00:19¶¶
00:38Good evening. Just the two games in the Scottish Premiership tonight,
00:42but plenty to talk about in the company of ubiquitous former Motherwell sub Andy Halliday.
00:47It was fourth against third at Ivericks tonight,
00:50where Rangers look to make it four league wins in a row,
00:53and leapfrog at St Mirnside, whose strong start to the season,
00:56has seen their rookie manager lifting awards already.
01:00And it's great vision to find Phillips.
01:03The shot is deflected, and in, and that will be all three points.
01:08Comes all the way to Fraser Taylor.
01:10It's happened again.
01:13Off he steps, the captain scores.
01:16It's a wonderful penalty from Lauren Shacklin.
01:20Glory under pressure, nice feet, and it finds Lauren Shacklin.
01:26Owen Paulson, that's poor.
01:28And Nadine stays on his feet and has the simplest of finishes.
01:38There's an old firm double-header on the horizon for Rangers,
01:42but there can be no taking the eye off the ball tonight
01:44if they're to take care of a St Mirren's side
01:47that gave Celtic a tough time of it at the weekend.
01:50They lost 5-1 at Ibrox earlier in the season, though,
01:54and will be keen to make amends for that League Cup exit.
02:05The question for Rangers was,
02:07who would replace the injured Lauren Shacklin, Ryan Reddiri,
02:11or Kevin Kelsey?
02:12The answer is both start.
02:14A first for Kelsey,
02:15and a debut too for Badreddin Buonani
02:18as Minsu and Curtis drop to the bench.
02:22Rangers' loanee Paul Anseo is ineligible for St Mirren tonight,
02:26so Craig McLeish brings Louis Jackson in for a debut.
02:29The defender on loan from Manchester United
02:31looks like being part of a back three,
02:33but personnel-wise,
02:35Saints are otherwise unchanged from that defeat by Celtic.
02:3815-year-old Marcelo de Barros
02:40could make a first-league appearance from the bench.
02:45Manager of the month for August,
02:47Craig McLeish meets his Rangers counterpart.
02:58A little leal for Raskan,
03:00slips it for Nadiri,
03:01good save from Chapman.
03:05Best chance so far.
03:15Lovely little interchange this,
03:18and Nadiri with a snapshot,
03:20well blocked by the goalkeeper.
03:28Neil takes over,
03:30under pressure though.
03:34It's Mokri,
03:35he's got a cracking goal,
03:36last time St Mirren were here.
03:40Kabya
03:42felt the brunt of the challenge that came in there,
03:44nothing doing though.
03:50Kabya had a claim here for a penalty,
03:54if he wasn't interested,
03:56nor was VAR.
03:59Buonani to deliver to the near post again,
04:02and it's met by Agna Fiotis,
04:04Taylor and then Carr help it out.
04:07Sterling back out to Buonani though.
04:11Curls it in,
04:12it's a good ball,
04:12and a save from Chapman to Danai Raskan.
04:16We had a few of those against Celtic
04:19at the weekend,
04:22and once more,
04:23Jacob Chapman comes up
04:24with a top save
04:26to keep the scoreline blank.
04:35Fernandes,
04:36Nadiri couldn't control it,
04:37but Raskan
04:38sends out Roy to
04:40Gisama.
04:43Tries to play it in for Penrice,
04:44Penrice now across,
04:46goal!
04:46What a tackle that is
04:48from Henry Fieldson,
04:49my goodness.
04:51Talk about a goal-saving intervention.
04:55It looked like a tap-in
04:57all the way here
04:58for Ryan Nadiri.
05:00Brilliant ball,
05:02first from Gisama,
05:03then from Penrice.
05:04It's on a plate for Nadiri,
05:05but somehow Fieldson gets
05:07first contact.
05:16the outswinger this time
05:17from Buonani.
05:20Nadiri trying to get there,
05:22it's almost an own goal.
05:24Calvin Ramsey
05:28almost finding the top corner
05:30of his own net.
05:33Not quite the top corner,
05:34but nonetheless,
05:36Chapman had to make the save.
05:39Buonani to deliver again.
05:41Back post-ball this time,
05:43headed down and off the line,
05:45Raskan on the volley
05:46over the top.
05:57As Kelsey gets his head
05:59to that.
06:08Penrice,
06:09waits for the runner,
06:10Kelsey nods it down
06:11for Gisama.
06:12Can he get the shot off here?
06:13He can,
06:14saved by Chapman.
06:15On the rebound,
06:16Buonani also denied.
06:21and that's got out
06:22for the goal kick.
06:25Chapman with the double save.
06:31Well, he's keeping
06:32Subirin in it right now.
06:33That's a decent stop.
06:36And the reaction's good as well.
06:47That's a good ball though from Sterling.
06:50Raskan looks up
06:50and into the middle
06:52as Gisama hits the deck.
06:54Looks at the referee,
06:56comes to Penrice anyway.
06:59Back in,
06:59taken down by Kelsey.
07:02and it's going to be
07:03a Subirin free kick
07:05in the end.
07:07Well,
07:07Don Robertson telling
07:08Gisama it's being checked.
07:12As,
07:13well,
07:14a slight touching on
07:17from Ramsey.
07:18I think it was outside
07:18the box anyway,
07:19so I don't think
07:20they could do anything.
07:22And as it came back in
07:23for Kelsey,
07:24Ramsey made the recovery.
07:29And the decision is
07:31play on from the
07:33free kick awardee
07:35to Subirin.
07:44Kanya losing out
07:45to Agra Fiotis
07:46but not Raskan.
