00:00:19¶¶
00:00:38Good evening and welcome to Sports Scene.
00:00:40It's been a long old day awaiting the late kick-off at Dens Park,
00:00:44but myself and Richard Foster are ready to go.
00:00:47Four games took place today at 3 o'clock.
00:00:50We begin at bottom of the table, Kilmarnock,
00:00:52where visitors Motherwell arrived on a four-game losing streak.
00:00:58It may only be the ninth game of the league season,
00:01:01but there's a great deal resting on this one.
00:01:03Kilmarnock looking to move off the bottom of the table,
00:01:06while Motherwell have lost four on the bounce
00:01:08as their season is starting to fall a little flat.
00:01:13Goal scoring an obvious problem for both sides of late,
00:01:16but it's not for the lack of attacking talent.
00:01:18We shall see what gives today.
00:01:22Kilmarnock lost 3-1 at Rangers at the weekend.
00:01:24Bailey Rice unable to play against his parent club.
00:01:28He returns, and the Tishpola is the player making way.
00:01:33Motherwell are looking for a strong reaction to the loss against Celtic.
00:01:36Tawanda Maswanhisi has got a great goal-scoring record against Kili,
00:01:40returns, as does Ibrahim Saeed.
00:01:42Dylan Leavitt and Willie Volk, the players making way.
00:01:52That's just a little bit careless.
00:01:54Here's the opportunity for Kili.
00:01:56John Jules moves it back to Kilti.
00:01:58Great block back again to Kilti.
00:02:00And what a start for Kilmarnock.
00:02:03Greg Kilti on the score sheet.
00:02:05Motherwell playing out for the back and got absolutely caught.
00:02:09Great opening for the home side.
00:02:11And it's the skipper who puts them ahead.
00:02:14Alex Pogson may regret his part in this goal.
00:02:18Simple ball forward, played it way fast.
00:02:21And they had numbers back, Motherwell.
00:02:24But Greg Kilti got the break of the ball.
00:02:27Off Tom Sparrow.
00:02:28And made absolutely no mistake.
00:02:34What a start for Kilmarnock to have had trouble scoring goals.
00:02:39Greg Kilti gets them moving.
00:02:43And on to O'Donnell it goes.
00:02:49Again, it's good play from Kilmarnock.
00:02:51Joe Hugo with a chance for a second goal.
00:02:55Pulled it wide.
00:02:58Well, again, Motherwell, the architects of their own mischief.
00:03:04And in came Joe Hugo.
00:03:05Beautifully played through.
00:03:06Got the first touch away.
00:03:08Goes down as a big chance.
00:03:20It's a lovely ball over the top.
00:03:22Mugello controls it well.
00:03:24Into the middle it goes.
00:03:24Chance could save.
00:03:26There's the follow-up.
00:03:27And Alex Lowry scores.
00:03:29Terrific movement from Motherwell.
00:03:31And they find the equaliser.
00:03:35Alex Lowry.
00:03:36And scored against both Dundee clubs.
00:03:39Helps himself to his third of the season.
00:03:41And he's first against Kilmarnock.
00:03:44Lovely shift of play.
00:03:46Killy were caught on the inside.
00:03:47Langello played it in.
00:03:49It's a good save initially from the goalkeeper.
00:03:51That could do nothing about the follow-up.
00:03:55And that's nicely finished.
00:03:57Langello on to the inside.
00:03:59Seb Palmer holding denied.
00:04:01But Alex Lowry was not to be.
00:04:031-1.
00:04:13Just a little bit lightweight on that occasion.
00:04:15And here's Maswan.
00:04:16He's saying.
00:04:18Off the woodwork.
00:04:20Well, he normally finds the net.
00:04:23Scored in all three meetings against Killy last season.
00:04:26Pounced on the error.
00:04:28Cut inside.
00:04:29Beat the goalkeeper.
00:04:31But glanced against the wood rather than nestling in the net.
00:04:39One apiece.
00:04:42It's taken down.
00:04:44Not well enough.
00:04:45Here's Ibrahim Saeed.
00:04:46Looking to put his side ahead.
00:04:48Ferry with the save.
00:04:49Palmer Holden will cut it back.
00:04:52Maswan Hisek digs it across.
00:04:54Jimmy Brandon's first involvement is to clear.
00:04:57It's a really good save from the goalkeeper.
00:05:00Driving it wide.
00:05:01Rather than back into the path of Seb Palmer Holden.
00:05:04Saeed got power into it.
00:05:06That was well played by Caleb Ferry.
00:05:09I suspect he's happy with the way Saeed reacted to going a goal down.
00:05:14Less happy about the manner of the goal.
00:05:17Hugo will chase through.
00:05:19Wormer won't get there.
00:05:20Played in behind.
00:05:22There is John Jules.
00:05:23Let's fly.
00:05:24Good stop from the goalkeeper.
00:05:25Comes back again.
00:05:27And Moorman comes across.
00:05:29Well, Tyrese John Jules.
00:05:31His only goal this season has come off the bench in the League Cup against Aberdeen.
00:05:37Thought he'd pulled his first Scottish Premiership goal of the season.
00:05:41Drove it in.
00:05:41Pogs had made the save.
00:05:55Oh, that's a late challenge.
00:05:58And it's a straight red.
00:06:00It looked bad.
00:06:02Lowry was taken down.
00:06:05Well, Stanger was trying to get himself back up.
00:06:08And the leg came out.
00:06:10Well, VAR will check it.
00:06:13So he goes to ground.
00:06:15And it was the leg following through.
00:06:18And the referee's right there.
00:06:21He's been asked to go to the monitor.
00:06:24And there could be a solid argument here for a yellow card.
00:06:29All about interpretation.
00:06:35Certainly from that angle, which I think is the best angle, it doesn't look like serious fall play.
00:06:42And it will go to yellow.
00:06:44But it's all about the angles and what you see and where.
00:06:48And VAR determining the downgrade to yellow.
00:07:02So it remains 11 men against 11.
00:07:07Saeed.
00:07:11Oh, Faddinger.
00:07:13Back on to Lowry.
00:07:15Stroking the ball about well now, Motherwell.
00:07:18Saeed into the middle.
00:07:19Chance it, Palmer Holden scrambles it in.
00:07:24Well, it wasn't a work of art, but it all counts.
00:07:28It's exactly what you want for your centre forward.
00:07:31Right time, right place.
00:07:33And beat the goalkeeper.
00:07:35Saeed, centre across.
00:07:36And Seb Palmer Holden, goalkeeper.
00:07:39Perhaps a tad unfortunate.
00:07:41The touch.
00:07:42And then back off the forward.
00:07:45And Motherwell won't care.
00:07:46They're ahead.
00:07:56There's a little ball across.
00:07:58It was a dangerous one.
00:07:59Poulsen.
00:08:00Well, he put his hand out for it.
00:08:02Rather than two.
00:08:04Here's Kiltie.
00:08:08John Jewels plays it back in.
00:08:10Kiltie deflection.
00:08:11Good save.
00:08:13That came off Merman.
00:08:15And Poulsen had to reach out.
00:08:18That's a fine reaction save.
00:08:20To avoid the on-goal.
00:08:22We'd have seen Killy level.
00:08:24Kiltie.
00:08:31Brandon returns it.
00:08:34John Jewels trying to run his man.
00:08:35There's a chance.
00:08:37And there's the equaliser.
00:08:39Tyrese John Jewels rattles it home.
00:08:43At Kilmanneker level.
00:08:48The ball played back into the danger area.
00:08:51Brandon with a header.
00:08:52Kugel with a little dummy on the inside.
00:08:55And it ran through.
00:08:58That's a fantastic finish.
00:09:00A fierce finish.
00:09:02And it was the power that got it past Poulsen.
00:09:14It's a decent ball through.
00:09:16Might fall for Greg Kiltie.
00:09:17Out of nothing.
00:09:20Kalmanneker regained the leads.
00:09:22It's the second of the afternoon for Greg Kiltie.
00:09:25He now equals his goal tally for last turn.
00:09:29Well, sometimes football is a simple game.
00:09:32And a simple through ball.
00:09:35But a highly effective finish.
00:09:38Brandon's ball over the top.
00:09:39Pugel tried to get the touch on it.
00:09:41Beats the defenders.
00:09:42And drilled into the corner.
00:09:45Great control.
00:09:46Even better finish.
00:09:49And it's a 100th senior win for Kilmanneker against Mullerwell.
00:09:54They're 92nd in the league.
00:09:56They took the lead.
00:09:57They fell behind.
00:09:58And they regained the lead once more.
00:10:01Cracking encounter.
00:10:02Finished Kilmanneker three.
00:10:04Mullerwell two.
00:10:07It's not an enjoyable job sometimes.
00:10:08But we've got to be a wee bit of a crazy honest to enjoy it.
00:10:12Actually, there's so much to like about it now.
00:10:16The first goal was a good press, good set-up from ourselves.
00:10:20Because we knew that they would play.
00:10:21It's the way that Alfred wants his team to operate.
00:10:25And then the sad thing is, obviously, Cal makes a brilliant save.
00:10:28And Lowry knocks it into the goal.
00:10:29And we're pegged back.
00:10:30But we adjusted a few things at half-time.
00:10:33Had a few things to say.
00:10:34And I thought the second half completely deserved their win.
00:10:37The first one was crazy, wasn't it?
00:10:39The way you lost it.
00:10:41Yeah, that's something, obviously, that can happen in football.
00:10:45That you make a mistake.
00:10:46But I'm more concerned with the solidity of how we protect our own box in the long balls in the
00:10:51second half.
00:10:52Which I think is basics that we're failing.
00:10:55And that's not enough.
00:10:56I sense a little bit of anger from you.
00:10:58Yeah, I can't accept how we end this game.
00:11:02It's really difficult to accept losing that game.
00:11:05An incredible game that just about ended.
00:11:07Chick Young on Open All-Mic this afternoon.
00:11:09Never heard him so excited.
00:11:11It was very entertaining and a massive win for Kelly.
00:11:13We'll get into it all.
00:11:14But it only took two minutes for Greg Hilty to get the first goal.
00:11:17Calamitous.
00:11:18Yeah, I mean, it's awful for Motherwell.
00:11:21You know, you're away from home.
00:11:22Keep it nice and solid for the first 10-15 minutes.
00:11:25You see where the Motherwell press is, sorry, the Kermarnock press.
00:11:28It's got to go to the right-hand side.
00:11:30It doesn't.
00:11:30The goalkeeper plays a soft ball into the middle of the pitch.
00:11:33And the first play to Kermarnock, great set-up when they're on it.
00:11:35They do get a bit of fortune there.
00:11:38Stephen O'Donnell turns his back on it and it breaks back to Kiltie and he rolls it in the corner.
00:11:42But, like I say, you're struggling.
00:11:43You've no one in four games.
00:11:44You're away from home.
00:11:45Just keep it nice and solid.
00:11:47I know they want to play out from the back.
00:11:48But that's just horrendous play from Motherwell.
00:11:51Why did you choose that middle option?
