00:06:11Let's take a quick look at curses tonight. I wanted to explain some interesting stuff to
00:06:18you. Let's start here. There's a bunch of different kinds of curses, but I only want to focus on two
00:06:25tonight. One are generational curses. The other are behavioral curses. We'll leave the rest for
00:06:33another Bible study. Generational curses, as you know, explained in Exodus chapter 20. It was related
00:06:43to idolatry. The Lord warned the Jews, do not bow down to idols, for the Lord your God is a
00:06:51jealous
00:06:51God. I will visit the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation of
00:06:59those who hate me. Exodus 34. The Lord passed before him and said, the Lord God, merciful and
00:07:07gracious, long-suffering and abundant in goodness and truth, I keep mercy for thousands. I forgive
00:07:15iniquity and transgression and sin, and I will by no means clear the guilty. If you sin, somebody's got
00:07:23to pay for it. Nobody gets off. And here's the generational curses, visiting the iniquity of
00:07:30the fathers on the children and the children's children to the third and fourth generation.
00:07:37Now let's switch over to behavioral curses. These are curses that people pick up because they are sinning.
00:07:47They have personal sin. Generational curses you can pick up by being born in a family tree that is
00:07:55cursed. Behavioral curses are ones you pick up because you started sinning. Now here's some quick
00:08:05examples of them. I'm not going to go into any detail. These are all Bible studies unto themselves, but you
00:08:11remember Canaan saw Noah naked in the tent. Remember that story? He got cursed, generation nine.
00:08:19Gehazi stole, you know, got greedy and tried to get the donations from Naaman, and he ended up with what?
00:08:31A generational curse of leprosy that went on him and his family. They all got it. That's an example of
00:08:41your personal sin generating a generational curse. Elisha cursed those kids who were making fun of
00:08:51him because he was bald. Remember that one? A bear came out and ate him, 2 Kings 2. The serpent
00:08:58was cursed
00:08:59by God for deceiving Eve, generational Genesis 3. The earth was cursed by God, which we are still being
00:09:08tormented with now in Genesis 3. And Matthew 21. Jesus cursed the fig tree. And the tree died from the
00:09:20roots up, which is the opposite of how trees die. Ananias and Sapphira, what happened to them? Oh, they had
00:09:29a lying curse. They both dropped dead. Acts chapter 2. Elimus, the sorcerer, had a temporary curse from Paul
00:09:37for blindness. Acts 13. False teachers are cursed by Paul. Anathema, Galatians chapter 1. And King David
00:09:54had a curse fall on his family of adultery. And if you read King David's history, the whole family from
00:10:02that day forward had all kinds of sex problems. And Eli's family was cursed because he would not stop
00:10:13his sons from sinning. They were seducing the girls that came to the tabernacle to give offerings. And
00:10:20his entire family tree from him forward eventually was wiped off the face of the earth. They were all
00:10:31dead. So one man's sin here created a generational curse there.
00:10:42Personal, nasty, ugly sinning. Now, do you get a curse from sinning? No. Okay. We all sin.
00:10:49Everybody sins and so on. These are sins that are grievous, nasty, dirty, filthy, rotten sins
00:10:59can generate curses on people's lives and on their families. Deuteronomy 28 went over it as clear as a
00:11:08bell. If you did verses 1 through 14, you were
00:11:18blessed by God. If you did the behaviors in verses 14 through 68, you were what?
00:11:27Yeah, you were cursed. Blessings and cursings can depend on your behavior.
00:11:40Judas was one of the twelve disciples. Let's look at Judas's curse for a minute here.
00:11:46Luke chapter 6, it lists all the disciples that Jesus called, and Judas was listed last,
00:11:54and Luke mentioned him to be the traitor. And in Acts chapter 1, the Bible says he was numbered
00:12:01with us and had obtained part of the ministry. He was a legitimate disciple. Luke chapter 9 said that
00:12:11Jesus called his twelve disciples, which would have included Judas, and he gave them supernatural
00:12:21power, dunamis, and exousia, spiritual authority, over all demons, and to cure diseases. Judas was casting
00:12:33demons out of people and raising the dead and healing the sick.