07:48Good challenge though
07:49from Mockery.
07:51And now it's Khabia.
07:54Here comes Declan John
07:55in support.
07:57Khabia trying to come
07:58infield
07:59and he's won a free kick.
08:04Despite
08:04Nikola Raskan's
08:06protests,
08:08Rangers
08:09are going to come under
08:11a bit of pressure
08:13here
08:13from the set piece.
08:15Those are kind of
08:16too many complaints
08:17I don't think.
08:25there's Ramsey who
08:26goes for it.
08:27It's not too far away.
08:29Glancing the roof
08:30of the net.
08:45Fraser Taylor
08:46could be in here.
08:47Huge chance
08:47for Subirin.
08:49Fraser Taylor
08:49against Pandur.
08:51Saved by the keeper.
08:54Straight at him
08:55in all honesty.
09:00That is a massive chance
09:01and he knows it.
09:08Subirin just cut through
09:09that Rangers back line.
09:11And then Fraser Taylor
09:12maybe just too much time
09:13to think about it.
09:14He couldn't find
09:15either corner
09:17and Pandur
09:18able to make the save.
09:23Nice play for John.
09:29Carr picks out
09:30Agrafiotis
09:30goes for goal.
09:31Straight at Pandur.
09:39It's a sight of goal
09:40certainly for
09:41Subirin.
09:50Carr does brilliantly.
09:53Will Taylor
09:53out for Sule.
09:59So it's a Sule.
10:00Blocked by Sterling.
10:02John gets the better
10:03of Curtis.
10:04Declan John!
10:05So close
10:08against his former side.
10:21What a moment this
10:22would have been
10:22for Declan John
10:24to probe for him.
10:26Did well initially
10:27and it just flashes
10:28at a cross goal.
10:30I think it's more
10:31of a cross
10:31than a shot.
10:38Can we just carve it
10:39out here?
10:41It's Minsoo
10:41with the free kick.
10:43Good looking ball.
10:45Clans down by
10:45McCann.
10:46Come for Devlin.
10:48Swings it back in.
10:50Subirin.
10:51Defending for the
10:51Leafs here.
10:56Richardson gets a
10:57toe to it
10:58and Gogets will
10:59bring it forward
11:00and Richardson
11:01takes it on.
11:03Across comes Sterling
11:04taken out of play
11:05by Richardson.
11:23Deply frustrating night
11:24for that man
11:26and the supporters
11:28around about him.
11:34Dürer makes it long.
11:37Adiri gets the flick.
11:38Majovski could be
11:39in to win it.
11:40Majovski scores!
11:44Right on the stroke
11:45of 90 minutes.
11:47Bojan Majovski
11:48gets the goal.
11:50It surely clinches it
11:51for Rangers.
12:01Well, that's truly
12:02relief more than
12:04delight.
12:06On the faces of
12:07all in blue.
12:09It's root one
12:10football.
12:11But it's effective
12:13and Majovski
12:14gets goal sides
12:15of Gogets
12:16and has the
12:16coolness and
12:17composure
12:18to lift it
12:19over Chapman.
12:21It's a fabulous
12:22finish
12:23from a man
12:24who looked like
12:25he was on his way
12:26out of Ibrox
12:27but he's saved
12:28Rangers tonight.
12:35The first goal
12:37of the season
12:37for Bojan Majovski
12:38and that could
12:40be priceless.
12:50will be gutted
12:52Kay McLeish
12:53and look like his
12:54side had done
12:55enough to earn a
12:56point.
13:12full-time
13:14and Rangers
13:15have the victory
13:16which looked for a
13:18long time like it
13:19wasn't going to come
13:20but Bojan Majovski
13:22just his stop
13:24as time began
13:26was able to
13:27find the winning
13:28goal to break
13:29St Mirren
13:30hearts
13:31to break
13:32the resistance.
13:35They offered so
13:36much to the game
13:37the visitors
13:39but it's a win
13:41that keeps
13:43Rangers'
13:44recent run
13:45going
13:47and takes him
13:48into second
13:48position in the
13:49league
13:50above St Mirren
13:51and Hearts
13:52as Majovski
13:53celebrates
13:54he is the hero
13:55tonight
13:56he finishes
13:56Rangers 1
13:57St Mirren 0.