00:11:53I don't know.
00:11:53I don't know.
00:11:54I mean, he kicks a good ball long.
00:11:56But you see again here, centre-back trying to beat the striker.
00:12:00And actually, it's a really poor finish here.
00:12:02But this was two minutes after the goal had just conceded.
00:12:05So I get that you have a way that you want to play.
00:12:08But sometimes in-game, you have to make better choices and better decisions.
00:12:12This is just another poor finish.
00:12:13You know, a ball down the side.
00:12:15And Motherwell were so exposed in the early part of the game.
00:12:19Kermarnock, unfortunately, not to score.
00:12:20I think Neil liked it with a double thumbs up.
00:12:22Double thumbs.
00:12:22That obviously means that he's done a good job, yeah.
00:12:25Motherwell hit back through Lowry and Seb Palmer Holden as they kind of got to grips with the game a
00:12:30wee bit.
00:12:31Yeah, and they did come back into the game.
00:12:32I mean, Neil won't be happy with this.
00:12:34It's one ball over the top.
00:12:35A bit of miscommunication between the Kermarnock players.
00:12:39And then it's a fantastic ball across.
00:12:40Wonderful save from the goalkeeper.
00:12:43And then Lowry keeps his composure and it's a good finish.
00:12:45But you see here, they've got quite a high line.
00:12:47There's no pressure on the ball.
00:12:49Bit of mix-up in the right back area there.
00:12:51Too easy.
00:12:52It is too easy.
00:12:53Langella makes the most of it and a great finish from Lowry.
00:12:56But, you know, so defending from both teams in the early part of the game wasn't great.
00:13:01But it did make for a really, really entertaining game.
00:13:04Yeah, that's the thing, isn't it?
00:13:05Yeah, and this one is, it's a wonderful cross.
00:13:08Great ball in from Saeed.
00:13:09But if you look at the defending here, I think it's Lars.
00:13:12And he gets out there and he just stops.
00:13:13And, you know, he goes with the wrong foot to start with.
00:13:17He's already there.
00:13:17He can go another yard.
00:13:18You look at the middle of the goal.
00:13:20The defender's actually touching Seb Palmer Holden.
00:13:22Yeah, he's got him.
00:13:23Just block his run.
00:13:24But he doesn't do anything.
00:13:25And, you know, unfortunate for the goalkeeper.
00:13:27Again, the ball's bundled in.
00:13:28But so avoidable, these goals.
00:13:30Yeah.
00:13:30I think they're pretty much all the goals in the game there.
00:13:33Kelly, they showed a brilliant reaction after that to go and get two goals of their own.
00:13:37And Neil felt as though it was warrantied.
00:13:39They deserved it in the second half.
00:13:41Absolutely.
00:13:41I do think Kilmanock were the better side.
00:13:44But you look at this defending here.
00:13:46Just a header in.
00:13:47Poor from Moorman.
00:13:49Poor from Stephen O'Donnell.
00:13:50It's a great finish.
00:13:51Take nothing away from John Jules.
00:13:52But it's so soft from Motherwell.
00:13:54So weak.
00:13:55And, you know, you heard the manager speak about it.
00:13:58It's just, if you watch it here, there's no aggression.
00:14:00There's no one going to win the ball.
00:14:01First centre-half's underneath it.
00:14:03Second centre-half's underneath it.
00:14:05And the striker gets his finish away.
00:14:07And this one is just...
00:14:08By the way, they've made a triple substitution right before this.
00:14:11They take Moorman off.
00:14:13Reich gets caught under the ball.
00:14:14Tom Sparrow's sleeping at the back post.
00:14:16Kilty steals in and it's a great finish.
00:14:18But you look here.
00:14:19There's no real danger.
00:14:21And Motherwell conspired to make an absolute mess of it.
00:14:24And then they end up losing the game.
00:14:26Yeah, Kilty was excellent today.
00:14:27I mean, Neil McCann feels this has been coming.
00:14:30I mean, it's only one defeat and five.
00:14:32Two wins and two draws.
00:14:34And looking at the table, they're only four points off sick.
00:14:38So I think at the start, there was a bit of panic amongst Kilmarnock's supporters.
00:14:42He seems to have steadied that ship.
00:14:44And when you look at the table, it's so congested.
00:14:46If he can keep this momentum going, and he's always going to try to find a positive anyway,
00:14:51then he's pretty sure that Kilmarnock will jump up the table.
00:14:54Do you agree with him?
00:14:55Yeah, I have to agree with him.
00:14:56I think in the early part, they were conceding too many goals.
00:14:59And they're never going to outscore teams every single week.
00:15:03So I think they arrested that.
00:15:05They managed to, you know, they've still got the worst record in the league so far.
00:15:10But the more clean sheets to get, they'll bring that down.
00:15:14I know they conceded two today.
00:15:15But I think, I don't think they've got the points that their performance has deserved.
00:15:19Today, they've got the points that they deserved.
00:15:21For Motherwell, five defeats in a row for Alfred Johansson.
00:15:25You shouldn't really compare him to Jens Bertolascoe and the players that he had,
00:15:29because a lot of those top players have left some of his very best.
00:15:34But the defeats are concerning.
00:15:36The manner of football is slightly concerning.
00:15:38Should the Motherwell fans be concerned about it?
00:15:42Or do you think it's too early to be overly concerned?
00:15:45It's too early to be, you know, be over the top with a concern.
00:15:50There will be a worry because they've gone on this run.
00:15:52And it doesn't look like changing any time soon.
00:15:54I think they play Hearts next.
00:15:56It's a really, really tough game.
00:15:58And I think he has to try and do something a little bit different.
00:16:01I'm not saying completely change everything.
00:16:02But you have to try and make yourself more difficult to score against.
00:16:06Because at the moment, everyone will look at Motherwell and think,
00:16:08I can't wait to play them because there's goals in the game.
00:16:10Yeah, OK.
00:16:11St Mirren travelled to Pataudry on the back of four consecutive defeats.
00:16:16The home side's form has been unpredictable at best.
00:16:21Stephen Robinson will hope his old team continue their charitable mood of late
00:16:25as Aberdeen look to find the net at Pataudry for the first time since August.
00:16:29St Mirren arrived, having shipped eight in their last two games
00:16:32amid a run of four straight defeats.
00:16:35Given Aberdeen's need for goals, it's a boost.
00:16:37Top scorer Kevin Nisbet has been passed fit to play despite a hamstring strain.
00:16:41Stephen Robinson has changed the shape and brought in Smith,
00:16:44Olesagna, Aremu and Mayo following defeat by St Johnston.
00:16:47Marcus Frazier's fit to captain St Mirren again as they look to shore up their defence.
00:16:52Luke Thomas makes his first Premiership start and Esiola Sule leads the line.
00:16:56Fieldson, Taylor and Mockery drop out.
00:17:08Guinness Walker.
00:17:11A big afternoon for Aberdeen as they look to entertain the home fans.
00:17:16It's something they've not done in the last three matches.
00:17:20Here's Lyons.
00:17:23And it opens up for him and he goes for it!
00:17:28That is a beauty from Brad Lyons.
00:17:33And what's a way for Aberdeen fans to start enjoying goals at Petraudry again.
00:17:40Two minutes into the game and St Mirren set off Brad Lyons and are punished for it.
00:17:49He could not have hit it any better.
00:17:53Kisses the underside of the bar and leaves Chapman flailing.
00:17:58And it is Aberdeen 1.
00:18:00St Mirren 0.
00:18:03Lyons with a ripper.
00:18:10Couldn't have asked for a better start.
00:18:12Steven Robinson.
00:18:13Craig McLeish's side behind early again.
00:18:18Carr.
00:18:19John.
00:18:21And C.O.
00:18:21Back to Declan.
00:18:22John.
00:18:23Nice football from St Mirren.
00:18:24Pulled back to Phillips.
00:18:26And again.
00:18:28That's a special bit of goalkeeping from Marius Muller.
00:18:32Phillips, the former Don, probably should score.
00:18:35Muller did his part.
00:18:37So did Mats Knuster on the follow-up as well.
00:18:41Good response from the visitors to going behind.
00:18:52John.
00:18:55And St Mirren looking for the free kick there.
00:18:59Play on.
00:19:01Here's Declan John.
00:19:03Gets the return pass.
00:19:07Puts his hands on his head.
00:19:09Declan John.
00:19:10Ought to have flashed that across the face of goal.
00:19:13Finds the side of the net.
00:19:21St Mirren have been in control of this game since going behind after two minutes.
00:19:27Here's Thomas.
00:19:28Hoists it to Sula at the back post.
00:19:31And Muller bails out Aberdeen again.
00:19:38St Mirren chapping at the door.
00:19:42Muller at full stretch.
00:19:48And way by Gogic.
00:19:50Aremu.
00:19:56Ronan.
00:19:57Guinness Walker.
00:19:59Hoists it in.
00:20:01Nisbet got there.
00:20:04Couldn't make good contact.
00:20:06And the chance disappears.
00:20:13Half-time knocking.
00:20:14Still Aberdeen lead.
00:20:15Somehow.
00:20:17Guinness Walker's been caught out here.
00:20:20Thomas delays to Phillips.
00:20:22Cut back.
00:20:23Sula.
00:20:24And this time St Mirren make it count.
00:20:31Looks like Sula enjoyed his first Premiership goal in St Mirren colours.
00:20:38Thoroughly deserved for the visitors.
00:20:43They've worked hard.
00:20:44They've created chances.
00:20:46And Sula.
00:20:47This time.
00:20:49Beats Muller.
00:20:50Who does get a touch.
00:20:52But can't keep it out.
00:20:54Aberdeen won.
00:20:55St Mirren won.
00:21:02It's a wrestling match.
00:21:05Between Mayo and Sula.
00:21:07And Aberdeen play it forwards.
00:21:10It's Ola Sanya.
00:21:12For Smith.
00:21:14Takes a deflection.
00:21:15Armstrong.
00:21:16And again.
00:21:17Offside flag is up.
00:21:20And Stuart Armstrong knew it wouldn't count.
00:21:25Goes too early.
00:21:27In the half-time sub.
00:21:34Aberdeen free kick.
00:21:36Comes to Joghan.
00:21:38He's brought down by Nseo.
00:21:40And the yellow card's out for the St Mirren midfielder.
00:21:44And it's a free kick.
00:21:45Right on the edge of the box.
00:21:50And Sula rushes out to try and block the shot now.
00:21:53Joghan's foot looks on the line there.
00:21:56And this could be checked for a potential penalty.
00:22:00Nervous wait for St Mirren and Paul and Sula.
00:22:05Yeah.
00:22:05It's an Aberdeen penalty.
00:22:08And as soon as you saw the replay.
00:22:10You can see Joghan's foot's on the whitewash inside the box.
00:22:15Nesbitt steps up.
00:22:17Saved by Chapman.
00:22:18And Nesbitt turns it in on the rebound.
00:22:22Huge relief for the Aberdeen captain.
00:22:26The Aberdeen manager.
