13:29of Stenhouse Muir.
13:31Let's then have a wee chat
13:32just about Thistle
13:32because you and Henders,
13:33and I like him,
13:34and I know what you think
13:34about him in a great season
13:35at Airdrie.
13:36He's a decent striker,
13:37hat-trick for him today.
13:38Yeah,
13:38he was a young player
13:38at Hearts when I was there,
13:40so I played a fair amount
13:41of games with him.
13:42One thing he always was
13:43is he was always a goal threat.
13:53You know,
13:54off the back of a fantastic season
13:56last year,
13:57deservedly gotten his move,
13:58but I do think
13:59Partick Thistle
14:00have a great squad depth
14:01in the areas of the pitch,
14:02so he's actually found himself
14:03no struggling
14:04and got a real run
14:05in the team,
14:06and he's obviously
14:07got the nod today
14:07and got his hat-trick.
14:09Yeah,
14:09we'll chat more with Ian
14:10when the games have finished,
14:11but Ian's been consistent
14:12over the past weeks,
14:13he feels that
14:13they are strong title favourites,
14:16Partick Thistle,
14:16as you said,
14:17because of that strength
14:18and depth
14:18that they have.
14:19Let's get back to the game
14:20at Tannerise,
14:21it's been a fantastic
14:22match-up there,
14:23Willie Miller is there for us,
14:25are the Dons looking likely
14:26to get an equaliser,
14:27Willie?
14:28I'm drawing breath here,
14:29Kenny,
14:31it's been fantastic,
14:32we've no right to expect
14:33this quality of a game
14:34in these conditions,
14:36both sets of players
14:37have been absolutely fantastic,
14:40the Dons,
14:40yeah,
14:40they've been on the front foot,
14:42they're causing an issue or two,
14:43I think when you're 3-2 up
14:44this late in the game,
14:45then you tend to go back to the park,
14:46that's what United are doing
14:48and Aberdeen are taking advantage of it,
14:50they've got a set piece
14:51out on the left-hand side,
14:52Stuart Armstrong just curling it
14:54in towards the back post,
14:55Jack Milne up,
14:56but it looks as though it's cleared,
14:57no,
14:58not yet,
14:58but it could be one on the counter,
14:59it's been fabulous,
15:00it's just been a game
15:01that has been open,
15:03it's been an attacking game,
15:05you know,
15:06the mindset is about
15:07the pass forward
15:09all the time,
15:10rather than the pass sideways
15:11or back,
15:13you know,
15:13there hasn't been
15:14an awful lot of physical contact,
15:15there's been an odd
15:16free kick given,
15:17the referee's handled it
15:18extremely well,
15:19there's been huge spaces
15:20in this game
15:21for either side
15:23to take advantage of
15:24and of course we've had
15:24the five goals
15:26and it looks as though
15:26United are going to see
15:27this one out,
15:28it has been
15:29a five goal thriller
15:30with United in the lead
15:31at this moment in time,
15:32but Aberdeen
15:33certainly not giving up
15:34and the fans
15:35definitely winning,
15:36the conditions are dreadful,
15:37but they've seen
15:38a magnificent game of football.
15:40We'll bring you
15:41post-match reaction,
15:42Chick.
15:43Guys,
15:43watch this,
15:45it's a,
15:46Kilmarnock get forward,
15:47the goalkeeper's
15:48somewhere in a desert island
15:49in the middle of the park,
15:51Kilmarnock with a chance
15:52to get an open goal
15:53and I think it's
15:54big John Jules,
15:55he totally missed
15:56Hensig's pass to post.
15:59What about that
15:59for a miss, boys?
16:00I tell you what,
16:02it's brave for Scott Bain
16:03trying to come out
16:03in these type of conditions
16:04going into the 50-50
16:05challenge with John Jules,
16:07but I mean...
16:08Not even close.
16:09It's an empty net,
16:11you've got to hit the target.
16:12Listen,
16:13we've spoke about
16:13the weather all day,
16:14I'm not giving them
16:15the weather as an excuse
16:16for that,
16:16you've got to score.
16:17He's got time,
16:18he's got an open goal
16:19and he doesn't even...
16:23It was a shocker,
16:24despite we can hardly see it
16:25because of the rain
16:26all over the camera
16:27coming into the,
16:27all the games
16:28coming into the studio here.
16:30Two minutes added on,
16:31it pays,
16:31there could be a massive
16:32three points for Craig McLeish,
16:33his side's weak leading
16:34by two goals to one,
16:366,552.
16:38And listen,
16:38fair play to everyone
16:39in the mall,
16:39and you made your way
16:40through to the game today,
16:41it's a really difficult
16:42driving conditions,
16:43all right,
16:43let's get back to Ibrox,
16:44Rangers,
16:45Rory Lloyd.
16:46Yeah,
16:46it's Tochi Chikwani,
16:47he's made it four,
16:48Gassama just quite simply
16:49puts on the afterburners
16:50and goes down the outside.
16:52He's come on on the left
16:52and he's ran
16:53St Johnstone ragged at times,
16:55he cuts it back
16:55and Tochi Chikwani
16:58sticks it in the back of the net.
16:59Not had a lot of game time recently,
17:00so he'll be delighted
17:01to come on
17:01and get a goal
17:02and just put...
17:03Full time at 4-0,
17:05Patrick Thistle 3,
17:06Stenusmuir nil.
17:07Thank you to Ian McCall.
17:08So it's Rangers for St Johnstone now.
17:09Thank you to Rory,
17:10Ian McCall is telling us there
17:12that Thistle are top of the table,
17:13we'll get more from Ian
17:14a little later on.
17:16Oh,
17:17the ball gets stuck in the water.
17:18That's the conditions there,
17:20wasn't it?
17:21Alan's in Paisley,
17:22searching for that equaliser
17:24and they'll feel hard done
17:25by there, Alan.
17:26The ball just stopped.
17:27Yeah,
17:27it's young Alfred Harrison,
17:28the ball he hits,
17:29he gets something on it
17:30and he just stops in the water
17:31and the penalty spot.
17:33Nearly there,
17:34this could be massive
17:36for Craig McLeish,
17:36as you said,
17:37Kenny's got a midweek game
17:38against the Burnley
17:39and at home,
17:40we touched on that at the start,
17:42most of us didn't think
17:43he was under real pressure.
17:45Oh,
17:45what a miss.
17:45And this would be
17:46a great result for him.
17:47Oh,
17:47what a miss.
17:48Whereabouts?
17:50The cross coming in
17:52from the right-hand side
17:53and Rose.
17:54Oh,
17:55he's on the underside
17:55of the baron.
17:56my goodness.
17:58Ethan Hamillton.
18:00Underside of the baron
18:01away from Ethan Hamillton
18:02and he can't believe it.
18:0315 seconds from the end.