00:12:41John chapter 12, Mary's ointment. Do you remember this story? When Mary anointed the Lord
00:12:49before he was murdered? And Judas piped up and said, hey, wait a minute. We shouldn't be wasting this
00:13:00myrrh on you. We could sell this and we could help the poor. This is a typical situation where
00:13:10religious people want to make themselves appear more religious in front of others.
00:13:15They know they're frauds or semi-frauds. They know they're not living for God in private,
00:13:22but they want to do a little church marketing. So they give an impression that they are holier than
00:13:30thou. And so Judas cranks it up and says, hey, we could give this to the poor and help them,
00:13:37see?
00:13:37But it says he was a kleptus. That's similar to a pickpocket. He had the bag where the donations were,
00:13:48and he kept the bag. He took the donations in for the ministry of the Messiah. He kept the money,
00:13:55and he did what? Skimmer. Skimmed it. Matthew 26 says, Judas was one of the 12.
00:14:11And he went to the chief priests and he said to them, what will you give me? And I will
00:14:17deliver
00:14:17him to you. And they said, all right, we'll give you 30 pieces of silver, which was a lot of
00:14:22money back
00:14:22then. 30 pieces of silver now is worth, what's 30 times 58? Anybody, any math majors here? Nobody?
00:14:37Me neither. Let me think here. 58. Huh? What's that? 164. What? No, 100. 174. What's that?
00:14:48How much is zero? 1,700. Okay. 30 pieces of silver worth $58 a piece would be $1,700. Is
00:15:02that what
00:15:03she said? 1,740. Okay. So now that's a pretty good chunk of money. And you get a lot of
00:15:11lottery
00:15:12tickets for $1,700. Inflation has really changed. It sure has. So Judas was rich. That was a lot of
00:15:23money back then, big money. And they were, the scribes and Pharisees were like TV preachers.
00:15:32They collected the money and then they skimmed it or stole it. They were giving donated money
00:15:38by people who didn't have money but were donating it to God to pay him to betray Jesus. That's like
00:15:48a TV
00:15:48preacher. They rake in a bunch of dough, then they buy a plane, a limo, a mansion, all this other
00:15:55crap.
00:15:57Was that the price of a slave, 30 pieces of silver?
00:16:00Yeah. And it was also the price of a, in the Old Testament and Exodus, if your ox hurt someone
00:16:08or
00:16:08killed somebody, you had to pay the reparations. So you had to cough up 30 shekels of silver
00:16:18and you, the ox had to be executed. Okay. So if your ox got out of control and some of
00:16:25them did,
00:16:25they, you know, they have a mind of their own kind of, you've got to pay for that sucker.
00:16:31And I didn't, no, it doesn't say you could eat it. It just says it had to be stoned.
00:16:36Okay. So moving forward, John 13, supper being ended, the devil entered the heart of Judas.
00:16:45Remember that story to go ahead and betray him. He'd already been paid. So he's sitting at the last
00:16:54supper and he already had the money. And after the supper, after the devil entered him, Jesus pours
00:17:10a basin full of water and he goes down each disciple and washes their feet, including Judas's feet.
00:17:33Amazing.
00:17:38Then afterwards, John 13, 21, Jesus said he was troubled in his spirit.
00:17:48Jesus gave Judas every chance in the world not to betray him.
00:17:58He gave him every benefit you can imagine. He made him the treasurer of the ministry.
00:18:07He tells him out loud at dinner, the person that I give this sop to is the one who will
00:18:15betray me.
00:18:16He's telling Judas, I know what you're doing. I'm already aware of what you're up to.
00:18:25Once you get caught, most people would have said, oh my God, I got to pull back on that.
00:18:31He doesn't pull back and stop.
00:18:36And Jesus then says to him, what you have to do, do quickly.
00:18:44He's telling him up front, listen, I gave you every benefit in the world.
00:18:50I gave you the anointing. I gave you the ability to heal the sick and raise the dead.
00:18:57I'm telling you right now, I know what you're doing.
00:19:01And he still left the Last Supper with clean feet and ran to the Pharisees to betray him.
00:19:17Truly amazing story.
00:19:20And this is the reason Judas moves ahead of Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, and Nimrod as the worst human being
00:19:28in history.
00:19:31These are his credentials.
00:19:35Luke 22.
00:19:36While they're praying and Jesus had just left the Garden of Gethsemane, his biggest trial of his life,
00:19:47facing the biggest one next, he died in the Garden of Gethsemane.