00:22:28And the Aberdeen fans.
00:22:30They've been second best for a lot of this game.
00:22:34Given an opportunity.
00:22:36And Nesbitt eventually takes it.
00:22:44Ayod Moolua.
00:22:46Coming on to replace Toyosi or Lasagna.
00:22:50He's managed to recover from concussion to feature this afternoon.
00:22:56Armstrong.
00:22:57Armstrong.
00:22:57He's made a difference since coming on.
00:23:02Aberdeen free kick.
00:23:08Aruemu.
00:23:09Slides it forward to Moolua.
00:23:11Straight into the action.
00:23:12Shifts onto the right foot.
00:23:13Oh, that's brilliant.
00:23:17Super sub.
00:23:19Ayod Moolua.
00:23:21Bags Aberdeen's third goal.
00:23:23And puts them on their way.
00:23:25To a massive three points.
00:23:29Quick thinking from the free kick.
00:23:31From Aruemu.
00:23:32And that is a real striker's finish.
00:23:34Couple of touches.
00:23:36Onto the right foot.
00:23:37Away from Gogic.
00:23:39And nestles the ball into the far corner.
00:23:42Aberdeen 3 St Miran 1.
00:23:47And Stephen Robinson.
00:23:48His staff and his players.
00:23:50Will breathe a huge sigh of relief.
00:23:53Been far better in this second half.
00:23:56Armstrong.
00:23:57Finds Kevin Nisbet.
00:23:59Chance to kill it.
00:24:00Stone dead.
00:24:01And the heavy touch.
00:24:03Invites Chapman off his line.
00:24:05And the St Miran goalkeeper.
00:24:07Makes the stop.
00:24:11These are the sort of chances Nisbet would back himself to take.
00:24:16Big victory for Aberdeen.
00:24:19End there.
00:24:19Pull run at Pataudry.
00:24:21Ayod Moolua.
00:24:23Playing a massive role.
00:24:25Kevin Nisbet.
00:24:27Also on the score sheet in the second half.
00:24:29And everyone is smutched up here at Pataudry.
00:24:32It's a fifth defeat in a row for St Miran.
00:24:35Started really, really well.
00:24:37With a great goal.
00:24:38And then we sat back and were way, way too cautious.
00:24:40Played with a little bit of fear.
00:24:41And credit to St Miran.
00:24:43They played some really good stuff.
00:24:45But I thought second half we were very, very good.
00:24:47You know, showed real bravery.
00:24:49It could have been more goals as well.
00:24:51You know, we had numerous chances where we were through and goal and didn't take.
00:24:54You know, you go in at half time a bit disappointed.
00:24:57And you get a reaction.
00:24:58The other hide.
00:24:59Or they come out and fight and show their quality.
00:25:01And they've certainly done that second half.
00:25:02At this level, it's like, yeah, we can play our good stuff and things.
00:25:05But we have to score goals.
00:25:07We have to stop goals going in.
00:25:08Ultimately, we're only going to get judged off of putting points on the board.
00:25:12But we can't have that kind of soft underbelly to us.
00:25:15Can't just be the team that's going, oh, they play some nice stuff.
00:25:18Like, we have to be ruthless.
00:25:20And we have to make sure that we're stronger than that in kind of tough moments during games.
00:25:26Both teams needed the win.
00:25:27But it was the Dons who got all three points up at Pataudry.
00:25:30Brad Lyons will not score a better goal than this in his life, will he?
00:25:34Absolutely a fantastic strike so early in the game.
00:25:36A lot of control over it.
00:25:38You see here the ball in midfield.
00:25:40Where Paul Inseil is, I don't know.
00:25:43He's in no man's land.
00:25:44You see everyone else behind is marked up.
00:25:47Carr comes across here, lets him back inside the pitch too easily.
00:25:51And then you've got to go to the ball.
00:25:53I mean, Carr tries to get back half-heartedly.
00:25:55But Inseil doesn't do anything.
00:25:57And then he turns his back.
00:26:00And it's a brilliant goal.
00:26:03Absolutely fantastic from Brad Lyons.
00:26:05But it's so avoidable.
00:26:06Or maybe not avoidable, but at least get pressure on the ball and make it a harder finish for him.
00:26:10But he's got time to take a touch here.
00:26:12He looks up, just strolls into a better position.
00:26:15And then, to be fair, he unleashes an absolute end goal.
00:26:16Oh, that finish.
00:26:17You're right, though.
00:26:17He's taken three touches and set himself to the point where it's set exactly as he wants it to be
00:26:23before he hits it.
00:26:23He's under no pressure.
00:26:25He's, what, 23, 24 yards out there.
00:26:28You need to get pressure on the ball.
00:26:29Still some finish.
00:26:30They went on to dominate the first half after that goal and created numerous chances before getting a deserved leveller.
00:26:37Yeah, they just seem to have a real energy about them.
00:26:41They move the ball really well.
00:26:43A lot of one-twos.
00:26:44Everyone's an option for each other.
00:26:48Phillips there should probably get a better strike away.
00:26:50Look at the defending here from Aberdeen.
00:26:52They just allow the left-back to run through and he should go across goal.
00:26:55I think Sula's looking there for a cutback.
00:26:58But, yeah, apart from the finish, I think the goalkeeper makes more of a save than that than he needs
00:27:05to.
00:27:05But apart from the finish, they were very, very good in the game.
00:27:09You see here, now Guinness Walker got done a few times with that switch.
00:27:13He then allows the St Mirren player back inside.
00:27:16You see again here, no real intensity to get to the ball, no intensity to keep him wide.
00:27:20It's a good overlap from Phillips and he just pulls it back to the perfect area.
00:27:23Penalty spot.
00:27:24My dad always talks about that.
00:27:26Penalty spot and to be fair on that one...
00:27:29Was your dad a player, was he?
00:27:30Hmm?
00:27:30Was your dad a player?
00:27:31Yeah, but he just liked the penalty spot.
00:27:34And in fairness to the goalkeeper, I think he should do better there.
00:27:39But he hadn't made three or four good saves before that.
00:27:43Aberdeen improved in the second half.
00:27:44Steven Robinson noted that in his post-match comments.
00:27:47And they went on to win the game 3-1.
00:27:51Although, again, these are goals that St Mirren have shot themselves in the foot with.
00:27:55Yeah, and you know, you hate to pick out and see who again...
00:27:58You know, he's still a young kid, but he comes out there...
00:28:02And I know he doesn't mean to foul Jogan, but you look at him there, his arms are up,
00:28:06he's turning his back, his legs up.
00:28:07He's afraid of contact.
00:28:09He's afraid of getting hit with the ball.
00:28:10If he just runs out in a straight line there, the ball gets kicked off his chest and he blocks
00:28:15the ball.
00:28:17OK, penalty from Nisbet.
00:28:19And a decent enough save from Chapman, but then Nisbet falls in and scores.
00:28:23This is the one that would annoy you as a manager.
00:28:27You see there, they get a free kick.
00:28:28Phillips is there, I think.
00:28:30He ends up turning his back on the ball.
00:28:31Brilliant from Aremu.
00:28:33Even better from Malua.
00:28:34Gogic, keep him wide.
00:28:36No, let him inside.
00:28:37And it's so simple.
00:28:38Or just sleeping.
00:28:39Yeah, I mean, it's a fantastic play from Aberdeen initially, but there's no...
00:28:42Someone's got to stand over that ball.
00:28:44You've then got to pick up the striker who's just on the pitch.
00:28:46You've then got to keep him wide.
00:28:48So, you know, Craig McLeish is right.
00:28:50They do shoot themselves in the foot with the goals that they concede.
00:28:53And again, even the Brad Lyons one, they're still avoidable if you defend properly.
00:28:59Yeah, I think that's been a big part of the problem.
00:29:01I mean, it's five straight defeats now for St Myrden.
00:29:02And despite dominating large spells of the game today and creating those opportunities,
00:29:06the only stat that matters at the end of the day is the three points and the win at the
00:29:10end of a game.
00:29:12What do you think has been the main issue?
00:29:14They probably aren't scoring as many of the chances that they should,
00:29:17but defensively that's 11 goals in three games they've conceded.
00:29:20Yeah, it's both boxes.
00:29:21I know it's a cliche, but they're very good between the boxes.
00:29:24They play a lot of nice football.
00:29:25They're one and two touch.
00:29:26They go forward.
00:29:27But they're not clinical enough in the top end of the pitch.
00:29:30And they leak goals.
00:29:31They're so weak defensively.
00:29:33You see there, no one switches on for a free kick.
00:29:36Aberdeen take it quickly.
00:29:36And it's one pass to a player who's just on the pitch,
00:29:39who's sharper than all the guys who've been playing already for St Myrden.
00:29:42And it's just, if you continue to leak goals like that,
00:29:45you're only going to continue to drop down the table.
00:29:47From an Aberdeen point of view,
00:29:48Steven Robinson needed that win today just to take a bit of the heat off.
00:29:52The fans haven't really been enjoying the product on the pitch,
00:29:55but they need to build on today.
00:29:57It's a starting block.
00:29:58It's a platform.
00:29:59It's important that they move forward and continue to get points on the board.
00:30:04Yeah, and I think we've seen this a few times this season
00:30:07where the win games, maybe not, you know,
00:30:09I think the first game of the season,
00:30:10the win against Hearts wasn't a pretty game.
00:30:12And you think that's going to start to build something.
00:30:14But yeah, you know, huge getting the three points.
00:30:16That's first and foremost, that's what you need to do.
00:30:18You need to win your home games.
00:30:19But the fans do want to see a bit of a better product on the pitch,
00:30:23which having watched the game today for large spells,
00:30:25I do agree with them.
00:30:26But first and foremost win the game,
00:30:27in which they managed to do that today.
00:30:29OK.
00:30:30To late kick-off at Dens Park,
00:30:32where Inform Dundee took on Inform Rangers.
00:30:38Dundee are enjoying their best league start in 40 years
00:30:41and could crown an impressive opening
00:30:43if they could find a way to beat Rangers
00:30:45for the first time at Dens since 2017.
00:30:48After a stormy beginning to the league campaign,
00:30:51it's been much smoother sailing for Rangers
00:30:53as they look to win seven straight.
00:30:57Dundee came from behind to win late out Falkirk last time out.
00:31:01Steven Presley names the same 11
00:31:03that both started and ended that game.
00:31:06Rangers were comfortable last weekend against Kilmarnock.
00:31:09Derek McInnes makes a solitary change.
00:31:11Kevin Kelsey drops to the bench.
00:31:13Badruddin Buonani, who's been a sub in the last three,
00:31:16gets the start tonight.
00:31:24Kept them well by Hay.
00:31:26Here's Samuels.
00:31:27Nathan Hamilton.
00:31:33Opens up for Dre Wright.
00:31:36Right, that's a long ball, it might work here.
00:31:38Pander comes out.
00:31:40Ashley Hay.
00:31:42Well, they had a scoring return
00:31:44against Falkirk.
00:31:46He'd been out for six games.