18:05He cannot believe it,
18:06head and hands.
18:07Kenny,
18:08no time had he done
18:09and thankfully,
18:10Kenny had pulled time
18:11at Falkirk Stadium
18:12and it is
18:13Falkirk 3,
18:15Kilmarnock 0,
18:16an own goal started
18:17at McCarthy
18:18on goal.
18:19Murrow,
18:19I thought may have
18:20got the credit
18:21but it wasn't given
18:21full time at Paisley.
18:24Murrow for second one.
18:26And then a third on goal,
18:27a second on goal
18:28of the afternoon,
18:29a third for Kilmarnock,
18:30Stangell with the on goal,
18:31dreadful conditions
18:33but it's another
18:34magnificent win
18:35for John McGlynn
18:36and his Warriors
18:37here at Falkirk Stadium
18:38and Kilmarnock
18:40in a bit of a crisis
18:40finishes
18:42Falkirk 3,
18:43Kilmarnock 0.
18:44checks off the streets
18:44of the managers,
18:45Alan,
18:45there's a real melee
18:46in the goal,
18:46saw the players
18:47charging over there
18:48in Paisley,
18:48what's happening?
18:49I think Chapman's
18:49had a goal
18:50at the Dundee fans
18:51behind him.
18:52Bradley Fink's
18:52taking the exception
18:53to that
18:53and you're talking
18:54now what,
18:5520 players involved?
18:56Yeah.
18:56They were all in the net,
18:57the linesman's on,
18:58the assistants are on,
18:59referees involved,
19:00they're all there.
19:03They're now Godin' the Dundee fans
19:05in the back of the goal.
19:06Who's that?
19:07Listen,
19:07Suley in the back.
19:08Right,
19:08that's Suley,
19:10that's madness,
19:10that is madness,
19:11isn't it,
19:11from Suley?
19:12I mean,
19:12he's all over there,
19:14hands in the ears,
19:14cutting them front
19:15of the Dundee fans.
19:16It's still going on,
19:17they're fuming here.
19:18Yeah,
19:19that's poor.
19:19Goggins,
19:20to be fair,
19:20I'm trying to calm it down,
19:22trying to get him away,
19:23Ramsey's the same.
19:24Yeah,
19:25but I mean,
19:25as you said,
19:26there's literally
19:2830 players,
19:29staff,
19:30everyone's involved,
19:31and Suley's went out
19:32of his road,
19:33away from all the drama,
19:35to confront the Dundee fans,
19:36I don't know what he's doing,
19:37you've won the game,
19:38you've scored your goal.
19:38This is not over yet,
19:39there has to be repercussions,
19:41Andy,
19:41I think there'll be book-ins,
19:42there might even be,
19:43the way that Suley's acted,
19:44you're right,
19:45it's Tyson Crouch.
19:46he was back out of order.
19:47Yeah.
19:48So,
19:48the referee's pulling players over,
19:49it's not finished yet,
19:50this,
19:51don't know how many
19:52he's going to be booking,
19:53but he's talking to a few,
19:54he's in there,
19:54he's now speaking to his assistants,
19:57as well,
19:57to try and get this sorted out,
19:59find out what's going on.
20:01It's not done yet,
20:02there's a yellow card,
20:04for someone,
20:05that is,
20:05that's a substitute,
20:06isn't it?
20:07Brad Halliday,
20:07yeah.
20:07It's a substitute,
20:08is it?
20:08Brad Halliday.
20:10Right,
20:10that's,
20:11that's an incredible scene,
20:13it's a pace,
20:13there's another yellow card for Fink,
20:15there's another one,
20:16another yellow card.
20:16Fink's been done,
20:17yeah,
20:18surely can't get away with that.
20:19Right,
20:19so Steve McLean's the referee,
20:21he is,
20:21who's he going for now?
20:22He's finished,
20:23is it Fink he's going for?
20:25Yeah,
20:25he's done Fink,
20:26Gogich has been done as well.
20:27Gogich has done,
20:28that's a third.
20:28No finished yet,
20:29hold on.
20:30He's still looking,
20:31Douglas Ross is in the middle of all,
20:32he's still looking for him.
20:33It's like a game of poker,
20:35the cards are getting dished out,
20:36all the place,
20:37there's another one.
20:38Three yellows,
20:39three yellows,
20:39three yellows so far.
20:41Do you know what,
20:42I think that could be it.
20:43Yeah.
20:44Yeah,
20:44three yellows at the end.
20:46You know,
20:46right,
20:47the game's won an hour,
20:48he talked us through brilliantly,
20:49that chance,
20:50underside of the bar,
20:51what,
20:5115 seconds to go,
20:53that could be a huge moment
20:54for St Mirren actually.
20:57Magic,
20:57honestly,
20:58they've done well,
20:58to be fair to St Mirren,
21:01you know,
21:01they deserve to win.
21:02You know,
21:02they were a better team for 60 minutes,
21:04Dundee never turned up,
21:05they had their first effort of goal
21:06from Riley,
21:07which was saved by Chapman,
21:09but apart from that,
21:10they never really deserved anything
21:11for me,
21:11Dundee,
21:12today,
21:12but they could have snatched a point
21:13with that Hamilton effort
21:15in the 91st,
21:16or 92nd minute,
21:1715 seconds for the end,
21:18he smashes it with his left foot,
21:20hits the underside of the bar,
21:22Barry Nicholson now
21:23is getting spoken to
21:23by the referee,
21:24he's getting ushered off.
21:25I don't think he's listening.
21:28He's never...
21:28Full time,
21:28full time at Tanaday.
21:30I'll look at you.
21:31Right,
21:32Willie Miller up there at Tanaday,
21:33Jim Goodman clenching his fist
21:34in the dugout down below you there,
21:36Willie,
21:36what an afternoon.
21:37Oh,
21:38what a game,
21:38Kenny,
21:38absolutely top quality game,
21:40and United,
21:41they won it,
21:42they won it
21:43by a slim margin,
21:45although they had chances
21:46towards the end of the game,
21:47Rose had an absolute sitter
21:49that he missed on the counter,
21:51and Sapsford's goal,
21:52which I thought should have stood,
21:53was disallowed as well,
21:55for an offside decision,
21:57but it's been magnificent here,
21:59the fans have thoroughly enjoyed it,
22:00I'm sure the Aberdeen fans
22:02will stay behind
22:02and applaud their team,
22:04because they were equal
22:06just about to Dundee United
22:08in terms of outfield play
22:10and chances created,
22:11but of course,
22:12the most important thing
22:13in a game of football
22:15is the goals that you score,
22:16and here this afternoon,
22:17it finished Dundee United
22:19three,
22:20Aberdeen two.