14:03You know
14:04I thought the
14:05performance for the
14:06first hour was
14:06really strong
14:07particularly the
14:07first half
14:08where I thought
14:08we absolutely
14:10battered St Mirren
14:11we went left to
14:12right quickly
14:12we got into good
14:14areas
14:14we counted on them
14:15really well
14:15we put the ball
14:16in the box
14:17we were guilty
14:17of giving up
14:18too many set
14:19play opportunities
14:21and I was really
14:22pleased with the
14:22performance
14:23but I thought
14:23St Mirren
14:24stepped onto us
14:25as I said
14:25for between
14:2665 and
14:27probably 85
14:28minutes
14:29I thought
14:29St Mirren
14:29were the better
14:30team
14:30I thought
14:30they played
14:31well in that
14:31period
14:32but I think
14:33the team
14:33who still
14:34created more
14:35who had more
14:36shots than
14:36target
14:37clearly
14:38and more
14:38attempts
14:39won the game
14:39and that was
14:40us
14:40and I thought
14:41other than
14:42the 20 minute
14:42period
14:42we were the
14:43better team
14:43I'm so proud
14:44of the group
14:44I'm so proud
14:45of the performance
14:46and how brave
14:47we were
14:48how we had to
14:49weather some
14:49storms in the
14:50first half
14:50and Chappies had
14:52to make some
14:52great saves
14:53but we have to
14:53defend like that
14:54if we want to
14:55achieve anything
14:56as a group
14:58I was probably
14:58more disappointed
14:59after the cup
15:01game
15:01because I didn't
15:02think we showed
15:03the best version
15:04of ourselves
15:04throughout that
15:05game
15:05I thought
15:06tonight we did
15:07our second half
15:07performance was
15:08excellent
15:10St Mirren will feel
15:11as though they
15:11deserve something
15:12from the game
15:13but it's Rangers
15:13who make it
15:14four wins in a row
15:15Andy
15:15which keeps the
15:15momentum going
15:16that they've
15:16been building
15:17heading into
15:18these two big
15:18games that are
15:19coming up
15:19what did you
15:20make of the
15:20game as a whole
15:22well I thought
15:23the first half
15:23I thought Rangers
15:24were really good
15:25I think Rangers
15:26have had a vast
15:27improvement off the
15:27ball over the
15:28last three four
15:29games I thought
15:30they played with
15:30a lot of
15:30aggression a lot
15:31of intensity
15:32and they've
15:32created an
15:33abundance of
15:33chances in the
15:34first half as
15:35well but they
15:35just don't seem
15:36to have that
15:36ruthlessness in
15:37the top end of
15:38the pitch that's
15:39six league games
15:39now and only one
15:40of them they've
15:41scored more than
15:41one goal but I
15:43don't particularly
15:44agree with
15:44Derek McKinney's
15:45assessment with
15:45St Mirren in the
15:46second half I
15:46thought they had a
15:47much more than a
15:4720 minute period I
15:49thought some of the
15:49football St Mirren played
15:50in the second
15:51excellent and
15:52Rangers just lost
15:53all control for
15:54the second half I
15:55mean they got a
15:56wee bit too
15:57forceful too early
15:58but take nothing
15:59away from them
15:59because the
16:00forcefulness worked
16:00at the end with
16:01the direct ball and
16:02getting their goal
16:03it did let's take
16:04a look at it
16:04Bojan Majovski it
16:06was a match
16:06winner 91 minutes
16:07St Mirren did not
16:08defend this situation
16:09well but it was
16:10direct as you say
16:10and it's a lovely
16:11finish from Majovski
16:13yeah and it's
16:13Stephen Thompson-esque
16:14it's got to be said
16:15by Ryan Naderi
16:16attacks it ever so
16:17well and take
16:18nothing away for the
16:19finish from Bojan
16:20Majovski as well
16:21it's one of them
16:22where you can try and
16:23prod it around the
16:23goalkeeper you can
16:24try and take it around
16:25the goalkeeper but it
16:25goes for the little
16:26delicate chip and it
16:27just nerses into the
16:28back of the net
16:29but from St Mirren's
16:30point of view I mean
16:31for me this is where
16:32this is where Gogic is
16:33usually so good his
16:34positional sense as soon
16:35as that ball's in the air
16:36he's got to drop a lot
16:38earlier than he does he
16:39can't allow it to be a
16:40foot race between him and
16:41Bojan Majovski when he's
16:42got the momentum
16:42it's a tired looking
16:43Gogic that wasn't it
16:44yeah and no wonder
16:45it's 91 minutes ago
16:46they put a power into
16:47it
16:47they did they put a lot
16:48into the game but
16:49Bojan Majovski I mean
16:50he's arguably Rangers
16:51fifth striker and it
16:53just shows you what
16:54football's like and how
16:54quickly it can change
16:55he was out the
16:56picture just two or
16:56three weeks ago
16:57looked as if he was
16:58going to be on his
16:58way in the transfer
16:59window
16:59has he put himself in
17:00contention for Sunday
17:03he's put himself in
17:04contention do I think
17:05he'll start or not I
17:06don't but he's
17:08certainly more in the
17:09picture off the back
17:10get an injury time
17:10goal at that because
17:11that's a huge three
17:11points for Rangers
17:12yeah it's massive
17:13Derek spoke about the
17:15better first half
17:15control of the game
17:16and the chances that
17:17Rangers created let's
17:18take a look at them
17:19just now Samirn defended
17:20some of these situations
17:21incredibly well and
17:22obviously Chapman in the
17:24goal with a couple of
17:24good saves
17:25yeah well this move in
17:26particular I thought was
17:27the best move in the
17:28match and Ryan Nadiri
17:29goes for power instead
17:30of precision and Chapman
17:32that's one of his many
17:33good saves in the first
17:34half in particular and I
17:35thought Boo and Annie
17:36showed some quality at
17:37times you can see
17:37somebody that tries to
17:38shift onto his left foot
17:39puts balls into the
17:40box I thought the
17:41combination play by
17:42Jedi Gassama and
17:43Penrice worked all
17:44first half I thought
17:45the two of them were
17:45excellent but this
17:46tackle for Fields
17:47that is incredible
17:49looks all the world
17:50as if Ryan Nadiri is
17:51going to tap into the