00:19:53He asked his disciples to pray for him.
00:19:57They wouldn't do it.
00:19:57They kept falling asleep.
00:20:00They get done, and Judas shows up with hundreds of people.
00:20:06And then he walks up to him.
00:20:09Again, here, Judas is still one of the twelve.
00:20:13He's still a disciple.
00:20:18This is God's grace being shot to a level nobody comprehends.
00:20:25It's literally incredible.
00:20:27The Bible still calls him, one of the disciples, the night he betrays him with a kiss.
00:20:39That means he could have changed his mind on the way to the Mount of Olives.
00:20:52Jesus then says to him, you're betraying me with a kiss?
00:20:57Jesus, wow, one last statement to him, telling him, Judas, I know what you're doing.
00:21:06What are you doing?
00:21:15After Jesus was arrested and tried, it says here he was condemned.
00:21:21Catacrino means to pronounce a judgment and then sentence him.
00:21:28He saw that he was sentenced to death.
00:21:34And he said, oh, my God, what have I done?
00:21:37Which kind of proves my theory on Judas.
00:21:41Like I told you a couple weeks ago, I think he had this thing set up to make money again.
00:21:50He wanted that 30 pieces of silver.
00:21:53But he also wanted Christ to continue his ministry.
00:21:56So he figured, look, he always escapes.
00:21:59Every time they catch him, they catch him at the temple.
00:22:03He gets away.
00:22:04Everywhere they come after him.
00:22:06They send people to get him.
00:22:07He gets away.
00:22:08He'll get out of this too.
00:22:11And then I'll go back to being the treasure and skimming.
00:22:14Plus, I'll get the 30 pieces of silver and I'll be rolling in dough.
00:22:21Judas was a sad person because he, growing up as a kid, he was broke.
00:22:28His dad was a penny pitcher.
00:22:32Every time Judas turned around, his dad was trying to cut expenses and yelling at him not to spend money.
00:22:39And we don't have money for this and we don't have money for that.
00:22:42And Judas grew up with this mindset of, my God, I've got to figure out some way to get out
00:22:48of this poverty cycle.
00:22:51I'm so sick of being broke.
00:22:54I've got to do whatever I've got to do, even if I've got to steal it.
00:22:58I've got to fix this money problem in my stinking family.
00:23:04Everybody in my family trees broke.
00:23:08And so the demons took him over with covetousness and greed.
00:23:16He was a money lover.
00:23:18And people who love money are the root of all evil.
00:23:23Money isn't the root of all evil, is it?
00:23:25But the love of money is the root of all evil.
00:23:31That's what the Bible says.
00:23:33It's the Greek word, philagoria.
00:23:36It means to be heartfelt, heart-set, fond of money.
00:23:42Mmm, I like it.
00:23:44I just love money.
00:23:46So fond of it.
00:23:48It's like a girlfriend.
00:23:50It's like a best friend.
00:23:52And money is the root of all evil.
00:23:59And if you sit and think about it, the love of money does kind of play back to almost every
00:24:04known sin, does it not?
00:24:09Well, his theory and his plan blew up in his face.
00:24:13Jesus didn't get out of this one.
00:24:16He was condemned and sentenced to death.
00:24:19And he said, oh my God, I've got to fix this somehow.
00:24:23And he goes to the phony religious people who gave him the money and said, hey, look, this man is
00:24:35innocent blood.
00:24:37In his mind, he's thinking, look, if I confess it, they'll realize he's innocent.
00:24:42And they'll let him go.
00:24:45Yeah, that's it.
00:24:47I'm going to tell him the truth.
00:24:50It's the first time, one of the few times in his life that he ever was truthful about something.
00:24:56Poor guy.
00:24:58And they said, what are you talking about with us?
00:25:04Who cares?
00:25:05We don't care.
00:25:07That's your problem.
00:25:09Now the guy has been completely possessed.
00:25:16Fear at a level he'd never seen before grips his soul.
00:25:23The horror of what he has done by betraying a Messiah, an innocent person.
00:25:33He knew who Jesus was.
00:25:35Because he lived with him for three or four years.
00:25:41And everything hit him at once.