00:31:48But Dre Wright timed that ball perfectly.
00:31:51And Ashley Hay almost brought it down.
00:31:55Sterling.
00:32:05Sterling, slightly more direct,
00:32:08gets the ball in, Gussama hits it down,
00:32:09chance for Kim.
00:32:11Well, it struck an arm,
00:32:12but it was at point blank range.
00:32:16VAR confirmed, that is not a penalty.
00:32:26Through the first 15 minutes, goalless.
00:32:29Could be a little chance here for Dundee,
00:32:30though, Forrest plays it through.
00:32:32Joe Bever with a chance!
00:32:35He was under pressure,
00:32:36but he screws the shot wide.
00:32:41That's a great blocking effort
00:32:43by Gussama.
00:32:45Just dragging the shot wide.
00:33:00And a little struck of the shoulders
00:33:02to say,
00:33:03why me, ref?
00:33:06That's why.
00:33:14Well, he got his head on it,
00:33:16but it was looping down.
00:33:18And Iver Bandoor deciding
00:33:20it was safer to push it over the top
00:33:22than try and take it with two hands.
00:33:29And to place it over the crossbar
00:33:31is absolutely rattled
00:33:32by Hay.
00:33:34Rangers struggling to get it clear.
00:33:36Nadiri in the end.
00:33:38Absolute pullout of a header.
00:33:46Celtic play hearts tomorrow.
00:33:52Nicely brought down by Hay.
00:33:53This might fall away, I think.
00:33:55Bradley Fink, round the goalkeeper!
00:33:58Swiss precision
00:33:59is perfection!
00:34:09Onside from that angle.
00:34:13He went through,
00:34:15managed to poke the ball on.
00:34:17And the cameras man in Denz Park
00:34:19is wearing dark blue
00:34:21with a number 21.
00:34:30Fink, round to Devon.
00:34:34Well, he was backing in.
00:34:36And McEnyer was backing away
00:34:37at the same time.
00:34:45Well, the next test for Dundee
00:34:47ought to be getting to halftime
00:34:49with that lead intact.
00:34:50It's a lovely little ball across.
00:34:52Rangers with a chance,
00:34:53Minsu Kim.
00:34:53What a block!
00:34:55Bevan.
00:34:56Sterling.
00:34:57Buonani, the danger.
00:34:58Not clear.
00:35:00Samuels that time.
00:35:01Buonani again!
00:35:03Brilliant.
00:35:08If at first you don't succeed.
00:35:12Well, he took the second one
00:35:13and popped it in the top corner.
00:35:17It's a first Rangers goal
00:35:19for Batra.
00:35:21It didn't burn any.
00:35:22And it's his first goal
00:35:24since November of 2025
00:35:26for Stuttgart
00:35:27in the Europa League.
00:35:29And that was simply unstoppable.
00:35:38Fernandes takes control.
00:35:39Kem on in the inside.
00:35:41Buonani for a second.
00:35:43Two straight.
00:35:45Yeah, really needed to try
00:35:46and curl it.
00:35:47Wreck in the other way.
00:35:53I suspect Hamilton
00:35:55fits an in-swinger.
00:35:57Jones the other way.
00:36:01Both of a turn of refusing.
00:36:03Played it deep.
00:36:04Fink.
00:36:05It had to go across
00:36:06the goalkeeper.
00:36:07He was onside.
00:36:09Great little run.
00:36:10He felt it had to come across.
00:36:17The lead at Ibrox last season.
00:36:20One-nil.
00:36:21And that changed
00:36:21one apiece.
00:36:22With it here by one goal to nil.
00:36:25And Rangers level quickly.
00:36:27There's Minsu Kim.
00:36:29Dan Niel.
00:36:30Niko Raskan.
00:36:32Raskan!
00:36:35That's how you do it.
00:36:38Minsu Kim
00:36:39just got the better
00:36:40of Joe Bevan.
00:36:42Little step over.
00:36:44Looked up.
00:36:45Dan Niel.
00:36:46Kamblyan.
00:36:46And Raskan.
00:36:47One thought on his mind.
00:36:50It's a beautiful curling effort
00:36:52from Niko Raskan.
00:36:54It's done D1.
00:36:55Rangers 2.
00:37:03Well, five of the last six
00:37:05scorer's premiership wins
00:37:06for Rangers have been by
00:37:07a single goal.
00:37:09The 3-1 against Kilmarnock.
00:37:10The outlier to that
00:37:11as Raskan comes through again.
00:37:14Rangers lead by one.
00:37:16They're almost led by two.
00:37:18Great save.
00:37:19Lauren Goodman.
00:37:26Rangers playing out
00:37:26from the back.
00:37:27That's inside.
00:37:28On to Dan Niel.
00:37:30That's a mistake
00:37:31and there's a chance.
00:37:33Arms to absolutely nothing.
00:37:36Rangers get the chance
00:37:37to Callum Jones
00:37:38who scores for the first time
00:37:40this season
00:37:41and has Dundee level.
00:37:46Rangers 2 casual
00:37:48and Dundee made them
00:37:50formally pay.
00:37:57Guernani
00:37:58right to Sterling.
00:38:03Guernani.
00:38:05Sterling once more.
00:38:08Oh, it's a bad back pass.
00:38:10Dan Niel almost in.
00:38:11Off the line by Owen Bevan.
00:38:14Right time, right place
00:38:15to pop it away.
00:38:23Callum Jones has to come across.
00:38:25Finlay Curtis
00:38:26has passed the goalkeeper
00:38:27and Callum Jones
00:38:29is the hero momentarily.
00:38:31Rangers trying to find
00:38:31a way through.
00:38:33Dan Niel picks up.
00:38:35Curtis with a great chance.
00:38:37What cover it was
00:38:38from Jones.
00:38:41Can't Rangers find
00:38:42a way through.
00:38:43It's deflected.
00:38:44It's white.
00:38:45Gossama
00:38:47almost the hero.
00:38:54It's all over
00:38:55in Dundee
00:38:56and for Rangers
00:38:57all good things
00:38:58must come to an end.
00:39:00The run of six straight wins
00:39:01ended by Dundee.
00:39:03It's finished.
00:39:04Dundee 2.
00:39:05Rangers 2.
00:39:07We cannae come away
00:39:08from home
00:39:09and have to score
00:39:10three goals
00:39:10to win a game.
00:39:12We had chances
00:39:13to score
00:39:13those types of goals
00:39:15and as many goals
00:39:16but a mixture of us
00:39:18not taking those
00:39:19and a mistake
00:39:20to let them back in
00:39:22because I thought
00:39:22we had Dundee
00:39:22where we wanted them.
00:39:24We only looked as if
00:39:25we were in charge
00:39:26of the game
00:39:26and while you wouldn't
00:39:27write anybody
00:39:28off at 2-1
00:39:29there's still work to do
00:39:31it was a big moment
00:39:32in the game
00:39:32when we lose the equaliser.
00:39:34The word I used
00:39:34prior to the game
00:39:35was bravery
00:39:36and I think
00:39:36that we showed
00:39:37that in possession.
00:39:39The players to a man
00:39:40are showing that.
00:39:42So, you know
00:39:44there's really
00:39:44pleasing aspects
00:39:45for some reason
00:39:47I just wanted
00:39:49a win tonight
00:39:49even though
00:39:50a lot of people
00:39:51say it's a terrific point
00:39:53it is a terrific point
00:39:54but that bit in me
00:39:55just after the first half
00:39:57I thought we could
00:39:59get all three points
00:40:00but I think
00:40:01over the course
00:40:01of the game
00:40:03I think that
00:40:04probably the draw
00:40:05was a fair result.
00:40:08Rangers dropped points
00:40:09in the league
00:40:10for the first time
00:40:10since the 9th of August
00:40:12it was a really strong
00:40:14first half performance
00:40:15from Dundee
00:40:16Richard
00:40:16creating lots of opportunities
00:40:18looked a real threat
00:40:19in behind.
00:40:20Yeah, Rangers had
00:40:21a relatively high line
00:40:22Dundee went
00:40:23long early
00:40:24she hears a poor
00:40:26clearance
00:40:26I think it's from Fernandes
00:40:27Dundee are on the second ball
00:40:28and that was the theme
00:40:29of the first half
00:40:30whenever Dundee
00:40:31went long with the ball
00:40:32the striker inevitably
00:40:34got the first contact
00:40:35and they picked up
00:40:36the second balls
00:40:37that is a wicked delivery
00:40:39here's another goalkeeper
00:40:40passing the ball
00:40:41straight into midfield
00:40:43lucky to get away with it
00:40:44and then he throws his hands
00:40:45up in the air
00:40:46as if it's somebody else's fault
00:40:47you didn't like that did you?
00:40:47No
00:40:47but you see here
00:40:49this is the goal
00:40:50a bit of fortune
00:40:52a bit of cool finish
00:40:53although it does
00:40:54skiff the inside
00:40:55closer than he felt
00:40:56wasn't it?
00:40:56but yeah
00:40:57if you look here
00:40:58you look at Fernandes
00:40:58I don't know why
00:40:59he's in there
00:41:00he needs to be
00:41:01in the back four
00:41:02the ball goes over his head
00:41:04Sterling comes round
00:41:05on the cover
00:41:06could he be more definitive
00:41:07with his clearance
00:41:07possibly?