17:52back of the net and
17:53that would have been
17:54goal of the season
17:54for me
17:57I don't know what
17:58he's thinking
17:58he's been brilliant
17:59and he's
18:00he's paced his
18:01career so far but
18:02that wasn't his best
18:03moment and then here
18:03I mean these are the
18:05moments where I think
18:05Rangers have to take
18:06advantage especially the
18:07game you're talking
18:08about going into
18:08Sunday they're not
18:09going to create as
18:10many chances in a
18:1045 minute period as
18:12it's a little bit like
18:12the Motherwell game
18:13that they won 1-0
18:14also at home you
18:15know creating a lot
18:16of opportunities but
18:17as you really point
18:18out not ruthless
18:18enough
18:19and it's a choice of
18:20finishes for me you
18:21know I talked about
18:22Ryan Nadiri one for
18:23the first one you're
18:24looking for precision
18:24there you want to go
18:25across the goal in
18:26and for me Boo and
18:27Annie's the exact same
18:28I don't know why he
18:29goes by the top of his
18:30foot and goes for
18:30power it's a rebound
18:32open your foot up try
18:33and pick out in the
18:33corner but take nothing
18:34away from Chapman I
18:35thought he was excellent
18:36in the first half
18:36St Mirren they played
18:38some brilliant football
18:39in the second half
18:40and should have
18:41scored a lot of good
18:44opportunities in that
18:46second half
18:46yeah well I thought
18:47they got Kibaya and
18:48Mockery a lot further
18:49up in the pitch I
18:50thought they were
18:51less passive in the
18:52second half out of
18:53position as well and I
18:54thought Luke Thomas
18:55for me made a huge
18:56difference when he came
18:56on I thought he picked
18:57up some lovely positions
18:58in behind Dan Neal and
19:00Nuko Raskin made it
19:01really difficult for me
19:02and this is fantastic
19:03I love this for
19:04Fraser Taylor
19:04bounces it
19:05set back
19:06lovely first time
19:07pass for Luke Thomas
19:08I can't understand
19:10how Ivor Pander is
19:11still inside his
19:12six yard box
19:13considering he ran
19:1420-30 yards
19:16and I've got to say
19:17I thought Fraser
19:18Taylor had a
19:18fantastic game but
19:19the finish is so
19:21got to go across
19:21the keeper there
19:22I mean you can go
19:23across the keeper
19:24you can go near
19:24post one thing you
19:25can't do is you
19:25can't put it towards
19:26Ivor Pander because
19:28I mean it was really
19:28central in terms of
19:29his finish but I
19:31thought St Mirren for
19:31longer than a 20
19:32minute period for me
19:33I thought they played
19:34some fantastic stuff
19:35I thought they looked
19:36more threatening in
19:37the second half
19:38and their ability to
19:39build through the
19:39thirds I thought was
19:40excellent I think
19:41Declan John here
19:42I think if he actually
19:42doesn't strike it as
19:43cleanly as he does
19:44he just goes too
19:44fast past
19:45it does yeah and I
19:46think there's going
19:46to be a tap in for
19:47Jake Young inside the
19:48six yard box but
19:48see at this moment in
19:49time Tom we were
19:50talking about when we
19:50watched it St Mirren
19:51looked as if they
19:52were going to be the
19:52team that was going
19:53to nick a goal towards
19:54the dying embers of
19:55the game but again
19:56Rangers found a way to
19:57win and that's
19:57something they've not
19:58been able to do for
19:59a long time
20:00We spoke about how
20:01Rangers kind of lost
20:02their way in that
20:02second half we've got
20:03some examples to look
20:04at now what did they
20:05start doing were they
20:06not trying to build the
20:08game or yeah well I
20:09thought in the first
20:10half I thought they
20:11mixed up their game
20:12ever so well I thought
20:13they were really
20:14aggressive out of
20:14possession and I
20:15thought out of
20:16possession they were
20:16less aggressive and I
20:17think I just think
20:18they got a little bit
20:19too desperate in the
20:20second half which is
20:20understandable it's
20:210-0 the cows on your
20:22back you're trying to
20:23force your way into the
20:24game but this for me is
20:25where St Mirren just
20:26gains so much
20:26control any time
20:28Rangers won the ball
20:28back they would give
20:29it away within two
20:30or three passes it
20:31would be aimless up to
20:32the top end of the
20:33pitch and in the first
20:33half you've got Kevin
20:34Kelsey and Ryan
20:35Naderi up there so
20:36you've got two focal
20:36points and you've got
20:38the midfield backing
20:38up and supporting the
20:39play but you can see
20:40from these clips how
20:41stretch the game got
20:42for Rangers I mean
20:43any time they went
20:44direct they didn't have
20:46the same amount of
20:46bodies competing for
20:47the ball but they
20:48never had the same
20:49amount of bodies
20:49surrounding the ball to
20:50link up the game for
20:51them as well and
20:52St Mirren just managed to
20:53gain control with it
20:54They were picking up all
20:55the seconds
20:55they were and then
20:56when they gained
20:57control I thought
20:58they'd done ever so
20:59well to build their
21:00way into it and
21:00build their way up the
21:01pitch and create the
21:02chances that we've
21:02just seen before
21:03Not a lot of noise
21:04was made about this
21:05but should St Mirren
21:05have had a penalty
21:06kick in that first
21:07half?
21:08Undoubtedly for me
21:09I mean Ryan
21:10sorry Dujon Sterling
21:11drops his runner and
21:12Caballa gets in the
21:13blind side of him
21:14and I think you can
21:16forgive a referee for
21:17not seeing this at
21:18live time because there
21:19wasn't much appeal when
21:20it came to the
21:20St Mirren players but
21:21when you see the
21:22replays there there's no
21:24doubt in my mind that
21:25it's not Caballa that
21:26initiates contact here
21:27it's Fernandes and you
21:29can see that little
21:29buckle of the ankle to
21:31suggest where the
21:31contact comes and you
21:33know I forgive referees for
21:35not getting that in live
21:36scenarios
21:36So why did VAR not
21:37pick it up?