00:25:43This is one of the reasons that in the deliverance ministry, we try to get people to repent of their
00:25:50past.
00:25:54The misery of it.
00:25:55The regrets of it.
00:25:56The sorrow of it.
00:25:58The failures of it.
00:26:00Your past.
00:26:02Because if you can't overcome your past and allow God to heal it, it will torment you to the day
00:26:10you drop dead.
00:26:12It will never, ever leave you.
00:26:16You have to nail your past to the cross of Calvary in order for you to be free.
00:26:21And Judas now hit with the horror of what he has done.
00:26:28Betraying the living son of God.
00:26:32And his scheme to make money did not work out for him.
00:26:37It all blew up in his face.
00:26:39And he throws the money down in the temple and commits suicide.
00:26:54And that's the goal of every demon in your life.
00:26:58To get you to feel guilt and remorse and shame over your past to the point that you do exactly
00:27:09what they want you to do.
00:27:10And that is to off yourself.
00:27:15And it doesn't happen very often, but in certain cases, a small percentage, thankfully, people do commit suicide.
00:27:25They cannot handle their past.
00:27:29They are not able to overcome it.
00:27:32They will not let the Lord take it from them.
00:27:35They carry it themselves.
00:27:37And in a small percent of cases, they off themselves.
00:27:46How do men do it?
00:27:50How do women do it?
00:27:56Women use pills.
00:27:58Men use guns.
00:28:00Back then, they had no guns.
00:28:03So they...
00:28:05He hung himself.
00:28:09And in Acts chapter 1, Peter goes over it again.
00:28:13He said,
00:28:14Men and brethren,
00:28:15the scripture has to be fulfilled.
00:28:19The Spirit of the Lord gave it.
00:28:23Concerning Judas.
00:28:27He was part of us.
00:28:30He was a legitimate disciple.
00:28:33He was a Christian.
00:28:34He was born again.
00:28:35He had the Holy Ghost.
00:28:37He had a massive anointing.
00:28:39He could have been an enormous evangelist.
00:28:43He could have been a huge part of the revival in Acts chapter 2.
00:28:47He could have been...
00:28:49He could have gone down in history.
00:28:53The opposite of what he did.
00:28:57And this man perched at the field with the reward of iniquity.
00:29:01He fell headlong and burst asunder in the midst and all his bowels gushed out.
00:29:07Now, what happened there?
00:29:08No one knows.
00:29:09But I got two guesses.
00:29:10One, obviously, he got out on a branch, hung himself over the valley of Hinnom, and the branch broke.
00:29:24He fell a story or two, and his body was exploding, and his guts came out.
00:29:35Now, the theory, I believe, I can't prove it in the Bible, was the devil, after he found out he
00:29:42had been tricked by this whole thing after he went to the tomb and found it empty, he couldn't believe
00:29:52it.
00:29:52He thought he had killed him.
00:29:55He made sure of it because he told that soldier to ram a spear up into his side to kill
00:30:03the Lord, and the exact opposite happened.
00:30:07When he did that, 2,000 years later, I got saved.
00:30:14Out came blood and water.
00:30:20Out came blood for my salvation and water for my cleansing.
00:30:24Thank you, Jesus.
00:30:26The devil realized he had been horn-swiggled.
00:30:31That's Aramaic.
00:30:34And he went back and got that body and just went like this.
00:30:39You, mother.
00:30:42Vroom.
00:30:43And smashed him.
00:30:46Can you prove that, Mike?
00:30:47Like, no, I can't.
00:30:48It's just my reading on it.
00:30:54But I'm very happy about it.
00:30:57It was known to all the dwellers at Jerusalem, this field called Saldama is the field of blood.
00:31:06And there it is right now today, near the outskirts of Jerusalem.
00:31:13They buried homeless people there.
00:31:16And they buried people who died.
00:31:18They couldn't find their families.
00:31:19They didn't know who they were.
00:31:20They had no ID.
00:31:22And so, the 30 pieces of silver, the religious people said, well, we can't put that in the treasury.
00:31:30That's blood money.
00:31:31You know, people in the mafia have morals.
00:31:35Did you know that?
00:31:37Yeah, there's, you know.
00:31:38They have, mafia people have very high morals.
00:31:40You can off somebody, but you have to do it correctly.
