00:00They're a new tool for the police to tackle antisocial behaviour.
00:03We know that antisocial behaviour is a scourge across many of our communities
00:08and that people rightly want more to be done.
00:11So these are a new tool, a powerful tool.
00:13You can put conditions on where people can go.
00:16You can put punishments as part of them.
00:20You can also put conditions that people have to get drug or alcohol treatment
00:23if they've got drug addiction or alcohol addiction.
00:26And if you breach them, it's a criminal offence and you could go to prison.
00:32Well, ASBOs and some of the orders that replace them do different things.
00:36Basically, respect orders bring all of those options together.
00:39So ASBOs were quite good on the punishment side.
00:41Some of the orders are quite good on the treatment side.
00:45This is bringing them together.
00:46And there's a broad definition of what you can use them for.
00:49So what I'm hoping is that all our neighbourhood teams across London
00:54and across the country will be thinking, OK, I know who the real perpetrators
00:59of antisocial behaviour in my community are.
01:01Actually, respect orders is something that I want to use against them.
01:04It's a broad definition. You can use it where you need it.
01:07It's for adults who are those persistent offenders.
01:10And in that way, it brings together the best of all the different orders
01:14that we've had before.
01:16Yeah, this is for adults.
01:17This is for the people you see in the town centre.
01:19You see them repeatedly. You know who they are.
01:21Or the people in a block of flats who are persistent antisocial behaviour offenders.
01:26So councils can apply for them.
01:29So can housing associations and so can the police.
01:31So it's a broad tool for adults.
01:34There will be other interventions for our younger people.