21:37But VAR's got to pick
21:38these scenarios up
21:39for me I think St Mirren
21:41should have had a
21:41penalty kick in that
21:42instance
21:42Strangely enough I agree
21:43with you
21:45St Mirren they've lost
21:46to Celtic and to
21:47Rangers back to back
21:48but it could easily
21:49have been in both
21:50games a kind of very
21:51different story with
21:52I mean Rubber the
21:52Green do you feel?
21:53Yeah absolutely and
21:54listen they're a work
21:56in progress
21:57they've brought in a
21:57lot of players
21:58throughout the summer
21:59and they're trying to
22:00implement a new style
22:01of football that's not
22:01been seen in Paisley
22:02for a long period of
22:03time and we've seen
22:04loads of flashes of
22:05that they've managed
22:06to pick up some
22:06really good results
22:07in the way
22:08but their season's
22:09not going to be judged
22:09on how they do
22:10against Rangers and
22:11Celtic they'll take
22:11loads of positivity
22:13out of the two
22:13performances
22:14they'll feel as if
22:15they should have had
22:16more than zero points
22:17out of the two
22:17there's no doubt
22:17whatsoever
22:18but if they continue
22:19the performance levels
22:20that they've shown
22:20from now throughout
22:21the season
22:22I think they can have
22:23a really good season
22:23that's for sure
22:24Agreed
22:24St Johnstone welcomed
22:26the champions to
22:27Mcdemand Park
22:28victory in Paisley
22:29and Saturday
22:29maintained Celtic's
22:30100% start to the
22:32season
22:32but Saints confidence
22:33was high
22:34after their weekend
22:35win over hips
22:40and it's going to
22:41come for Fowler
22:41and there's the
22:42opening goal
22:43good ball in
22:45there's a clip of
22:46the ankles there
22:47the referee says
22:48yes
22:49terrific penalty
22:50St Johnstone have
22:52the three points
22:53he's going to
22:54swing in the near
22:55post ball scales
22:56with a wonderful
22:57header
22:59and Yang's in here
23:01can Yang finish
23:07someone's perfect
23:08record goes here
23:09tonight
23:09St Johnstone have
23:10won both their
23:11home games
23:12since they returned
23:12to the top light
23:13Celtic are yet to
23:15drop a single point
23:16in the defence of
23:16their title
23:17and are looking
23:18for lucky 13
23:19after winning
23:20their last dozen
23:20in the premiership
23:21stretching back
23:22to April
23:25St Johnstone make
23:26four changes

24:06Sebastian Tunecki
24:07for Celtic
24:08and St Johnstone retreat
24:10once again
24:12as for who
24:14Hassan
24:15for space
24:18Hassan's efforts
24:21narrowly wide
24:22and did the goalkeeper
24:23get a touch there
24:24I think he did
24:25it's Toby Stewart
24:26tricky play
24:27from Hassan
24:28and Stewart
24:28had to be there
24:31sounds that
24:32St Johnstone
24:33are settling
24:34into this one
24:34not away though
24:36Kasper Hoer
24:36can't quite pick up
24:37he's muscled
24:38out of things
24:40Matthew Todd
24:41for St Johnstone
24:42good looking delivery
24:44just too high
24:44for Taylor Stephen
24:46still the St Johnstone threat
24:48is on
24:48brilliant save
24:49from Sam Johnstone
24:50well that's the best chance
24:52of the match
24:52and that's the way
24:53to make your debut
24:54Joe Cottrell
24:55thought he'd scored
24:56his first goal
24:56for St Johnstone
24:58it's a brilliant
24:59reflex save
25:00from the goalkeeper
25:01lovely delivery
25:02that's a top save
25:05very nearly
25:061-0

25:18nice play
25:20from the Tunisian
25:21it's a corner
25:22it maybe could have
25:23been better
25:24Matthew Todd
25:25with the defending
25:28can Celtic
25:29make one of these
25:30corners count
25:32Tunecti
25:32to Mika Bauer
25:35Celtic have some
25:35bodies at the back
25:36post
25:36some defending
25:37for St Johnstone
25:38to do here
25:38chance for McGregor
25:40deflection away
25:41another corner
25:42is it
25:42yes
25:42well Callum McGregor
25:44may feel that
25:46he could and
25:46should have done better
25:47lots of bodies
25:49in the way
25:49yet more Celtic
25:50pressure
25:51yet another corner
25:57Mika Bauer
25:57to the back post
25:59and Toby Stewart
26:00fumbled that
26:00and St Johnstone
26:01just about survive
26:03well they're living
26:04a charmed life
26:05at the moment
26:05St Johnstone
26:06another deep
26:07delivery
26:08from Mika Bauer
26:09Liam Scales
26:10is in there
26:10after the goalkeeper
26:11flapped and
26:12checked the abate
26:18nice football
26:19from St Johnstone
26:20Joe Cottrell
26:25there's a touch there
26:26is there from Austin
26:28trusty who screams at Mattie Todd
26:30who screams at Mattie Todd to get up
26:31Cottrell's ball towards Mattie Todd
26:36doesn't look like there's any contact there at all
26:40plenty of reinforcements on the bench for Celtic should they be required
26:45promising for Celtic as half-time approaches
26:51Mika Bauer's delivery
26:56Mika Bauer's delivery
26:56so that's the net key for Celtic
26:59and again check the abate is there for the home side
27:01yet another Celtic corner
27:03solid defending once again though
27:06from the home side
27:07against
27:08if you do get it clear
27:14the body
27:15what's the header
27:16buddies
27:16he was with it
27:17and St Johnstone
27:18will pick up
27:19to a cocktail
27:22Matty Todd
27:25Josh Fowler