00:31:48Well, the religious people, they have morals too, okay?
00:31:52And we can't put that blood money in the treasury.
00:31:57So, we'll buy a field so we can bury homeless people and people that die in Jerusalem.
00:32:04We don't know who they are.
00:32:05They got no ID.
00:32:07We'll just put them over here.
00:32:08And there it is right there.
00:32:10Still there to this day.
00:32:12The field of blood.
00:32:18Akaldama.
00:32:19There it is.
00:32:21Acts chapter 1.
00:32:22It is written in the book of Psalms.
00:32:24He's talking about Judas now.
00:32:26Let his habitation be desolate and let no man dwell there.
00:32:31And his bishop prick, which is the Greek word episcope, where we get our English word, episcopals.
00:32:41Do we have any episcopals here tonight?
00:32:47Episcopals are not real popular here.
00:32:53Episcopal is a Greek word that means a church leader.
00:32:55Someone who's a leader or a director in Christianity.
00:33:01Find another bishop.
00:33:03And they did.
00:33:04They found Matthias.
00:33:06And all of this was predicted.
00:33:10The Judas curse was outlined in Psalms 109.
00:33:14And it is a behavioral curse with generational implications.
00:33:21Generational curses almost always have personal, behavioral implications.
00:33:36One person sins, which lets the curse into the family, and then the curse goes down the family tree.
00:33:47Happens all the time.
00:33:50You see the curse hit here.
00:33:55Divorce.
00:33:56And then you look down the family tree and you see all kinds of divorces in the family.
00:34:06Drug addicts.
00:34:07Alcoholics.
00:34:08And then you go down the tree and you see all kinds of drug addicts in the family tree.
00:34:14Have you noticed that?
00:34:15Alcoholics.
00:34:18Down.
00:34:20Bunch of drunks.
00:34:23Every.
00:34:28Were you born in a family tree that was cursed?
00:34:32You have no control over it and it's not your fault.
00:34:40You can't control where you're born, who your parents are.
00:34:46You could have been born in a family tree that's cursed.
00:34:51You just, the curse hit here.
00:34:54People dying from accidents.
00:34:57You go down the family tree, you can't believe it.
00:35:01Car wrecks and all kinds of weird stuff.
00:35:04People dying.
00:35:07Have you ever noticed that?
00:35:09There's a pattern in a curse.
00:35:17Curses come down through the...
00:35:20It's crazy.
00:35:23Curses are...
00:35:23Curses are weird.
00:35:27I don't actually understand them very well.
00:35:31But you can see the pattern
00:35:34in a curse.
00:35:38Eli...
00:35:40Dead, dead, dead, dead, dead, dead, dead, dead.
00:35:43Hello?
00:35:45King David?
00:35:47Huh?
00:35:48Sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex.
00:35:52Hello?
00:35:53King David, curse.
00:35:55Solomon?
00:35:57900 wives.
00:36:02900 wives?
00:36:04You can't even take care of one wife.
00:36:09It's hit or miss for me, and I only got one wife.
00:36:16Yeah.
00:36:18900.
00:36:18600 more wives.
00:36:20300 were concubined.
00:36:22900 women.
00:36:23How do you do that?
00:36:24Well, you can only do that if you're cursed.
00:36:31It's supernatural.
00:36:34Curses are supernatural.
00:36:36Here's the curse.
00:36:37Boom.
00:36:38Everybody in the family got cancer.
00:36:41Cancer, cancer, cancer, cancer, cancer, cancer, cancer.
00:36:48You've seen that?
00:36:49You haven't seen that?
00:36:50Boom.
00:36:51Here's a curse.
00:36:53Convicts.
00:36:55Jail, jail, jail.
00:36:56Prison, prison, prison.
00:37:00Whole family full of criminals.
00:37:04Jailbirds.
00:37:06I'm not making this up, friend.
00:37:09How's that work?
00:37:10Well, I don't exactly know, but it's demonically supernatural.
00:37:15If one of your family members let in a curse, whatever it is, deaths, accidents, divorces,
00:37:24cancer, could be anything.
00:37:26I don't know what it is.
00:37:27But you do, because you can think back and see the pattern.
00:37:33Curses always leave a pattern.
00:37:39There's a trail of breadcrumbs.
00:37:43Curse, mental illness.