00:41:08It is a bit fortuitous
00:41:10the way he misses the touch
00:41:11and then it lands
00:41:13at Fink
00:41:13but cool finish
00:41:14what you see
00:41:15is in off the
00:41:16inside of the post
00:41:17there
00:41:18he would have had
00:41:18his heart in his mouth
00:41:19for a half a second
00:41:20but Elvis was right
00:41:21in terms of
00:41:22the quality that
00:41:23Dundee put into the game
00:41:24they were excellent
00:41:25but out of nowhere
00:41:26really
00:41:26Buonani
00:41:28curled this shot
00:41:28into the top corner
00:41:30Rangers weren't in that
00:41:31first half
00:41:31but it's a moment
00:41:32of brilliance from him
00:41:33yeah
00:41:33when you've got
00:41:35quality players
00:41:35in your squad
00:41:36you have to be careful
00:41:38because you give them
00:41:39opportunities
00:41:39the highlight here
00:41:40these are the two
00:41:41Dundee midfielders
00:41:42so look how deep
00:41:44they are in the game
00:41:44so when the ball
00:41:45comes to the edge
00:41:46of the box
00:41:46where your midfielder
00:41:47should be
00:41:47there's no pressure
00:41:49on the ball
00:41:49now taking nothing
00:41:50away from the finish
00:41:51it's an absolutely
00:41:52outrageous goal
00:41:52but you know
00:41:53we're seeing a theme
00:41:54here that teams
00:41:55are panicking
00:41:56when other teams
00:41:56are attacking
00:41:57the midfielders
00:41:58are dropping
00:41:58right in there
00:41:59I mean you know
00:42:00Hamilton's nearly
00:42:01on the six yard line
00:42:03but that I mean
00:42:03that's a wonderful
00:42:04he's had some good
00:42:04goals tonight
00:42:05we certainly have
00:42:06and we'll see
00:42:06a better one
00:42:07that's right
00:42:07I had the best ones
00:42:08yet to come
00:42:09but yeah I mean
00:42:10Rangers will have
00:42:11been delighted
00:42:12Derek McInnes
00:42:12would have been
00:42:13delighted
00:42:13getting in at
00:42:14half time
00:42:14with a score like
00:42:15that because
00:42:16ultimately they'd been
00:42:17outplayed and
00:42:18outthought in that
00:42:18first half
00:42:19yeah and I think
00:42:20in fairness
00:42:20Buanani was the
00:42:21only one that
00:42:22looked semi-dangerous
00:42:24I think Dundee
00:42:26were claiming
00:42:26a foul there
00:42:26there was absolutely
00:42:27nothing
00:42:27no chance
00:42:28but yeah he was
00:42:29the only one that
00:42:30looked lively
00:42:30in the first half
00:42:31for Rangers
00:42:31and you know
00:42:32they did go in
00:42:33at one each
00:42:34after a fantastic goal
00:42:35clearly Derek Edwards
00:42:36at half time
00:42:37with the players
00:42:38he didn't make any
00:42:38changes personnel wise
00:42:40but Rangers were
00:42:41a lot more aggressive
00:42:42they played higher
00:42:43up the pitch
00:42:43Minsu Kim
00:42:44certainly had a very
00:42:46effective
00:42:47first 20 minutes
00:42:48of that second half
00:42:49absolutely
00:42:50I think they just
00:42:50started to look for him
00:42:51and you know
00:42:51he picks up brilliant
00:42:52positions in the pocket
00:42:53there behind the
00:42:55Dundee midfield
00:42:56in the first half
00:42:57he was doing the same
00:42:58but they weren't
00:42:58looking to play him
00:42:59you know
00:43:00they were going long
00:43:01with the ball
00:43:01they were going wide
00:43:02with the ball
00:43:02but you know
00:43:03he always drifts
00:43:05in that opposite
00:43:06eight pocket
00:43:07and he's very clever
00:43:08and he shifts the ball
00:43:09and that's
00:43:10it was close
00:43:11a very good effort
00:43:12here
00:43:13fantastic touch
00:43:14and Buunani
00:43:15should probably do better
00:43:16with the quality
00:43:17he's got on his left side
00:43:17he gets stuck
00:43:18under his feet a little bit
00:43:19but Minsu Kim
00:43:20was lively
00:43:21but they just looked
00:43:22for him more
00:43:23and that suited Rangers
00:43:24to try and play
00:43:25and you see here
00:43:27Raskan
00:43:27again
00:43:28I'm going to have a go
00:43:29at the midfielder
00:43:29for being too deep
00:43:30but another outrageous go
00:43:32I think that's the best
00:43:32that's the best
00:43:33we've seen so far tonight
00:43:34the dip on it
00:43:35yeah
00:43:35it points us
00:43:37it's about six
00:43:37eight feet over the bar
00:43:38but you see Kim
00:43:39he's tenacious
00:43:40he keeps the ball alive
00:43:42again if you look here
00:43:43midfielder number 48
00:43:44he's too deep
00:43:45there's no need for him
00:43:46to be that deep
00:43:47there's no one
00:43:47he's not picking anyone up
00:43:49you're not expecting that
00:43:50are you
00:43:50but you're not expecting that
00:43:52that is absolutely outrageous
00:43:53the goalie could probably
00:43:54do better
00:43:54I mean
00:43:57the technique's
00:43:58frightening
00:43:58the way that he gets
00:43:59that kind of
00:44:00power
00:44:00but also
00:44:02the dip on the ball
00:44:03a phenomenal
00:44:04finish
00:44:05and Rangers were in control
00:44:07at this point
00:44:07and it was the kind of
00:44:09complete opposite
00:44:10from the first half
00:44:10then Dundee go and
00:44:12get a goal
00:44:13out of nowhere
00:44:13albeit with a little bit
00:44:15of help from Rangers
00:44:16a lot of help
00:44:17it's such a poor
00:44:18you know
00:44:18Fernandes takes the ball
00:44:19here
00:44:20he's now out of position
00:44:21he runs into midfield
00:44:22so you've now got
00:44:23Raskan at centre back
00:44:25Dan Neal
00:44:25with his quality
00:44:26he needs to check his shoulder
00:44:28he needs to know
00:44:28where the Dundee player is
00:44:31brilliant pressure
00:44:32from Jones
00:44:32and you know what
00:44:33a really calm
00:44:34composed finish
00:44:35but
00:44:36you know
00:44:36that's
00:44:37it's just so slack
00:44:38it's so slow
00:44:39it's another
00:44:40slow roll
00:44:41pass into midfield
00:44:42it's a slow touch
00:44:43you're not going to get
00:44:44that time
00:44:45Rangers should have known
00:44:46from the first half
00:44:47there's no way
00:44:48Dundee are going to
00:44:49sit off him
00:44:49and allow them
00:44:50if you're unsure
00:44:50and you're Dan Neal
00:44:52just pop it back
00:44:52to Pandell surely
00:44:53absolutely
00:44:53just play the way
00:44:54you're facing
00:44:55you don't know
00:44:56what's behind you
00:44:57but he opens up his body
00:44:57and it's fantastic
00:44:58play from Dundee
00:44:59Rangers have been
00:45:01a phenomenal run
00:45:02the momentum
00:45:03they've grown
00:45:04they're going to drop
00:45:05points over the course
00:45:06of the season
00:45:06but I think the point is
00:45:07they're not going to be
00:45:08the only team that's going
00:45:09to drop points
00:45:09at Denz Park
00:45:10no absolutely not
00:45:11I think Dundee are having
00:45:12a fantastic season
00:45:13you know we were talking
00:45:14on air earlier
00:45:15about could Dundee
00:45:17go and challenge
00:45:18for that fourth spot
00:45:19if we're assuming
00:45:20that Rangers Celtic
00:45:21and Hearts
00:45:21would be the top three
00:45:22and the way they're playing
00:45:24and the way the players
00:45:25seem to galvanise
00:45:26for each other
00:45:27and the manager
00:45:28you know
00:45:29there's a really
00:45:30really strong argument
00:45:31for that
00:45:31okay
00:45:32a first game
00:45:33at Easter Road
00:45:34now for new
00:45:35Hibs manager
00:45:36Maring Reedyke
00:45:37as he faced
00:45:38John McGlynn's
00:45:39Falkirk
00:45:41Hibs haven't won
00:45:42a league match
00:45:43in front of their
00:45:44own fans
00:45:44since Saturday
00:45:45April the 4th
00:45:46against Kilmarnock
00:45:47that's something
00:45:47the new boss
00:45:48is keen to rectify
00:45:50the side he's chosen
00:45:51shows three changes
00:45:52to last weekend's
00:45:53defeat at Tanadice
00:45:54with Adam Mayer
00:45:55coming in at left back
00:45:56Azeem Abdulai
00:45:58starting in midfield
00:45:59while Martin Boyles
00:46:00back on the wing
00:46:01Felix Passlack
00:46:02remains captain
00:46:05Falkirk boss
00:46:05John McGlynn
00:46:06is happy with the way
00:46:07his side's playing
00:46:08and hopes to avoid
00:46:08conceding late goals
00:46:10he's made just the one
00:46:11change
00:46:11swapping in the taller
00:46:12Scott Tanzer at left back
00:46:14in place of Leon
00:46:15M'Cann
00:46:19a warm welcome to Easter road
00:46:21from John McGlynn
00:46:22to Marek Breedike
00:46:25Hibs will feel it's
00:46:26important to start
00:46:27well
00:46:27pass
00:46:29slack into cop captain
00:46:30Martin Boyle
00:46:33Chaiwa
00:46:34into Abdullai
00:46:35and call for Ryan
00:46:36strain though
00:46:37strain for Falkirk
00:46:39into Jacob
00:46:40Morrell
00:46:41what a start
00:46:43for Falkirk
00:46:43what a finish
00:46:45from Morrell
00:46:46well that's the
00:46:47Erling Haaland
00:46:48meditation pose
00:46:49and I think the
00:46:51Manchester City striker
00:46:52would be very proud
00:46:53of a strike
00:46:54like this
00:46:56like a rocket
00:46:57beyond the goalkeeper
00:46:58Salinger
00:46:59fabulous hit
00:47:00from Morrell
00:47:01brilliant start
00:47:02from Falkirk
00:47:06Hibs are rocking
00:47:07here
00:47:09Spencer
00:47:09Owen Eames
00:47:10could be in here
00:47:11for a second
00:47:12for Falkirk
00:47:13and Raphael
00:47:14Salinger's made
00:47:14a really good save
00:47:16with his right leg
00:47:20well he'll know
00:47:21that Hibs are a bit
00:47:21all over the place
00:47:22in the opening stages
00:47:24Adam Mayer
00:47:25trying to settle
00:47:26things down for them
00:47:27just now
00:47:28the home fans
00:47:29are restless
00:47:30the one
00:47:31Elding though
00:47:31has done well
00:47:32here
00:47:34Felix
00:47:35pass lack
00:47:36into the path
00:47:37of Martin Boyle
00:47:38he should score
00:47:39it's a good save
00:47:40from Scott Bain
00:47:41but there's frustration
00:47:42from the Australian
00:47:43international
00:47:45because this
00:47:46by his
00:47:46and anyone's
00:47:47standards
00:47:47is a brilliant chance
00:47:49well done the goalkeeper
00:47:50though
00:47:51do they not like
00:47:52what they're seeing
00:47:52is it just sunny
00:47:53take your pick
00:47:56pass lack
00:47:59he's done well
00:47:59Felix
00:48:00pass lack
00:48:00Adam Mayer
00:48:01tries his luck
00:48:02from distance
00:48:03you know
00:48:04the Englishman
00:48:04has scored a couple
00:48:06this season
00:48:07for Hibs
00:48:07this isn't close
00:48:08though
00:48:11problems
00:48:12comes to solve
00:48:12for Riedike
00:48:13in the home dugout
00:48:17Adam Mayer
00:48:18has got himself
00:48:18into a little bit
00:48:19of trouble
00:48:20here
00:48:21Ethan Ross
00:48:22closing him down
00:48:22now this Falkirk
00:48:24press is
00:48:25really good
00:48:26table
00:48:27he's back heel
00:48:28he's back heel
00:48:29goes to
00:48:29Ethan Ross
00:48:30Morrell
00:48:30could be in here
00:48:31for two
00:48:32what a finish
00:48:33that is
00:48:34two brilliant strikes
00:48:35from the American
00:48:36Jacob Morrell
00:48:37two goals
00:48:38for Falkirk
00:48:40they double up
00:48:41they have insurance
00:48:42and the big Americans
00:48:43on a hat-trick
00:48:44Klee G
00:48:44has had a nightmare
00:48:45there
00:48:46the finish though
00:48:47again is fantastic
00:48:48from Jacob Morrell
00:48:50self-inflicted
00:48:51from Hibs
00:48:51but the quality
00:48:52of the strike
00:48:53is superb