27:27Boston Johnston
27:32Todd's delivery
27:34hacked away by Boston
27:36Trusty
27:39Colby Donovan
27:41Sorensen
27:42too much space there, Rhys McAleer's done really well
27:46chance for Taylor Stephen
27:47again Sam Johnson to the rescue
27:49for Celtic
27:51and the champions I think will get a free kick on the edge of the
27:53area
27:54not his first
27:56good save of the match
27:58Sam Johnston standing up there to Taylor Stephen
28:02Celtic's debut
28:03boy in goal has kept a clean sheet for them
28:05so far, he'll be very happy with
28:07his first match
28:10Dean Murray
28:11to Colby Donovan
28:14no way through for the champions so far
28:20McGregor
28:22to Austin Trusty
28:28Colby Donovan
28:30out to
28:31Hassan
28:31Hassan
28:32can you get the better of
28:34Minis Alec
28:37Hassan
28:38does well
28:39delivery is
28:40decent but no takers for the Celtic point of view
28:45and again
28:46St Johnston standing firm
28:49Sebastian
28:49to Netky
28:51all the way to Kasper Hu
28:53and Hassan

29:03and it's a first goal for the club
29:06for Mika Bauer
29:10Celtic's pressure
29:11finally paying off
29:14and in the end
29:15Bauer is never going to miss
29:19Kasper Hu
29:20onto
29:22Hassan
29:23Hassan
29:24and Mika Bauer
29:25unattended
29:27fires Celtic into the lead
29:30the breakthrough early in the second half
29:33through Mika Bauer
29:37persistence
29:38from Hassan
29:40simplicity from Bauer
29:42Celtic have the lead
29:51McGregor
29:51has his pocket picked
29:53by Taylor Stephen
29:54Johnson will try and bring the ball away
29:56that's good play though
29:57from Colby Donovan
29:58he's done really well
29:59the Celtic fullback
30:01Donovan
30:02into Kasper Hu
30:03nice little flip
30:03might come for Sorensen
30:04chance here for Tunecki
30:06blocked away
30:07Celtic are claiming a penalty
30:09referee says
30:09corner
30:10well it's all happening now
30:11early in the second half
30:12a Celtic goal
30:14loads of pressure
30:14good play from Colby Donovan
30:17in the first instance
30:18nice Celtic move
30:22Sorensen to Tunecki
30:23the ball's blocked by
30:25the back there
30:27of Matty Todd
30:35gold scorer
30:37Mika Bauer
30:40to Sebastian
30:41to Tunecki
30:42good play from Tunecki
30:47the deliveries
30:48towards Hu
30:49Hassan
30:51and Celtic
30:53think
30:54they have some insurance
30:55but the offside flag
30:57has gone up
30:59Hassan's wondering
31:00if he's gonna
31:01have his first
31:02goal in Celtic colours
31:08no
31:10let's have a look
31:11at this here
31:12has that ball
31:13gone out of play
31:14before it comes back in
31:16well it certainly
31:16when he heads it
31:17it's not out
31:19claps and takes it in
31:20taps and takes it in
31:20taps and takes it in
31:23taps and takes it in
31:26trustee
31:28sees
31:28pass per hook
31:30goes for goal
31:31and can't quite find the target
31:36nice ball through
31:37from trustee
31:44Johnson
31:44under pressure
31:45Stewart
31:46with the up and under
31:47the home side just about get away with it
31:49try and spring a counter attack forward
31:53power picks up
31:54for Celtic
31:56though Sebastian Tunecti
31:57sees the runners forward
31:59Kasper Hu is one of them

32:03Toby Stewart
32:04keeps the deficit
32:06at one
32:07good goalkeeping
32:09nice football
32:10from Celtic
32:10Hassan fancied that far corner
32:12Stewart had it covered
32:15James Forrest

32:19Cottrell
32:20really good play from

33:22that's
33:23for her
33:25great save
33:26Stewart
33:26and he has really
33:28bailed his team
33:29out there
33:29that's for who
33:30can't believe
33:31he hasn't doubled
33:32up there for Celtic
33:33but for the
33:34left leg
33:35of Toby Stewart
33:36that would
33:37have been game set
33:38match Celtic
33:43Tim Mayuka
33:44could be in here
33:47well
33:48Enes Alec
33:49has cleared that
33:51for St. Johnston
33:53as the ball
33:54was nudged
33:55past his goalkeeper
33:58Kalia
34:02Matty Todd
34:03to Macaulay Tate
34:05who's just come on
34:08can Matty Todd
34:09get this one in
34:11Todd's delivery
34:12to Payton
34:13Sam Johnson's there
34:16once again
34:17for Celtic
34:18and was that
34:19St. Johnston's
34:20last chance
34:21time running out
34:22for St. Johnston
34:23now
34:25Diabate
34:26Stewart
34:28Stewart's
34:29clearance
34:29not the best
34:32Miyuka
34:33to James Forrest
34:34to Newgren
34:35chance for
34:36Shin Mayuka
34:36another good save
34:38from Toby Stewart
34:39the second goal
34:40won't come
34:40for Celtic
34:44Stewart to the
34:45rescue for
34:45St. Johnston
34:48St. Johnston
34:49are well and
34:50truly
34:51in the last
34:52chance saloon
34:53now
34:5494 minutes
34:56and counting
34:59and it's wasted
35:01and there goes
35:03the final whistle
35:04it's another
35:06Celtic victory
35:07frustration
35:09a wry smile
35:11for the home manager
35:12whose perfect record
35:14at McDermott Park
35:15is gone
35:15once again
35:17Celtic win
35:19at McDermott Park
35:20Mark O'Neill
35:21wins at McDermott Park
35:23over a quarter
35:24of a century
35:25after the last time
35:26you've got a Celtic team
35:27here
35:27he emerges
35:28with another
35:30precious victory
35:31Celtic won
35:32St. Johnston
35:330-0
35:34very proud of our players
35:36you know
35:36the effort
35:37what they put in
35:37you know
35:38the commitment
