00:00Every autumn there's a container combination that I always come back to. So this is our pot,
00:06it's a very large terracotta and I've already filled it about two-thirds full of fresh compost
00:11and I've added a little bit of grit in there as well. We want to start with the largest plants
00:16and this is an echinacea and the variety is called pumpkin pie which I absolutely love. So I'm going
00:23to place this one in right at the back of the container. They're extremely hardy, they'll go
00:27on flowering through October and then after that they produce these beautiful structural seed heads
00:33which still look gorgeous. The next plant I want to add is a sedum. Now you're probably used to seeing
00:39pink sedums in a garden, this one has a beautiful peachy hue and the foliage is actually almost
00:46burgundy. The next plant I want to add is this winter heather and if you have any bees left in
00:51your garden in autumn they're going to really like it too. I'd like to go around here. Now I
00:56think it's always really nice to have a little trailing element and the herb that I always return
01:02to is thyme. I'm obsessed with how it smells, I love how it tastes. In this little space here
01:08I'm going to put this beautiful herb and then you can tease it so that it trails down over the
01:15edge
01:15of the pot. Then lastly, no autumnal pots in my opinion would be complete without a lovely grass.
01:22This one is super tenuissima and it's going to add a gorgeous soft texture to this pot.
01:29And in it goes, cascading over, these are the plants. Now that it's planted, water it in situ,
01:36don't try to water it and then carry it because it will be far too heavy, it's big enough as
01:39it is.
01:40And as long as you keep it watered, it will stay flowering and looking really fresh all autumn long.
01:45And it goes, i'm gonna try to plant that at the bottom of the pot.