00:48:53the Hibs fans
00:48:55furious
00:49:01what do Hibs have
00:49:03in response
00:49:04Adam Mayer
00:49:05looks for Klee G
00:49:06outside him
00:49:07table
00:49:08Klee G
00:49:11that's a nice looking
00:49:12pass
00:49:12Felix
00:49:13Paslak
00:49:14for Hibs
00:49:15Paslak's delivery
00:49:16it's in from Elding
00:49:18and straight away
00:49:18Hibs are back
00:49:19in the game
00:49:21now has that come
00:49:22off his chest
00:49:23or his shoulder
00:49:23the manager
00:49:25doesn't care
00:49:25at the moment
00:49:27nice build-up
00:49:28from Hibs
00:49:29perfect
00:49:30from Paslak
00:49:32and I think
00:49:32that's the top
00:49:33of the armour
00:49:34the shoulder
00:49:34from Elding
00:49:35he won't care
00:49:35it's a goal
00:49:36and Hibs are back
00:49:37in the match
00:49:38DAR will of course
00:49:40check it
00:49:41Nick Walsh
00:49:41is being told
00:49:42to hang on
00:49:43while they have
00:49:43a right good look
00:49:44goal given
00:49:46Hibs
00:49:46are back in it
00:49:52Ryan Strain
00:49:53Morrell's there
00:49:53is it three
00:49:55the offside flag
00:49:56has gone up
00:49:57Morrell was on
00:49:58a hat-trick
00:49:58the flag has gone
00:49:59up against
00:50:00Finlay Barbrook
00:50:01there's the header
00:50:01from Morrell
00:50:02Barbrook's right
00:50:02in front of the
00:50:03goalkeeper
00:50:03it won't count
00:50:10Azim Abdullahi
00:50:11well as Falkirk
00:50:14retreated there
00:50:15it was the potential
00:50:17for a first ever go
00:50:17for Azim Abdullahi
00:50:21when Elding now
00:50:22could be in for Hibs
00:50:23Scott Bain
00:50:24superbly off his line
00:50:27to deny him a double
00:50:31lovely ball through
00:50:32Elding maybe should have
00:50:34done better here but the
00:50:35goalkeeper's too quick
00:50:35the mayor has had to
00:50:42desperately look for a
00:50:44leveller
00:50:45now Thiebaud
00:50:46Cleggie's gone down there
00:50:47under the challenge of
00:50:48Lewis Nielsen
00:50:49a penalty has been awarded
00:50:50much to Nielsen's dismay and
00:50:53disbelief
00:50:53now is that on the line
00:50:55VAR will have a good look
00:50:57at this again
00:50:59now Nick Walsh awarded
00:51:01the penalty
00:51:04the decision is
00:51:08outside the area
00:51:09Hibs will have a free kick
00:51:11with no penalty
00:51:12and it was just outside
00:51:19can Falkirk
00:51:21put this game
00:51:22beyond all doubt
00:51:22it's Barbrook
00:51:24and Eames could be in
00:51:25at the back post
00:51:26really good save
00:51:27from Salinger
00:51:28and that's kept
00:51:29Hibs in the match
00:51:32Martin Boyle
00:51:33will try to get Hibs
00:51:34up the other end
00:51:35sharpish
00:51:37Jamie McGrath
00:51:38has come on as a sub
00:51:39so has
00:51:40Rabi
00:51:40Matondo
00:51:42what can the Welshman
00:51:43do here
00:51:43into McGrath
00:51:44wonderful save
00:51:46from Scott Bain
00:51:47is that the save
00:51:49that preserves
00:51:50all three points
00:51:51for his side
00:51:51it was heading
00:51:52to the bottom corner
00:51:53great stop
00:51:54seconds earlier
00:51:55it was Salinger
00:51:56with a terrific save
00:51:57at the other end
00:51:58to keep out Eames
00:51:59it's all happening
00:52:05still Hibs think
00:52:06they've got a goal
00:52:07in this game
00:52:10pass lacks delivery
00:52:12Falkirk struggling
00:52:13to get the ball away
00:52:14here
00:52:15falls to Jamie McGrath
00:52:16and he just can't
00:52:17quite find the target
00:52:22by his standards
00:52:23this is a decent chance
00:52:26time is running out
00:52:28for Hibernian
00:52:30Rabi Matondo
00:52:31may have to get this
00:52:32into the area
00:52:33sharpish
00:52:34well he doesn't
00:52:35have time
00:52:37that noise
00:52:38is the Hibs fans
00:52:39booing
00:52:39their sixth
00:52:41home defeat
00:52:42from their last
00:52:42seven
00:52:43Falkirk have their
00:52:44first top flight
00:52:45win at Easter Road
00:52:46in 20 years
00:52:47it finishes Hibs
00:52:48one Falkirk
00:52:49two
00:52:51yeah delighted
00:52:52so proud of the players
00:52:52who put in a shift
00:52:53and we had to do that
00:52:55exactly that
00:52:55yeah
00:52:58delighted for Jacob
00:52:59two goals
00:53:00there
00:53:00two great strikes
00:53:00the Hibs were well
00:53:01organised
00:53:02and they had a lot
00:53:03of the ball
00:53:03to be fair
00:53:04so that means
00:53:05that we had
00:53:06worked so hard
00:53:07without the ball
00:53:08we needed
00:53:08Scott Bain
00:53:09to make a couple
00:53:09of saves
00:53:10which he did
00:53:11but I'm so proud
00:53:12of the effort
00:53:13and the commitment
00:53:15so yeah
00:53:17happy Saturday night
00:53:18they score
00:53:19out of our
00:53:20individual mistakes
00:53:21two goals
00:53:22I think we have
00:53:23make a good goal
00:53:25ourselves
00:53:26and then
00:53:26yeah
00:53:27there are moments
00:53:28where we can score
00:53:29and we don't do
00:53:30and then the game
00:53:31changes
00:53:31if you do so
00:53:33because then
00:53:34Easter Road is behind us
00:53:35and this doesn't happen
00:53:36and again
00:53:38what I've seen today
00:53:39is a step forward
00:53:40compared to Dundee
00:53:42this sounds strange
00:53:43but this is really
00:53:44what I think
00:53:45we took control
00:53:46over the whole match
00:53:47and had some
00:53:48good opportunities
00:53:49but then we have to
00:53:50have to score these
00:53:52so Folkert
00:53:53get a first away
00:53:54win of the season
00:53:55courtesy of two
00:53:56brilliant Jacob
00:53:57Murrell finishes
00:53:58Richard
00:53:59yeah
00:54:00and they were
00:54:01fantastic in the
00:54:01first half
00:54:02the way they press
00:54:04the energy
00:54:04you know
00:54:05John McGlynn
00:54:05tactically is very
00:54:07very good
00:54:09just
00:54:09they just look
00:54:11energetic
00:54:11you know
00:54:12Hibs here
00:54:12decent
00:54:13great position
00:54:14poor touch
00:54:14and that kind of
00:54:15sums Hibs up
00:54:16in the first half
00:54:18there
00:54:18I mean
00:54:19you actually don't
00:54:19see it
00:54:20but he has a
00:54:21little look
00:54:21you can probably
00:54:21see it from
00:54:22another angle
00:54:22the defending
00:54:23is awful
00:54:24you can see him
00:54:25here
00:54:26the defender's
00:54:26in a good
00:54:26position
00:54:27just make
00:54:27contact
00:54:27block his
00:54:28run
00:54:28don't do
00:54:29anything
00:54:30really
00:54:30looks like
00:54:31you're running
00:54:32free call there
00:54:32it's a brilliant
00:54:33finish
00:54:33made even better
00:54:34like I say
00:54:34by the fact
00:54:35that he looks
00:54:36to see where
00:54:36the goalkeeper
00:54:37is
00:54:37but Folkert
00:54:38done this
00:54:39the entire
00:54:39first half
00:54:40they lock
00:54:41Hibs down
00:54:41to the side
00:54:42they want
00:54:42they then have
00:54:43the numerical
00:54:43advantage
00:54:44or at least
00:54:44they're man
00:54:44for man
00:54:45and they put
00:54:46Hibs under
00:54:46pressure here
00:54:47but what
00:54:47Cleegee's doing
00:54:48I have no
00:54:49idea
00:54:51outrageous
00:54:51just kick it
00:54:52out for a
00:54:52throw in
00:54:52or a corner
00:54:54anything's better
00:54:54than this
00:54:54keep it alive
00:54:55and if you watch
00:54:56I think it's
00:54:56Jason Kerr in the
00:54:57middle of the
00:54:57pitch
00:54:57his reaction
00:54:58there he's
00:54:58going straight
00:54:59over for
00:55:16Cleegee
00:55:17so the
00:55:17suggestion is
00:55:18that he put
00:55:18the ball
00:55:19in with
00:55:19his hand
00:55:21or with
00:55:21his arm
00:55:21handball
00:55:22what's your
00:55:22thoughts on it
00:55:23I tend to
00:55:24agree with that
00:55:25I don't think
00:55:26the goal should
00:55:26have stood
00:55:26I think it
00:55:27hits him low
00:55:27enough down
00:55:28the arm
00:55:29I mean I
00:55:30think he should
00:55:30actually be ready
00:55:31for the ball
00:55:32to come in
00:55:32anyway
00:55:32he should expect
00:55:33Boyle to miss
00:55:34it and be ready
00:55:35to go and head
00:55:35the ball in
00:55:36he's not
00:55:36it hits him
00:55:37in the arm
00:55:39and then we'll
00:55:39see
00:55:40yeah well I
00:55:40mean the SFA
00:55:41guidance on this
00:55:42that was read
00:55:43out on the radio
00:55:43was that the
00:55:44ball hits above
00:55:46the t-shirt line
00:55:47and therefore
00:55:47it's not a
00:55:48punishable bit
00:55:49of the arm
00:55:50but when we're
00:55:53looking at this
00:55:53this image has
00:55:54also been used
00:55:55by the SFA
00:55:56previously to
00:55:56show the t-shirt
00:55:57line I mean
00:55:58that looks like
00:55:58a tank top to
00:55:59me but the
00:56:01ball if that's
00:56:02the t-shirt line
00:56:02in the green
00:56:04was underneath
00:56:04that wasn't it
00:56:05absolutely so
00:56:05you know I
00:56:07think I do
00:56:08believe that's
00:56:08called the
00:56:08oxter
00:56:09as well
00:56:10but yeah
00:56:13so by that
00:56:14graphic the goal
00:56:15should not have
00:56:16stood
00:56:16your opinion
00:56:17is it should
00:56:18not have
00:56:18stood
00:56:18no
00:56:18okay
00:56:20Hibs created
00:56:21chances in the
00:56:21second half
00:56:22but they couldn't
00:56:22get that goal
00:56:23back and there
00:56:25is a major
00:56:25problem right
00:56:26now at Easter
00:56:27Road
00:56:27yeah I mean
00:56:29they're not
00:56:30one in over
00:56:30six months
00:56:31at home
00:56:32but you see
00:56:33there it's
00:56:34decision making
00:56:34that final third
00:56:35it's a slash
00:56:36wide instead of
00:56:37going across the
00:56:37goal that's just
00:56:38brilliant goal
00:56:39keeping
00:56:39Owen Eldon
00:56:40thinks he's
00:56:40through Scott
00:56:41Baines off his
00:56:41line quickly
00:56:42and you know
00:56:43full credit to
00:56:44Falkirk because
00:56:45they've lost a
00:56:46lot of late
00:56:46goals into the
00:56:47you know
00:56:4889th minute
00:56:49and they had
00:56:50to you know
00:56:51there was a
00:56:52mixture of good
00:56:52defending
00:56:53poor finishing
00:56:54and excellent
00:56:55goal keeping
00:56:55that's a
00:56:56fantastic save
00:56:57sees it late
00:56:58he's going the
00:56:59opposite way
00:57:00and probably the
00:57:01save of the day
00:57:01but when you go
00:57:02to Easter Road
00:57:03you're going to
00:57:03need to weather
00:57:04a bit of a
00:57:05storm
00:57:05and Falkirk
00:57:06done that
00:57:06and you know
00:57:07Hibs huffed
00:57:09and puffed
00:57:09created a couple
00:57:10of chances
00:57:11as we've just
00:57:11seen
00:57:12but nothing
00:57:13really really
00:57:14clear cut
00:57:15and Falkirk
00:57:16were well
00:57:16well worthy
00:57:17of the three
00:57:17points for me
00:57:18With their
00:57:18recent record
00:57:19at Easter Road
00:57:20the last team
00:57:22you want to be
00:57:22seen is Celtic
00:57:23and that's
00:57:23who they play
00:57:24next at Easter Road
00:57:25Yeah it doesn't
00:57:26get much easier
00:57:27new manager in
00:57:28it is going to
00:57:29take a bit of
00:57:29time
00:57:30but it is
00:57:32worrying because
00:57:33usually you need
00:57:34players on side
00:57:35to buy into
00:57:36any new
00:57:37philosophy that
00:57:38you're trying to
00:57:38preach
00:57:39but at the
00:57:39moment the
00:57:40Hibs players
00:57:41just look bereft
00:57:42of any confidence
00:57:42But the squad's
00:57:43good enough
00:57:44that's the thing
00:57:44But is it?