22:21Thanks to Willem,
22:22I just saw pictures here
22:23of Steven Robinson
22:24going off the park,
22:24you thought at half time,
22:26just like last week
22:26when there's changed,
22:27he's made the difference
22:28when they beat St Mirren
22:29up there in Paisley,
22:31but they couldn't get the job done,
22:32we can see the United fans
22:33just jubilant
22:34in the stands there,
22:35as Willie said,
22:36they were treated
22:36as an absolute classic
22:37up there at Tanner Issa's afternoon,
22:39our fan zone is on BBC,
22:41Radio Scotland
22:41from half past five,
22:43and they'll seven o'clock later,
22:44also on YouTube,
22:44find us there
22:45under BBC,
22:46Scottish football fans
22:47of lots of clubs joining us,
22:48St Mirren fan
22:49who's at that game today,
22:50dreadful scenes at the end,
22:51I have to say,
22:52slowly I thought
22:52it was an absolute disgrace
22:53going over and goading
22:55the Dundee fans,
22:55so it was already
22:56a heightened tense situation
22:58there in Paisley,
22:59also we'll have a Rangers fan
23:01on later,
23:01they're cruising,
23:02we'll get to Rory shortly,
23:03the full-time whistle
23:04is about to go there,
23:05an Aberdeen fan,
23:06they've just not had
23:07Steven Robinson,
23:08a lot of these fans,
23:08Tom English,
23:09you just feel he's never
23:10too far away
23:11from the pressure being on,
23:12despite a great result
23:13last weekend.
23:14Hold on Tom,
23:16we'll go to you Rory,
23:16just wrap things up
23:17for us here at Ivericks,
23:18comfortable victory
23:18in the end for Rangers.
23:20Yeah,
23:20with a 10-15 minute spell
23:22in the second half
23:22where St Johnston
23:23showed a little bit
23:24more composure on the ball,
23:25change of shape,
23:26worked and helped,
23:27but then Rangers scored
23:28against the run of play
23:29at that particular point,
23:30but it was just
23:31cruise control after that,
23:32they thoroughly deserved
23:33a win,
23:33it was four,
23:34probably should have been
23:35five or six
23:36with all chances considered,
23:37especially the ones
23:38in the first half,
23:39Kelsey should have
23:39had a hat-trick,
23:40but Derek McKinnis
23:41will be absolutely delighted,
23:43clean sheet,
23:44four goals,
23:45Kelsey getting a goal,
23:46Nadiri getting a goal,
23:47he's two strikers,
23:48Minsu was fantastic
23:50all day long,
23:52I don't think
23:52there was a bad player
23:53on the pitch for Rangers,
23:54as for St Johnston,
23:55dust themselves down
23:56and looked to midweek,
23:57but it was 4-0
23:59and that is a very,
24:00very fair reflection
24:00of the game,
24:01it has to be said.
24:01Yeah,
24:02thank you to Rory Loy,
24:03we'll get more reaction
24:04and hope we'll bring you
24:04Derek McKinnis live,
24:05he usually comes out
24:07fairly quickly,
24:08the Rangers manager,
24:09we're on the television
24:10through until about 25,
24:11past five,
24:12the conversation continues
24:13in BBC Radio Scotland,
24:15right through until
24:16seven o'clock tonight,
24:17welcome back to listeners
24:18from Radio Scotland
24:18who have been tuned
24:19into the commentary
24:20there from I,
24:21we just got the full-time
24:22report from Rory Loy,
24:23we'll get more
24:24from the guys,
24:25Tom,
24:26just want to go back
24:26to our talk about
24:27the game up there
24:27at Tannerys,
24:28it was a fantastic match,
24:29which I was just saying,
24:30an Aberdeen fan
24:31will join us later,
24:33you just feel
24:33with the circumstances
24:34around the appointment
24:35of Steven Robinson,
24:36a lot of fans
24:36didn't want him,
24:37there's been complaints
24:38over the style of play,
24:39complaints over some
24:40of his post-match interviews,
24:42great result,
24:43he changed things
24:43last weekend
24:44against St. Mern,
24:44got the victory,
24:46we always just feel
24:46as soon as he gets
24:47the next defeat,
24:48the heat is right back on.
24:50Yeah,
24:50like they're not having him
24:51and every defeat
24:52is a license
24:53for the Aberdeen fans
24:55to vent their
24:56opposition to him,
24:58this is yet another
24:59in a long list
25:00of examples
25:01where a Steven Robinson team
25:03have had the majority
25:04possession,
25:05it's 55% in this case,
25:06and have lost the game.
25:08You know,
25:08they've had more corners,
25:10they've had more shots,
25:11there were more touches
25:12in the opposition box,
25:13there were more final
25:13third entries,
25:14there were more passes
25:16and they've lost the game.
25:18It's just,
25:19this is a recurring theme
25:20with Steven Robinson's team,
25:22better off having
25:2330,
25:2335%,
25:24you look at,
25:25I bet you there's examples
25:26this season,
25:26in fact I know there are,
25:27where they've had 35%
25:29and have won games,
25:30where they've had 65%
25:31and have lost games.
25:34I mean,
25:34they're better off
25:35without the ball almost
25:36sometimes,
25:36I presume.
25:37Yeah,
25:37on the flip side though,
25:38Tom,
25:39I've been critical
25:40of Aberdeen at times
25:41this year,
25:41even when they've won games,
25:42drawn games,
25:43get beat,
25:43I think the performance levels
25:45have been extremely poor.
25:46I don't think you can label
25:47that at Aberdeen today.
25:48No, no.
25:48The reason I'm saying that
25:49is because I think
25:50if they provide more performances
25:52like today at Tanadice,
25:53I think they can be,
25:55a successful Aberdeen side.
25:56Now,
25:57what does that look like?
25:57That's the big question
25:58for Aberdeen for me this year
25:59because for me,
26:00the size of the club,
26:01the stats of the club,
26:02the finances,
26:04the paid transfer money
26:05for players,
26:06I still think they should be
26:07aiming to be a top four side.
26:09From what I've seen this season,
26:10I don't think they will be that,
26:11but for me,
26:12I thought there was an improvement
26:14in terms of performance.
26:14But they've lost three to you
26:16and the Salzburg goal
26:16that was disallowed,
26:17which we think
26:17is questionable.
26:19Have we had gratification
26:19on that yet?
26:20No, we've asked for it.
26:21If that stands
26:22and we think
26:23it probably should have stood
26:24unless we have
26:25new news on that,
26:27that's 4-2.
26:29All of a sudden,
26:30that complexion
26:31in the scoreline
26:31looks pretty poor
26:32for Aberdeen.
26:33Poor enough as it is.
26:34But Dundee United,
26:35I thought were excellent.
26:37They're up to force
26:38on the table.
26:39I thought there was
26:40real energy about them
26:42and real gold threat
26:43about them.
26:43I thought they were terrific.
26:46Right from the,
26:46I think,
26:47Iqbal scored the first quarter.