35:39defend our box
35:40defend everything
35:41showing the quality
35:43how they can play
35:44it's unbelievable
35:45and then at the same time
35:47yes disappointment
35:48that these top matches
35:49when you play these top matches
35:50you don't get that many chances
35:52but we cut them
35:53and we didn't score
35:54that's the disappointment
35:54of tonight
35:55but at the end of the day
35:58when we keep performing
35:59just taking care of our performances
36:01the results
36:01they will come
36:02a win is a win
36:03yeah
36:04I'm not sure
36:05what to make of it really
36:07I thought that
36:08we could have scored
36:09a number of goals
36:10particularly after we'd scored
36:12we were kind of strong then
36:13for a good period of the game
36:15but never able to put the game
36:17beyond St. Johnston
36:18we're just still trying to get up to speed
36:20with players who have
36:21just come into the football club
36:22you know
36:22finding out what it's all about
36:24here at the club
36:25having to try and win games
36:27while you're trying to get fitness
36:28as well
36:29is that one of the best performances
36:30you've seen
36:31your St. Johnston side put in
36:32yeah
36:34it's up there
36:35but of course
36:36it's performance
36:37not the result
36:39St. Johnston were good
36:40but not good enough
36:41to stop
36:42Celtic's perfect start
36:43to the season
36:44and you know
36:45St. Johnston
36:46had a lot of good opportunities
36:47like Seymour Valakari
36:48is talking about there
36:49they played really well
36:50but ultimately
36:51Celtic come away with the three points
36:53and a valuable three points
36:54that keeps their unbeaten run
36:55going
36:55they did
36:56I think St. Johnston
36:57have had a fantastic start
36:58to the season
36:58you know
36:58seven points
36:59in opening six games
37:00with really good performances
37:01along the way as well
37:02and I think Celtic's performance
37:03today was pretty stuffy
37:05it's got to be said
37:06but when you can introduce
37:07Duran and Negan
37:09and James Forrest
37:10off the bench
37:11then you know
37:12you're going to get quality
37:13off it
37:13and I think James Forrest
37:14it's got to be said
37:15I thought
37:15he offered more than 17 minutes
37:17than Sebastian Tenech
37:19did over the course of 70
37:20so
37:20real injection of quality
37:22real injection of
37:23intensity
37:23and belief
37:24and intent
37:24to go and make a difference
37:25at the top end of the pitch
37:27but ultimately Celtic
37:28you know
37:28they've done ever so well
37:29for a long period of time
37:30I find their way
37:31and they managed to do it again
37:32they did
37:32and it was Mika Bauer
37:33who played well today
37:34I felt
37:35and it's him that got the
37:36kind of all important goal
37:38but you think St. Johnston
37:39should deal with the situation
37:40a wee bit better
37:41well they dealt with this situation
37:42incredibly well
37:44for the opening 60 minutes
37:45and you can see the amount of bodies
37:46they've already got back
37:47into the box
37:47and this was one of the only times
37:48for me
37:49Sebastian Tenech
37:50he was willing to go down
37:50the outside
37:51and put a ball into the box
37:52and then Hassan does well
37:53to keep it alive
37:54there's an element of fortune there
37:56that the ball goes through
37:57Finlayson's leg
37:58he does well
37:58to take the ball away
38:01from Kasper Hoot
38:01but then Mika Bauer
38:02does ever so well
38:03to find an area
38:04inside the six yard box
38:05to tap it in
38:06but you've got to say
38:08Diabatti for me
38:08I think has been excellent
38:09so far this season
38:10but you can't
38:10oversell yourself
38:11you can't commit
38:13at that stage of the game
38:14in that area of the box
38:15and allow Hassan
38:16to say Nick it by you
38:17and as soon as he does
38:18he does well
38:19to obviously flash it
38:20across the six yard box
38:20Hassan's been impressive
38:21in the last few games
38:22certainly
38:22well I'm delighted
38:24I've retired
38:24because I wouldn't fancy
38:25a left back against him
38:26he's just got such a desire
38:27to take his full back on
38:29and get him down the outside
38:31no matter where he is
38:32in the pitch
38:32it just feels as if he's got a
38:33amount of crosses
38:34he puts into the box
38:35amazingly that was
38:35his first assist
38:37since he's arrived
38:37I'm sure there's going to be
38:38plenty more
38:39a good debut for Sam Johnston
38:41one top save
38:42and a couple of other wins
38:43you'd expect him to make
38:45yeah well
38:45St Johnston did ever so well
38:47to build through the thirds
38:47and create opportunities
38:48and it's a delivery
38:50but Alex is there
38:50at the back post
38:51to pick it up
38:51and it's a lovely pick out
38:53for Cottrell
38:54and I mean
38:55that is an incredible save
38:57incredible reactions
38:58to Diverto over the bar
38:59well worked move
39:01Casper Huill will be
39:01disappointed dropping
39:02his runner
39:02and it's great contact
39:03for Cottrell as well
39:04sometimes better not
39:05making good contact
39:06with those ones
39:07in the go
39:07and he caught it
39:07flush
39:08exactly
39:08and you know what it's like
39:10as soon as you make
39:10such a flush contact