00:57:45If it's not
00:57:45performing week
00:57:46on week
00:57:46It's good enough
00:57:47on paper
00:57:48But the game's
00:57:49unfortunately for
00:57:50Hibs not played
00:57:51on paper
00:57:51That's a good
00:57:52point
00:57:53We finish
00:57:54tonight with
00:57:54the Tayside
00:57:55Derby
00:57:55as St Johnston

00:58:04and Dundee
00:58:05United have
00:58:05won three of

00:58:06top flight matches
00:58:07here at
00:58:08McDermott Park
00:58:09There is a
00:58:10very different
00:58:11feel about
00:58:11Simo Valakari
00:58:12St Johnston
00:58:13now though
00:58:16Buffalo Saints
00:58:17picked up

00:58:18at Pataudri
00:58:19last Sunday
00:58:19Valakari
00:58:20changes three

00:58:22from suspension
00:58:23Steven and
00:58:24Cotterill
00:58:25also return
00:58:26United keep
00:58:27the same
00:58:28eleven that
00:58:28were victorious
00:58:29over Hibs
00:58:29last weekend

00:58:50the cross
00:58:51lifted
00:58:52toward
00:58:52Metsoco
00:58:53there's
00:58:54a bit
00:58:54of a deflection
00:58:55on that
00:58:55header
00:58:55Stewart gallers
00:58:57confidently
00:59:00patient play
00:59:01from Dundee
00:59:02United
00:59:03well on
00:59:04side
00:59:07Metsoco
00:59:08just didn't
00:59:08really get any
00:59:09purchase on
00:59:09the header
00:59:14Stewart's throw
00:59:15is intercepted
00:59:16the opportunity
00:59:17now for
00:59:17Randall
00:59:18across the
00:59:19face of
00:59:19goal
00:59:20Benny was
00:59:21close for
00:59:22United
00:59:22and that
00:59:22drive is
00:59:23turned behind

00:59:38to try and
00:59:38turn away
00:59:42Forbes
00:59:43stepping up
00:59:45it's a lovely

00:59:47Benny's on the
00:59:48end of it
00:59:48Misoco
00:59:49nearly had a

01:01:34Stanton
01:01:34threatening
01:01:35again
01:01:35in this
01:01:35match
01:01:42corner
01:01:43taken
01:01:43short
01:01:46Yoro

01:01:59Cameron
01:02:00ghosting in
01:02:01with the header
01:02:02pushed away
01:02:03by Stewart
01:02:04good goalkeeping
01:02:05as defenders
01:02:07offer thanks
01:02:08but looks like the
01:02:09referee has awarded
01:02:10a St.
01:02:11Johnston free kick
01:02:11for the push
01:02:12for the push by Cameron
01:02:12the goalkeeper
01:02:14didn't know that
01:02:14though
01:02:22St.
01:02:23Johnston on the move
01:02:23now
01:02:25Payton an option
01:02:25out wide
01:02:26here is Ruri
01:02:27Payton
01:02:29strikes
01:02:31pushed away
01:02:32by Walton
01:02:34Stanton steps
01:02:34onto it
01:02:36and that one
01:02:37high and wide
01:02:39now
01:02:39Simo
01:02:40Vallecari's side
01:02:41are still a threat
01:02:42whenever they move
01:02:42into that transition
01:02:43turning defence
01:02:44into attack
01:02:45and looking to catch
01:02:46United out on the
01:02:47counter
01:02:56Stanton heads down
01:02:57Steven
01:02:58got his toes
01:02:59to it
01:02:59picked up by
01:03:00United
01:03:01side
01:03:01Euro
01:03:02with a lovely
01:03:03pass forward
01:03:06Sapsford leaves it
01:03:07it's Lyle Cameron
01:03:10United level
01:03:13it's a sensational
01:03:15finish from Lyle Cameron
01:03:19it's a beautiful
01:03:20Dundee United move
01:03:21it's well worked
01:03:22but just look at
01:03:23this body control
01:03:24awareness from
01:03:25Sapsford
01:03:26Cameron's pushed
01:03:28he's off balance
01:03:29and still manages
01:03:31to bring out
01:03:31a brilliant finish
01:03:33first class
01:03:34from Lyle Cameron
01:03:37St. Johnston
01:03:38one
01:03:38Dundee United
01:03:39one
01:03:45Payton
01:03:46on the attack
01:03:47but there's an
01:03:48obstruction
01:03:49in the Dundee United
01:03:50goal line
01:03:51and now the referee
01:03:52brings play to a
01:03:53halt
01:03:54a smoke bomb
01:03:55a flare
01:03:56whatever you want
01:03:56to call it
01:03:58the referee
01:03:59receiving instruction
01:04:04I think he's
01:04:05awarding offside
01:04:11St. Johnston
01:04:12wanted to attack
01:04:14but it looked like
01:04:15play was always
01:04:16going to be stopped
01:04:17Payton looks
01:04:17onside there
01:04:19I'm not sure
01:04:20what the referee's
01:04:21decision is in the end
01:04:26that's tenacious
01:04:27play from
01:04:28Euro
01:04:28and this is
01:04:29Sapsford
01:04:30Stewart saves
01:04:31and now it's
01:04:32Cameron
01:04:32straight at
01:04:33the St. Johnston
01:04:34goalkeeper
01:04:36United
01:04:36had numbers
01:04:37forward
01:04:38what a chance
01:04:39for Lyle Cameron
01:04:40to get a match
01:04:42winner for
01:04:42Dundee United
01:04:44brilliant awareness
01:04:45from Euro
01:04:45a couple of
01:04:47opportunities
01:04:49the pressure
01:04:50came
01:04:51too much
01:04:52for us
01:04:52so then
01:04:53it's just a
01:04:53question
01:04:53can we hold
01:04:54until the end
01:04:55yeah
01:04:56it's difficult
01:04:56it can happen
01:04:57you know
01:04:57that
01:04:59difficult
01:04:59to defend
01:04:59whole 90 minutes
01:05:02but then
01:05:02at the same time
01:05:03what we can now
01:05:04improve
01:05:05is this moment
01:05:05when we are
01:05:061-0 up
01:05:06opponent putting
01:05:07us pressure
01:05:08when we break
01:05:09how we can
01:05:09a little bit
01:05:11be more rootless
01:05:12these
01:05:12our breakaways
01:05:13and score
01:05:14maybe the second
01:05:14goal
01:05:15which makes
01:05:15again
01:05:16total difference
01:05:17the goal
01:05:18that we concede
01:05:19for me
01:05:20is very
01:05:21very avoidable
01:05:22you know
01:05:22I thought
01:05:22we dropped
01:05:23the runner
01:05:23initially
01:05:24we don't match
01:05:25the fullback
01:05:25then my fullback
01:05:26jumps into a space
01:05:27where he doesn't
01:05:28need to go
01:05:28he can just sit in
01:05:29alongside the centre back
01:05:30and it's just a
01:05:31culmination of errors
01:05:32from us
01:05:33but you know
01:05:34as I said
01:05:35it's great
01:05:35resilience from the players
01:05:37to be able to come
01:05:38from a goal behind
01:05:38showed really good character
01:05:40and as I said
01:05:41the second half
01:05:41we had complete control
01:05:43you know
01:05:43any kind of
01:05:44dangerous attack
01:05:45that St Johnston
01:05:46did have in the second half
01:05:48it came from those
01:05:48transition moments
01:05:49where they were
01:05:50counter-attacking on us
01:05:51on another day
01:05:51I think we might have
01:05:52won the game
01:05:54I don't know
01:05:54McDaniel Park
01:05:55probably just about
01:05:56the fair result
01:05:57Josh Fowler
01:05:58he got St Johnston's first
01:05:59and his sixth goal
01:06:00in nine games
01:06:01incredibly impressive
01:06:03from the striker
01:06:04and he seems to be
01:06:06in the right place
01:06:07at the right time
01:06:07yeah he's having
01:06:08a fantastic season
01:06:09I mean his story
01:06:10is brilliant
01:06:11and we don't even
01:06:12really need to talk
01:06:12through this
01:06:13because Jim done
01:06:13all the work for us
01:06:14he's absolutely right
01:06:15you know
01:06:16don't track the fullback
01:06:17right back
01:06:17get sucked in
01:06:19centre-half
01:06:19at the front post
01:06:20here
01:06:20no idea what he's doing
01:06:21just
01:06:21all your job is there
01:06:23is to clear the ball
01:06:24it's an okay ball
01:06:25in from Alex
01:06:25it's not
01:06:26you know
01:06:26it's not perfect
01:06:27but you look at
01:06:28Fowler in the middle
01:06:29there
01:06:29he peels away
01:06:30he gets himself
01:06:31in space
01:06:31and that's a decent finish
01:06:32and that's a hard one
01:06:33to come across
01:06:34and get the control
01:06:35on it
01:06:35but that's just the season
01:06:36he's having
01:06:36and like I say
01:06:38he's a player
01:06:38that deserves
01:06:39every goal he scores
01:06:40because he works so hard
01:06:41he worked to get to where he is
01:06:43but also in game
01:06:44he works incredibly hard
01:06:46yeah off the ball
01:06:47yeah
01:06:47let's hope this season
01:06:49continues like this
01:06:50sorry
01:06:50United kept pushing
01:06:51Lyle Cameron
01:06:52who's been excellent
01:06:53was the goal scorer
01:06:55and his appetite here
01:06:56and his energy
01:06:57absolutely phenomenal
01:06:58yeah fantastic
01:07:00I mean this is just
01:07:00kind of old school
01:07:01midfield role
01:07:02you see him there
01:07:03he's in his own half
01:07:04he's deep
01:07:04he recognises they've got the break on
01:07:06Alic gets himself a bit
01:07:07turned round here
01:07:08and he just
01:07:09he bursts
01:07:09and to be fair to the St Johnson players
01:07:11they are trying to get back
01:07:12they don't quite make it
01:07:13he takes a brilliant first touch
01:07:17and even though he's fallen down
01:07:18he gets a good contact on the ball
01:07:19and it's a brilliant finish