26:48It's that midfield again.
26:49Very, very important.
26:50You like that
26:50Dundee United midfield.
26:51Just talk us through it.
26:52Well, I said it
26:53at the top of the show.
26:54For me,
26:54Dundee United's midfield three
26:56could match up against
26:57any in the league,
26:57in my opinion.
26:58I think they've been excellent
26:59all season long.
27:00And at the start of the season,
27:01it was actually
27:02Adji, Sivez and Tate
27:03who I thought were really good.
27:04Since then,
27:05it's now
27:05Lyle Cameron,
27:07Tate and Zidane Iqbal.
27:09So, I mean,
27:09the stent and depth
27:09they've got in that area
27:10of the pitch
27:11and, you know,
27:12talked about at the top of the show
27:13more of how they control games,
27:14their industries,
27:15their combative off the ball.
27:17But two of them
27:18have chipped in with a goal today.
27:19You know,
27:19Zidane Iqbal gets the first goal,
27:20he doesn't take it to the second.
27:21So, for me,
27:22they're all action.
27:23Seeing a modern day society
27:24and we all talk about
27:25number sixes,
27:26number eights,
27:26number tens,
27:27that's the midfielders
27:28that for me can do
27:28a bit of everything.
27:29And again,
27:30they've contributed
27:31to another good performance
27:32and one for Dundee United.
27:33Right, do you know what,
27:33have you got,
27:34can we hold fire on that?
27:36Just the reason being,
27:37I think for those,
27:38I think we've got a duty
27:39to those who have been
27:39at the game, Tom,
27:40and you know what it's like.
27:41You go to the game,
27:41you've got no idea
27:42what's happened.
27:43You've got no idea.
27:44Goal's chopped off,
27:45there's a penalty shot.
27:46Right, OK,
27:46we'll go for it now
27:47and then we'll go back to it.
27:47The guidance on the
27:49Sapsford goal
27:49that was disallowed
27:51is that in the referee's view,
27:53the attacker made a clear action
27:55very close to the ball
27:56and therefore was impactful
27:57to the goalkeeper.
27:58What does that matter
27:59if he scores to the ball?
28:00It's whether he's in the line
28:01of sight of the goalkeepers,
28:02whether he affects
28:03the goalkeeper.
28:04You do think he was?
28:04No, no way,
28:05not even close.
28:06Not even close.
28:07Muller has the clearest view
28:08to try and stop it
28:10and he tries to stop it.
28:12It's not as if he's unsighted
28:13and he just stands
28:13and then he complains.
28:14He actually makes an attempt
28:16to save the ball
28:17so it doesn't matter
28:18if he's close to the player.
28:19It's whether he affects
28:21the goalkeeper
28:21which he absolutely does not.
28:23I think the goalkeeper
28:24has a clear line of sight
28:25on the ball coming towards him.
28:26Yeah, I mean,
28:27for those that were at the game,
28:28we'll repeat it, Tom,
28:30because you know,
28:30it's like you're in the ground
28:31you've got no idea
28:32what's going on.
28:33Whether you agree with it or not,
28:34we can give you some clarity
28:35on that.
28:36I think it's slightly controversial,
28:38I think,
28:38but I think less controversial
28:39than the fact that
28:40Dundee United
28:40ended up winning again.
28:42Right, what we're going to do,
28:43we'll do the classifieds
28:44and we'll do the tables
28:45and then we'll go around the grounds
28:46and get a bit more detail
28:47on these games today.
28:49So let's start
28:49in the Scottish Permish
28:51at four games
28:51kicking off at three o'clock
28:53this afternoon.
28:54My goodness,
28:55despite the weather,
28:56they provide us
28:56with some amount of drama.
28:58So Dundee United three,
29:00Aberdeen two,
29:01Falkirk three,
29:02Kilmarnock nil,
29:03Rangers four,
29:04St. Johnson nil,
29:05St. Mirren two,
29:07Dundee one.
29:08Two games tomorrow,
29:08both covered on Sports
29:09and on BBC Radio Scotland,
29:11Hibs against Celtic
29:12and Motherwell against Hearts.
29:14Let's then get into
29:15the Scottish Championship,
29:16there's a big one there,
29:17E. McCall covered it at Firhill,
29:19we'll get more from Ian
29:19a little later.
29:20The game between Morton
29:21and the United,
29:22that match was postponed.

29:34League one,
29:35there was a full card,
29:37although one game
29:37was abandoned at halftime.
29:39So Arloath Athletic nil,
29:40Queen of the South won,
29:41the game that was abandoned,
29:42Cove Rangers
29:43against East Colbride.
29:44East Colbride were one goal up,
29:45but that match was abandoned
29:46at halftime.
29:48Hamilton Ackies two,
29:49East Fife one,
29:50Montrose three,
29:52Peterhead nil,
29:53Ross County four,
29:54Airdrie nil,
29:55no games
29:55in Scottish League two today.
29:58They are all involved
29:59in the Scottish Cup,
30:00the second round.
30:01So Bowness United two,
30:02Forfair Athletic one,
30:04Brecon City two,
30:05Strasby Thistle two,
30:06Broader Rangers one,
30:08Cowden Beath one,
30:08these games will go to Exxon,

30:10Trenent one,
30:11Cummerhill Colts three,
30:12Banks a D two,
30:13Dumbarton one,
30:14Keith nil,
30:15Dunnapace one,
30:16Largs Thistle five,
30:18Edinburgh City four,
30:19Kelty Hearts one,
30:20Gretna 2008 nil,
30:22Cumnock Juniors three,
30:24plenty more tides,
30:25comes in a busy day
30:26in the Scottish Cup,
30:27a few games of course

30:39Stronraer three,
30:40Tayport one,
30:42Troon four,
30:43Caledonia Braves three.
30:44So that's your up to date
30:46with the scores
30:47in the second round
30:48of the Scottish Cup
30:49down in England
30:50in the Premier League,

30:57in the lunchtime kick-off,
30:59Arsenal two,
31:00Everton nil,
31:01Coventry City nil,
31:03Fulham one,
31:03Chelsea against Spurs,
31:05the London Derby,
31:065.30 kick-off,
31:07a lot of games get played
31:08tomorrow,
31:08of course,
31:08all these clubs,
31:09most of them,
31:09were involved in
31:10European competition
31:11mid-week.
31:12Let's then have a look
31:14at the table
31:15and see what impact
31:15the four games today
31:16have had on the
31:18Scottish Premiership.