39:12you think it's going to
39:12hit the back of the net
39:13100%
39:14Sam Johnston would have
39:15dreamt a save like that
39:15on his debut
39:16that's done very well
39:17to make the pack
39:18because I'd be disappointed
39:20if me or you
39:21didn't save that one
39:22that's for sure
39:25St Johnston
39:25they defended well
39:26throughout the game
39:27and you were talking
39:28about the numbers
39:29they got back
39:29in defensive situations
39:30and the desire
39:32to get back in
39:33and defend your box
39:34yeah well
39:35I think it's so easy
39:36to say that Celtic
39:37were poor in the first half
39:38which they were
39:39it was pretty stuffy
39:40but St Johnston
39:41didn't have to make it
39:42difficult for them
39:42I thought they just
39:43played with
39:44I thought their energy levels
39:45were absolutely outstanding
39:47their ability to close space
39:48cover for teammates
39:49flood the box
39:50these instances you're seeing
39:51they've got at least
39:52nine St Johnston players
39:54in the box
39:54when Celtic are around
39:55so here
39:56there's nine in the box
39:57again
39:57this one's my favourite one
39:59look at Cottrell
40:00Fowler and Stephens
40:01desire to get back
40:02in the box
40:02when Hassan gets to the byline
40:04so when you look now
40:05St Johnston have
40:06all 11 players in the box
40:07they make it so difficult
40:09for Celtic to find
40:10any space
40:11or for Hassan and Teneke
40:12to try and pick somebody
40:13out in the box
40:14and again
40:15Teneke drives down
40:16to the byline
40:16ten bodies in the box
40:18you know what it's like
40:19you're doing a training drill
40:20trying to score against
40:21four defenders
40:22with an overload of six
40:23it's hard
40:24how many scoremen
40:25are living in there
40:25it's tough
40:26but also how tiring it is
40:27for the defenders
40:29to do that for four minutes
40:30St Johnston managed to do that
40:31for the best part
40:3260 minutes
40:32before they were breached
40:33and you've got to say
40:34when they tried to find
40:35a way back into the game
40:36and they were a wee bit
40:37more expansive
40:37they had a couple
40:38of half opportunities
40:39there's no doubt
40:39but that's when
40:40the subs came on
40:41fresh legs
40:42and from then on in
40:43Celtic could have scored
40:43a couple more
40:44Celtic thought they scored
40:45a second
40:46linesman said
40:46they had gone out
40:47VAR
40:48couldn't intervene
40:49because the ball
40:50was out of frame
40:51in their picture
40:51so the on-field decision
40:53stood
40:53but we've both
40:54had a look at this
40:55and for my money
40:56it's not going out of the picture
40:57yeah well for the fact
40:58that the ball did go
41:00out of frame
41:00in the picture
41:01and it makes it
41:02inconclusive
41:03to the point
41:04that VAR can't overrule
41:05the on-field decision
41:06so you know
41:07you can't really have
41:08an issue with VAR
41:09in this case
41:09no
41:09but for me
41:11it just doesn't look
41:12as if the ball's out
41:13and that
41:15they're ones that
41:16linesmans just can't
41:17get wrong for me
41:17because the ball's
41:18stood up
41:19it's chipped
41:19it's in the air
41:20for a long period of time
41:21he's got a better angle
41:22than anyone
41:23so listen
41:24we're speculating
41:25because the ball
41:26it's not conclusive
41:27but it doesn't look
41:28as if it leaves the field
41:28for me
41:29so let's have a wee chat
41:31about Celtic's next game
41:33it's obviously Old Firm
41:34at Ibrox on Sunday
41:35because it's at Ibrox
41:36does that make Rangers
41:37favourites
41:38it's a very difficult game
41:39to predict
41:39how do you see it
41:40playing out
41:41well the fact that Celtic
41:42have a 100% record
41:43domestically
41:45they've got goals
41:45at the top end of the pitch
41:47you've got to make them
41:48favourites at this moment
41:49in time
41:49I think they're playing better
41:50they've obviously won more games
41:52but I think the fact
41:53that it is Ibrox
41:54I think Rangers will be
41:55expecting to get through
41:56the tie
41:57I think it's fascinating
41:58for a number of reasons
41:58I think Martin O'Neill
41:59and Derek McInnes
42:00I think have decisions
42:01to make
42:02in terms of starting the living
42:02well you'd imagine
42:04who
42:05Durant
42:06come back in
42:08Negrin
42:09Carter Vickers
42:09Tierney
42:10well I think the midfield
42:11for me
42:12for Celtic
42:13I think Callum McGregor
42:14and Benjamin Negrin
42:15there's no doubt whatsoever
42:15but do they
42:16do they put an Oxford Chamber
42:17alongside Callum McGregor
42:18to give them a bit of help
42:19is it Bauer
42:20is it so on and so on
42:21what about Rangers then
42:22did they go 4-4-2
42:23or did they not do that
42:25I don't think
42:26they've looked as good
42:26when it's 4-4-2
42:27I think they look
42:28a little bit more rigid
42:29so I'd anticipate
42:304-2-3-1 personally
42:31right
42:31ok
42:32ok
42:32ok
42:33let's have a wee look
42:34at the table
42:36ok
42:37well
42:37it's easy tonight
42:38because there's just
42:39two games
42:40Celtic top
42:41with six wins
42:42from six
42:43Rangers move into second
42:44on 13 points
42:45St Mirren in fourth
42:47and St Johnson's seventh
42:48with seven points
42:50to the trails