01:07:20in the top corner
01:07:21I thought at the time
01:07:22you know it was a definite push
01:07:24and it might have been called for a penalty
01:07:25but I don't think it is
01:07:26I think he's just off balance
01:07:28but great composure there
01:07:29as he's fallen down
01:07:30to get a decent
01:07:31well that's the thing
01:07:31you know when you're off balance
01:07:32like that
01:07:33to be able to still get the accuracy
01:07:34with the shot
01:07:35it's highly impressive
01:07:36yeah the first touch
01:07:37is brilliant as well
01:07:37on the run
01:07:38and then you know
01:07:39the composure
01:07:40to not panic
01:07:41and snatch it to it
01:07:42and a great goal
01:07:43for the United
01:07:44and very much deserves
01:07:45they did a lot more of the ball
01:07:47and it's something that
01:07:48Jim Goodwin has changed this season
01:07:50he's signed players
01:07:51to carry that out
01:07:53and be more of a possession team
01:07:54and it's working for him
01:07:55yeah it is
01:07:56you know Dylan Tate in there
01:07:57along with Lyle Cameron
01:07:58two very good football players
01:08:00well Zidane Iqbal
01:08:01you'd be disappointed
01:08:02if he couldn't play football
01:08:04and the three of them
01:08:05in there have been
01:08:06the catalyst for the way
01:08:06Dundee United play
01:08:07loads of energy
01:08:08and I think the three of them
01:08:10can do a bit of everything
01:08:10it's not just
01:08:11they're neat and tidy on the ball
01:08:12they can run
01:08:13they can tackle
01:08:14you see Lyle Cameron's run
01:08:15for the goal there
01:08:16so they're complete midfielders
01:08:17and the three of them
01:08:18dovetail very well
01:08:19and for Johnston
01:08:20I mean
01:08:21they've only lost
01:08:22one of the last six games
01:08:22and that was to Celtic
01:08:23so their transition
01:08:25back into the Premiership
01:08:26has been a very solid one
01:08:28over the opening nine games
01:08:29absolutely
01:08:30but what I love the most
01:08:31is that they adjust
01:08:32you know
01:08:33Simo Valakari
01:08:34likes to play football
01:08:35he likes to get the ball down
01:08:36he likes to play passes
01:08:37but he's also able then
01:08:39to be pragmatic in games
01:08:40and go
01:08:41we can just sit in
01:08:43we can defend
01:08:43we can be hard to beat
01:08:45it's not all open and expansive
01:08:47he's tried that
01:08:47and they went down
01:08:48they've came back up
01:08:49they've reset
01:08:50and they're in a much better place
01:08:51than they were
01:08:51yeah I agree
01:08:52let's have a wee look
01:08:54at the table
01:08:57Rangers and Dundee
01:08:58remain second and fourth
01:08:59after tonight's draw
01:09:00Celtic play
01:09:00Hearts tomorrow
01:09:01St Johnston in fifth place
01:09:03on the same points
01:09:04as United
01:09:05in sixth
01:09:05Aberdeen just a point
01:09:06behind them
01:09:07in seventh
01:09:08St Myrland now eighth
01:09:09Falkirk ninth
01:09:10Motherwell and Killy
01:09:11who are finally off the bottom
01:09:13on eight points
01:09:14and it's now Hibs
01:09:14who prop the table up
01:09:17and as ever
01:09:18there is plenty
01:09:19for you to enjoy
01:09:20across the BBC
01:09:21over the coming week

01:10:02Celtic against
01:10:04Celtic Eagles
01:10:04same night
01:10:05just a bit later
01:10:05also on Radio Scotland
01:10:07and Sounds
01:10:09big game coming up
01:10:10tomorrow Richard
01:10:11let's talk about it
01:10:12Celtic against Hearts
01:10:14how do you see it going?
01:10:16hopefully it's an
01:10:17entertaining game
01:10:18hopefully we get a bit
01:10:19of what we've seen
01:10:20today
01:10:20I think Celtic
01:10:21will win the game
01:10:23especially off the
01:10:24back of the result
01:10:25tonight
01:10:25with Rangers
01:10:28all that hard work
01:10:29to beat Celtic
01:10:29a couple of weeks ago
01:10:30and they've now
01:10:31dropped points
01:10:31and Celtic
01:10:32ironically enough
01:10:33given all the
01:10:34tournament all
01:10:34behind the scenes
01:10:35there
01:10:35can actually go
01:10:36and extend the lead
01:10:37it is ironic that
01:10:38because the Celtic fans
01:10:39are unhappy
01:10:40and they've been
01:10:40getting a bit of stick
01:10:42but they have the
01:10:43opportunity to go
01:10:43four points clear
01:10:45tomorrow in the league
01:10:45which would suggest
01:10:46not a bad start
01:10:47to the season
01:10:47no
01:10:48this is Scottish
01:10:50football
01:10:50it's why we love it
01:10:51it's why we watch it
01:10:52it's never
01:10:54simple
01:10:54it's never just
01:10:55run of the mill
01:10:56last season was
01:10:57fantastic
01:10:58we're all hopeful
01:10:59for a similar season
01:11:00but there's ups and
01:11:01downs for all teams
01:11:03and yeah
01:11:03you're right
01:11:04Celtic have got a
01:11:04chance now to
01:11:05quieten down a lot
01:11:06of the noise
01:11:07by extending the lead
01:11:08to four points
01:11:08Hearts returning to
01:11:09Celtic Park
01:11:10we know what
01:11:10happened the last
01:11:11time they were
01:11:12there
01:11:12how do you compare
01:11:13this Hearts side
01:11:15with the one
01:11:15that went there
01:11:16obviously on the
01:11:17last day of last
01:11:18season
01:11:18it's difficult
01:11:19because Derek
01:11:20had got them
01:11:21into a really good
01:11:21spot obviously
01:11:23I think they
01:11:24looked tired
01:11:25they looked jaded
01:11:26by the time they
01:11:26went there
01:11:27it's very difficult
01:11:28to maintain
01:11:28the consistency
01:11:30that they did
01:11:31last season
01:11:31so really
01:11:32really tough
01:11:33for them
01:11:34now earlier
01:11:34in the season
01:11:35they're playing
01:11:36really well
01:11:36they've got a lot
01:11:37of energy
01:11:37a lot of pace
01:11:38at the top
01:11:38end of the pitch
01:11:40Josh McPake
01:11:40at the moment
01:11:41is probably one
01:11:41of the best
01:11:42players in the
01:11:42league
01:11:43Calvin Miller
01:11:44also
01:11:45so they've got
01:11:45a real quality
01:11:47at the top
01:11:47end of the pitch
01:11:49you know
01:11:49defensively I
01:11:50still think
01:11:50they give up
01:11:51chances
01:11:51which I think
01:11:52will favour
01:11:52Celtic
01:11:52but it'll be
01:11:54a different game
01:11:54I think Hearts
01:11:55will go there
01:11:55with very little
01:11:57fear and a lot
01:11:57of energy
01:11:58and they'll
01:11:58probably
01:11:59they will cause
01:12:00Celtic problems
01:12:00but I do still
01:12:01feel Celtic
01:12:02will come out
01:12:02on top
01:12:02I feel for him
01:12:06because I've been
01:12:06in a similar
01:12:06position where
01:12:07you've got so long
01:12:08as a striker
01:12:08and you've not
01:12:09been scoring
01:12:10and the criticism
01:12:11is piling up
01:12:11and the pressure
01:12:12is piling up
01:12:13do you just
01:12:13keep playing him
01:12:14in the hope
01:12:15that he gets
01:12:16that goal
01:12:16because it would
01:12:17give him an
01:12:17incredible lift
01:12:18or do you not
01:12:19or did you play him
01:12:20up with Duran
01:12:21in a two up top
01:12:23I'm a big fan
01:12:24of two up top
01:12:25I've spoken
01:12:25about it before
01:12:26I think
01:12:27you have to
01:12:28have a conversation
01:12:29because at times
01:12:30players might need
01:12:31to be taken out
01:12:32for their own good
01:12:33very few players
01:12:34are going to say
01:12:34look Gaffer
01:12:35don't play me
01:12:36I don't want to
01:12:36play anymore
01:12:37so it's a difficult
01:12:38one but I think
01:12:39he's got to try
01:12:40and play his way
01:12:41through it
01:12:42but there has to
01:12:43be a conversation
01:12:43because no player
01:12:44wants to come out
01:12:45of the team
01:12:46he's their
01:12:47you know
01:12:47he's
01:12:48what was it
01:12:48£9 million
01:12:49they paid for him
01:12:51but the problem
01:12:52that you've got
01:12:53is Duran
01:12:53loves playing
01:12:54through the middle
01:12:54and you've seen
01:12:55that he kind of
01:12:56went in a little
01:12:56bit of a huff
01:12:57when he wasn't
01:12:57playing there
01:12:58so it would be
01:12:59a really interesting
01:13:00decision
01:13:00but I would play him
01:13:01you would play him
01:13:02it's going to be
01:13:02interesting to see
01:13:03that's for sure
01:13:03and that is all
01:13:04for tonight
01:13:05thanks to Richard
01:13:05for his endurance
01:13:06over the last
01:13:0710 hours
01:13:07on a day that saw
01:13:08144 shots
01:13:10at goal
01:13:10in 5 games
01:13:12thank you for watching
01:13:13and enjoy
01:13:13the rest of your weekend
01:13:14cheers
01:13:42I know you wanna ride
01:13:45you