31:19So Celtic still top
31:2024 points,
31:21Rangers cut into that lead
31:23with that victory
31:23over St. Johnson today,
31:24they're on 23,

31:37of that win,
31:38they're into the top six
31:39on 13 points,
31:40fall cut,
31:41a great victory for them
31:42following up that

32:27A United 12,
32:28Arbroath 11,
32:29Morton against,
32:30Murray Morton and
32:31Queen's Park,
32:32bottom of the table,
32:33they are on 7 points,
32:35Morton's game today,
32:35that match was
32:37postponed before
32:38kick-off into
32:39Scottish League,
32:41won a full card
32:42there today,
32:43albeit the game
32:43between Cove
32:45Rangers
32:47and East
32:48Colbride,
32:48that was postponed
32:49at half-time with
32:50East Colbride in front
32:50by one goal,
32:51it's as you were at the
32:52top of the table,
32:53it's the most remarkable
32:55of title races and
32:56these two sides actually
32:57meet this coming
32:58midweek,
32:59so Ross County,
33:00top of the table,
33:0131 points,

33:11points,
33:12East Colbride say their

33:21bottom of the table
33:22on 6 points,
33:23actually right up to
33:24date with the
33:25classifieds and the
33:26tables on Sports
33:28Sound here on BBC
33:29Radio Scotland,
33:29also on BBC One
33:30Scotland and today
33:32as well as the
33:33BBC iPlayer,
33:34a terrific result
33:35for Falkirk this
33:36afternoon against
33:37Kilmarnock up there
33:38at the Falkirk
33:39Stadium,
33:39let's now hear from
33:40the Falkirk manager
33:40John McGlynn.
33:44John,
33:44it was a bizarre
33:46football match in
33:46many ways but a
33:47very satisfying three
33:48points for you I'm
33:49guessing.
33:50Absolutely,
33:50the conditions were
33:51horrendous,
33:52the forecast was
33:53not good,
33:54coming out of the
33:55game,
33:55I think they all
33:56knew it was going
33:57to be that type
33:58of game,
33:59the wind got up,
33:59got stronger as
34:00they went,
34:01the game got on
34:01the last ten
34:02minutes here when
34:03it was like
34:04hailstones or
34:04whatever,
34:05it was incredible.
34:07So fair play to the
34:08players and a big,
34:09big massive thank you
34:10to the fans that
34:11have come along
34:11here the day,
34:12obviously the home
34:13fans from my
34:13point of view but
34:14fair play to the
34:15Kilmarnock fans that
34:15have come along
34:16here the day and
34:17they knew the
34:17conditions were
34:18going to be
34:18terrible and
34:19they've come
34:19along and
34:20they've paid
34:20their money,
34:20they've supported
34:21their team so
34:22well done to you
34:23guys.
34:23The players,
34:24we played the
34:25conditions,
34:25we played the
34:26conditions and
34:28maybe we played
34:29the conditions
34:30maybe a little bit
34:31better than
34:31Kilmarnock but
34:32we had a lot of
34:33good individual
34:34performances,
34:34it's a huge
34:36three points for
34:37us,
34:37it takes us away
34:39away from the
34:40bottom and gets
34:40us in the mix
34:41which is great for
34:44a new team that
34:45we've put together,
34:45we're sitting here
34:46with 12 points
34:48which is basically
34:49where we were this
34:50time last year so
34:51we're pleased to be
34:51there,
34:52one game to go,
34:53obviously a way to
34:54Aberdeen,
34:54another hard one,
34:55but we're
34:55absolutely delighted
34:56from what we've
34:57achieved today.
34:59And Murrell you
35:00seem to be finding
35:00the replacement for
35:01Barney Stewart who's
35:02the memory of him
35:03maybe disappearing
35:04over the horizon a
35:05wee bit.
35:06Yeah well,
35:07Barney was a
35:08character as well
35:08as Jacob but he's
35:11certainly getting
35:11the goals and
35:11that's key as a
35:13striker,
35:13you're absolutely
35:14judged on your
35:16goals,
35:17your score.
35:18He's peeled off
35:19into the back post
35:19area,
35:20he gets that
35:20header in,
35:22he finishes the
35:23other one so
35:24well,
35:25it's a great
35:25header for the
35:26corner kick,
35:27very much similar
35:27to the one he
35:28scored at
35:28Tanadice a little
35:30bit earlier in
35:30the season.
35:32Yeah,
35:32if he keeps on
35:33doing that there's
35:33absolutely no
35:34doubt he's going
35:34to attract
35:35attention but
35:37this year for
35:37a wee while
35:37hopefully.
35:38The win was
35:39going to end
35:39to end John,
35:40you're 2-0 up at
35:41half time,
35:41did you underline
35:42to your players
35:43that you thought
35:46Kamara would get
35:46into that in the
35:47second half?
35:47Absolutely,
35:48we had the wind
35:48advantage in the
35:49first half and
35:50Kamara had the
35:51wind advantage in
35:51the second half.
35:53I've got to say
35:53though I think we
35:54actually played
35:54better in the
35:55second half
35:55against the wind,
35:56I thought we
35:57had a bit more
35:58control if there
35:59was control that
36:00we got,
36:00I think we got a
36:01little bit more
36:01control.
36:03We did create
36:03some other good
36:04scoring opportunities,
36:05I think
36:05Kamara and
36:07Kamara had a
36:08couple of good
36:08saves as well,
36:09but all in all
36:10a clean sheet,
36:12yeah,
36:12I think Kelly
36:13should definitely
36:13score towards the
36:14end of the game
36:14there.
36:15John McGlynn there,
36:16Chick do the
36:17interviews,
36:17Chick cover the
36:18game for us,
36:19Andy Halliday,
36:20he's down speaking
36:21to Neil McCann,
36:22we'll hear from him
36:22just shortly.
36:23So we've got all
36:24the games coming
36:25into the studio,
36:26what did you make
36:27of that game today?
36:28What was the
36:28difference between
36:29the two sides
36:30do you feel?
36:31Well, to be honest
36:32with you, I think
36:32John McGlynn's just
36:33told you, I think
36:34they played the
36:34conditions in
36:35Kilmarnock never,
36:35we spoke about it
36:36all afternoon long,
36:38the storm, the
36:39rain, the wind,
36:39I think everything
36:40was going to play a
36:41part and it was
36:41going to make it
36:42difficult for
36:43defenders to
36:43defend, judge the
36:45flight of balls and
36:46I think Falkert just
36:47played the space at
36:48times, I think they
36:49tried to put the
36:49ball into Kilmarnock's
36:50box more than
36:51Kilmarnock did and
36:52again, routine
36:54deliveries into the
36:55box when there's no
36:56wind is simple,
36:57when it's blustering
36:5935mph it can
37:00sometimes be a wee
37:00bit more difficult
37:01and you can see
37:02that with Kilmarnock
37:03going two on goals
37:05and Jacob Morel,
37:06I was not critical
37:08but I did say I
37:08worried with Falkert
37:10with the big
37:10turnover, I
37:11played 17 new
37:11signings, losing
37:12essentially the four
37:13best players from
37:14last year, you
37:15could probably say
37:16five or six if you
37:17include the loan
37:17signings and
37:18Philip Lissante
37:18and Brogio last
37:19year and I
37:20hadn't seen too
37:22much at the start
37:22of the season for
37:23me to suggest that
37:25they've improved in
37:26their positions or
37:27got a like for
37:27like, I'm certainly
37:29wrong and Jacob
37:29Morel has got to
37:30be said, that's now
37:31six and six and
37:32he's looking like he
37:32can lead the line
37:34expertly for Falkert,
37:35I think he's got a
37:36bit of everything, he's
37:36got a bit of pace and
37:37athleticism, he's a
37:38well-known runner, his
37:39link-up plays decent
37:40but he always seems
37:40to be in and
37:41around the penalty
37:42area, so you've got
37:43the likes of Ethan
37:44Ross on the right
37:45hand side and Eames
37:45on the left to try
37:46and supply deliveries
37:48for him, he's done
37:49another fantastic job
37:50at A, playing a big
37:51part in the first
37:52goal but then getting
37:52his goal for the
37:53corner for the
37:54second.
37:54Yeah, what they have got
37:55there of course is a top
37:57manager in John
37:58McGlynn, time and
37:58again he has proven
37:59that to us, we're about
38:00to hear from Neil
38:01McCann, a sore one for
38:02him today Tom, we've
38:02got a Killy supporter
38:04will join us, our
38:04fan zone between half
38:05past five and seven
38:06o'clock, that's on
38:07YouTube and also on
38:08BBC Radio Scotland,
38:10it's tough for Killy
38:11isn't it, you just,
38:12they're so unpredictable,
38:13they're involved in
38:14high scoring games
38:15generally, but I think
38:17as a Killy fan you
38:18never quite know what
38:18you're going to get.
38:19Well I think you know
38:21what you're going to
38:21get and that they're
38:22going to be vulnerable
38:23at the back, that is
38:24a predictable thing
38:26about them because
38:26they've conceded 23
38:27goals in 10 games
38:28now, goal difference
38:30of minus 13, there's
38:32no future in that,
38:34Neil McCann will know
38:35it better than
38:35anybody.
38:37They hit the woodwork
38:39today early on, they
38:40didn't have a shot on
38:41target apart from that,
38:433-0, it's probably
38:46fairly reflective of the
38:48way things go, Neil
38:49McCann might, he might
38:50talk about a penalty
38:51incident earlier on in
38:52the game, looked like
38:53there might have been
38:54a handball, Henderson
38:55and then Melnix, both
38:57of them looked like
38:57they may have handled
38:58it, I'm interested to
38:59see what Neil McCann
38:59says about that, if he
39:01does create, if he does
39:02talk about that, but
39:04Killy are, with their
39:06defensive record, they
39:07are in trouble.
39:09Right, let's then hear
39:10from the Killy manager
39:11Neil McCann, he's also
39:12been chatting with
39:13Chick Young.
39:15Neil, clearly a
39:16disappointing afternoon
39:17for you, how much
39:18was the weather, how
39:19much was about your
39:20own team?
39:22A wee bit of both, it
39:24was just a horrible
39:24game of football, Chick
39:25to be honest, conditions
39:26were shocking to try and
39:28play in, the surface
39:29obviously doesn't make
39:31that any easier, but
39:32Focker just did the
39:33basics right today, they
39:34did them better than
39:34us, and that's why
39:36they're really happy with
39:39our, I'd imagine, our
39:40three points.
39:41The last couple of
39:42weeks you seem to be
39:43heading in the right
39:43direction, I mean, what
39:45took you off the rails
39:46today?
39:46Look, I think when you're
39:48trying to play a different
39:49type of game today, because
39:51it didn't merit getting the
39:53ball down, we'd probably
39:54get guilty and caught up
39:55in trying to get the
39:55ball down continually, it
39:57wasn't for that, and as I
39:58said, basic football was
40:00required today, just ask
40:02questions to the defence,
40:03put it in there in
40:03swirling conditions, and
40:06they end up the one quite
40:07comfortably, when you look at
40:10it as a sort of objective
40:13way, you know, yeah, it
40:15wasn't great in many
40:16respects, but football isn't
40:18pretty all the time, and we
40:21had to do the ugly things
40:22right today, and unfortunately
40:24we didn't.
40:24I'm wondering, because the
40:26wind was kind of end-to-end,
40:28so Focker are 2-0 ahead at
40:30half-time, you must have
40:31thought, well, you know, you're
40:32going to get the advantage to
40:33win the second half, and you
40:34didn't really seem to
40:36capitalise on that.
40:37No, we didn't, absolutely,
40:38spot on.
40:39Where do you, I mean, do you
40:41look at your players, or
40:43who's culpable here, is it?
40:44I think we're all culpable
40:45for that.
40:46The sad thing is that our
40:47fans, who came out in great
40:48numbers today, are going
40:50home disappointed, but, look,
40:54it's a sore one right now,
40:56there's no too many things
40:58that you can pour into that
40:59and talk about, you know,
41:00big mistakes being made,
41:02it's just not doing the
41:02basics, you're right, in the
41:03second half, we should have
41:04been asking them the same
41:05questions.
41:05We didn't do that enough,
41:06and, erm, really
41:08disappointing, I just hope
41:09all our fans get home safe
41:10tonight.
41:11I feel, I don't know if
41:13it's anger or angst of
41:15you, erm, what's going
41:17I'm not, I'm not, I'm not
41:18angry with, er, with losing
41:20the game, I'm, I'm, I'm
41:21very disappointed in, in the
41:22manner of his, of our defeat
41:25today, as you rightly said,
41:27both, they've been out of
41:27the park, but three times in
41:28the, in the first half, erm,
41:30they've got two goals, Cal's
41:32made another save, for what I
41:34can remember, and then, er, at
41:36half-time, we had the
41:37opportunity, as you rightly
41:37said, just to ask the same
41:39questions, and we didn't do
41:40enough, we still tried to
41:40play, that wasn't really the
41:42instruction, erm, and we paid
41:45the price.
41:46Right, the commandant
41:47manager, Neil McCann, there
41:49are a lot of these fans that
41:49you referred to left the game
41:51early today, we'll be joined
41:52by a Kelly fan, and our fans
41:53are on a little later in the
41:55programme, so that wraps up
41:56things from the Fall
41:57Kirk Stadium, let's get to the
41:58game at Ibrox, Rangers 4,
42:01St. John's, Neil Peter
42:02Lovencrantz and Rory Loy are
42:04there for us, Peter, fairly
42:06convincing from Rangers, and
42:07then perhaps a slight concern
42:09at half-time, given the
42:09chances that they hadn't
42:10killed the game all, but they
42:11did, they did their
42:12business in the second
42:13half.
42:14Yeah, they were comfortable
42:15winners in the end, I'd say
42:17they were a far better team
42:18in the first half, under
42:20these conditions as well, it's
42:21not easy, and they were
42:22very on the front foot and
42:23dominating the game, pushing
42:25pressure on, and the amount
42:26of set plays they were
42:27creating, and pushing St.
42:29Johnston back, and St.
42:30Johnston was playing with a
42:31back five, and they were
42:32playing on a 5-4-1, and
42:34then they changed at the
42:34half-time, and came out
42:37completely different team,
42:38they matched them up in a
42:394-4-2, and then they put
42:41them under big pressure, and
42:42should have scored
42:43probably, and in the middle
42:45of all that, where they're
42:46doing so well, St.
42:48Johnston, I can't explain
42:51to you what the weather did
42:52at that point, literally
42:53when that goal was about to
42:54go in, it was like swirl of
42:56rain and winds, and it was
42:57absolutely atrocious, and
43:00then a goal goes against
43:01him, and a bit sloppy, and
43:04maybe the goalkeeper should
43:04have saved it, and preventing
43:06it from going to Kelsey,
43:08the back post, but nonetheless,
43:10the Rangers capitalise, and
43:12the momentum just dies for
43:13St.
43:13Johnston there, and it just
43:14got worse from then on, you
43:16know, another goal shortly
43:17after, and the red card, and
43:19then the goal in the end, so
43:19the Rangers went out, a
43:21comfortable winner at the
43:22end, but I wouldn't say it
43:23was comfortable until that
43:25second goal for Rangers went
43:26in, St.
43:27Johnston was real into
43:28potentially getting back into
43:29the game, and causing
43:30the Rangers big, big
43:31problems.
43:32Yeah, Tom English, Derek
43:33McInnes didn't particularly
43:34like the question pre-match
43:36about, you know, the European
43:38situation, you know, he was
43:39talking about that, and you
43:40actually dug out some
43:42interesting stats that would
43:44back up the theory that
43:46Rangers not being in Europe
43:47is going to give them, you
43:48would think, a far greater
43:50chance of going very close in
43:51the domestic title race.
43:52Well, last season, in the
43:54game directly after a European
43:56game, all league games, they
43:58drew with Motherwell, drew
43:59with Dundee, drew with
44:01St.
44:01Mirren, drew with Celtic, drew
44:02with Falkirk, drew with Falkirk
44:04again, and then drew with
44:06Hibs. Now, I think that's,
44:07what's that, 14 points or
44:08something dropped in a game
44:10directly after a European
44:11contest. So, they obviously
44:12don't have those European
44:13contests. This time, they
44:16should be fresher. Today, they
44:19laboured a little bit, but
44:20they were never in any danger,
44:23and eventually got the four
44:24goals, and to be honest, if
44:25it was six, they wouldn't have
44:26been flattered by that. So,
44:28they're looking, you can see
44:30the benefits of not playing in
44:31Europe, for sure. They're
44:33obvious.
44:33Yeah, Rudi Loy is also
44:35alongside Peter there, and
44:36Ibrox. Rory, the takeaway for
44:38both sets of fans leaving
44:39Ibrox today?
44:41Well, there's not a lot St.
44:42Johnson can take away from
44:43it, other than that kind of
44:4410, 15-minute spell that
44:46Peter spoke of, whether we're
44:47very good. Rangers took a
44:48little bit of time to adjust.
44:50I'm seeing them with
44:51Alicari. He'll probably look
44:52at a good start to the
44:53season, and a bit cliched,
44:55but, you know, you've got a
44:57game in midweek. I think you
44:58just put this one to the
44:59side. Yes, you analyse it,
45:00you do not overanalyse it,
45:02because I don't think there's
45:02any need to do so. And, you
45:05know, you look to midweek and
45:06the preparations ahead of that.
45:08I think from a Rangers' point
45:09of view, Derek McInnes will be
45:10keen to eradicate those 10,
45:1215-minute spells where it can
45:13change so quickly. Don't get
45:15me wrong, Kelsey's chance in the
45:17first half to make it 2-0, he's
45:18got to score. And he misses, and
45:21the keeper saves it, and he
45:23shouldn't have an opportunity to
45:24save it. And then that is cruise
45:25control from there on out, I
45:26think, as soon as the second
45:28goal goes in, I think St
45:29Johnson went from, you know,
45:31let's have a wee go and see if
45:32we can get something to, right,
45:342-0, let's kind of shut up
45:36shop, let's not try and concede
45:37too many more, and obviously
45:38they ultimately did. So, I think
45:40Rangers can take a lot away from
45:41it. No injuries during the
45:43game, they've got everybody
45:44through it. I think there are two
45:45strikers scoring goals, Peter
45:46will tell you, it's always
45:47important that your strikers are
45:48scoring. Nadiri, maybe I was a
45:51wee bit harsh on him earlier, but
45:52I still at times would like to
45:53see a little bit more outside the
45:55box, because I think he's got
45:56it in him. But those two
45:58scoring, I think they're two
45:59wide men as well, Minsu, coming
46:01in the pitch was excellent.
46:04Penrice's, his adaptability to
46:05play left back then into
46:06midfield, there's a lot of good
46:07things going on for Rangers at
46:08this moment in time, Kenny. And
46:10just on the European stuff, I
46:11genuinely think it hurts Derek
46:13McInnes that he was
46:14responsible or at the helm for
46:16what happened with them failing
46:18to qualify for Europe, and I
46:20think that's why he doesn't
46:21like talking about it, and I
46:23think that's a mark of him
46:24that it affects him. I
46:25genuinely think it hurts him
46:27when he's asked that question,
46:28because he knows that
46:30ultimately he's culpable as
46:31much as the players for that,
46:32and I think he's slightly
46:33embarrassed by it, and I think
46:34that's why it just reminds him
46:36of it. I think that's a fair
46:37point, Rory. I think that's a
46:38very fair point. Listen, thanks to
46:40Rory and Peter there at Ibrox,
46:42Rangers 4, St.
46:43Johnson, Nill. Willie
46:43Miller had the game of the day in
46:45front of a big crowd at
46:47Tannerised, and United 3,
46:49Aberdeen 2, just so much to
46:51talk about, Willie. We don't
46:52have much time left on television.
46:54Just sum up what you saw this
46:55afternoon. It was just such an
46:56open game, wasn't it?
46:58Oh, it was, Kenny. It was a big
47:02pitch, you know, where there was
47:03plenty of space. The defences
47:05seemed to stay back most of the
47:07time, you know, and never pushed
47:08up to the halfway line, so that
47:10gave, you know, the pitch a kind
47:12of a bigger look and a bigger
47:13opportunity for midfield players
47:15to find possession. Now, what I saw
47:18of the game, I thought both teams
47:19were excellent. I thought, you
47:21know, the conditions here were
47:24abysmal to begin with during the
47:26game and still is abysmal at this
47:29moment in time, and, you know,
47:32when you're asking players to get
47:34the ball down and pass it in these
47:36conditions, it's not easy, but they
47:37did. You know, both sets of players
47:39got it down. There was very, very
47:41little long passing. There was very
47:43little end-to-end with long
47:45passing. The end-to-end stuff was all
47:47in the ground, so you were playing
47:49through the thirds, you were
47:50playing through midfield. There was
47:52a lot of good link-up play from
47:54both sets of players, and we saw
47:56some magnificent goals as well. It
47:58was a nice edge, I thought, and, you
48:00know, the stats surprised me a little
48:01bit. You know, my eye didn't tell me
48:03that Aberdeen had that many touches
48:06inside the box, but I think at times
48:08it was a little bit crowded in there.
48:10I don't know how they count these
48:11touches, obviously. If it's when it's
48:14bouncing about, then it can easily
48:16mount up. But for me, I thought it was
48:18pretty even, the game. I thought the
48:21fans should have, and the Aberdeen
48:23fans didn't, they were unhappy. I
48:24thought they should have recognised
48:25that that was a decent performance
48:27from their team. United come out and
48:29talk, they played some slick football,
48:30but so did Aberdeen. And, you know,
48:32the winner was football. The winner
48:34was the fans that get off their seat,
48:37into their car, into their buses,
48:38into the trains, and came here to watch
48:40a game of football in these conditions. It
48:42was absolutely superb. Give me more
48:45football like that. Forget about, no,
48:47but seriously, forget about, forget
48:49about all the slow passing, you know,
48:51in your own box for the goalkeeper to
48:53centre-backs. Yeah, you can start it
48:55like that, but you've got to have,
48:57you've got to have the drive to play
49:00front foot football, and that's what I
49:01saw this afternoon. It was brilliant.
49:03It was a great game. Thanks to
49:04Willie Miller up there at Tannery. So,
49:07Dundee United 3, Aberdeen 2. Let's now
49:09hear from the United manager, Jim Goodwin.
49:12Jim, over 10,000 here, woeful
49:14conditions, but what a game of football
49:16the fans had to watch this afternoon.
49:19What was your take on it? Yeah, I thought
49:21it was a terrific game, Brian. I think
49:22both sets of players deserve a huge
49:24amount of credit. You know, no doubt
49:27Steven Robinson and his players will be
49:28disappointed not to have taken anything
49:31on today, because I thought they were
49:31very good at times, and certainly had
49:34their moments in the game, but, you know,
49:36just delighted in the manner that we
49:38were able to win the game. The
49:39disappointment of the third goal being
49:42chalked off with Sapsford, I thought
49:44it was just a brilliant passage of
49:45play from us in terms of breaking
49:47lines, ball around the corner, brilliant
49:49movement in the box and cutback, and I
49:51think it's a little bit harsh, if I'm
49:52being totally honest, having watched it
49:54back, it's a subjective one. Some
49:56referees will give it against you, some
49:58will not, and unfortunately today,
50:00David Dickinson has ruled it out for
50:02offside, but credit to the group. They
50:05dug deep at times, you know, Aberdeen
50:07don't mess about with the ball in the
50:09wide areas, they look to try and get,
50:10you know, lots of crosses into the box,
50:13and two centre-halves were
50:14outstanding, you know, Michael Forbes
50:15is playing with a big gash on the
50:17side of his face, had to get stitches
50:19at half-time, Bert Esling's been kicked
50:21in the head a couple of times, and
50:22that's what you need from your leaders
50:24at the back to go and put their neck
50:26on the line, because it's worth it at
50:27the end of the day, and then I think
50:28the goal that we eventually get to go
50:31and win it was, again, brilliant, you
50:33know, crossing from the left, managed to
50:34keep it alive on the far side, and then
50:36Sarvesport's movement getting between
50:37the two centre-backs was just a
50:40terrific all-round performance in, as
50:41you say, really, really difficult
50:43conditions.
50:43It was like a game of tennis at times,
50:45Jim, the ball was pinging from
50:47goal-mouth to goal-mouth, do you think
50:48conditions played a big part, because
50:50it was a very quick pitch out there?
50:52Yeah, I mean, I think the conditions
50:53certainly did play a part, but I was
50:55delighted with the players' fitness
50:57levels, you know, and even the
50:58substitutes that come on and make a
51:00really positive impact when players
51:01are getting a little bit tired, you
51:03know, Yoro and Faruja and Lackey Rose,
51:05real energy, you know, just to try and
51:07get us up the pitch again, so, no,
51:10listen, I thought there was a lot of
51:11good talent out on the pitch in both
51:13teams, you know, Aberdeen are
51:14absolutely no mugs, you know, I spoke
51:16to you before the game, I think
51:17Steven Robinson and his players have
51:19been coming in for some unnecessary
51:21criticism, if I'm being honest, but
51:23they've got a lot of talent there with
51:24Armstrong and Nisbet and Connor
51:26Ronan, and it caused teams a lot of
51:28problems, but thankfully we were able
51:30to come out on the right side of the
51:31result, and it's a massive three
51:33points for us.
51:34Well done to Jim Goodwin and his
51:36Dundee United side, we're on
51:38television for another minute or so
51:39guys, so your takeaway from this
51:40afternoon's games?
51:41How good Scottish football?
51:43I mean, four games, 15 goals,
51:46mistakes, good goals, controversial
51:49VAR decisions, which I thought were
51:50in there today as well, everything
51:52that I love about Scottish football,
51:53I thought we got there this
51:54afternoon, brilliant entertainment.
51:56My takeaway is that you can't
51:58predict anything in this league.
52:00It's all part of the beauty.
52:02St Mirren 2, Dundee 1, who saw that
52:04one coming?
52:05No, I mean, it's, and actually stay
52:07tuned on the radio, we'll hear from
52:08Craig Wincles, it was a big win for
52:09them today, some ugly scenes at the end
52:11of the game, again we'll talk about
52:12Alan Preston is there for us, so it's
52:14been another busy and dramatic day in
52:17Scottish football, so the conversation
52:18will continue on BBC Radio Scotland,
52:21we're on there right through until
52:22seven o'clock, also on YouTube,
52:24between half past five and seven
52:25o'clock, that's our fan zone, get your
52:27comments in, you'll find us there
52:29under BBC Scottish football, but it's
52:31time now to say goodbye, it's been a
52:33most remarkable day again in Scottish
52:35football, as Andy Halliday said, so for
52:36those of you tuned in on television
52:38and iPlayer, thanks for joining us,
52:40joining us again very, very soon, it's
52:42been a great day, it's been a really
52:43busy day in Scottish football, plenty
52:45more to come on the radio, enjoy your
52:46Saturday, bye for now.
