A touching video from Holdenville, Oklahoma, highlights a woman nurturing a young sparrow. The caregiver explained, "My husband called me from work and asked me to retrieve something," referring to the abandoned baby sparrow that had escaped from its parents. She provides the small bird, named Charlie, with a safe nest and regularly feeds it until it becomes independent. This isn't her initial experience with bird rehabilitation, as she shares her past endeavors. Throughout the footage, the sparrow gradually learns to eat independently and exhibits signs of preparing to fly.

00:00This soft-hearted lady, along with her husband, surely knows how to keep a promise.
00:05It all started when one day, she got a call from her husband while he was in the office.
00:10Well, my husband called me from work and wanted me to come pick up something.
00:17So I went up there and picked it up, and this is what he wanted me to pick up.
00:24Let me get this taken care of real quick.
00:30Come here, little guy.
00:33Come here, little guy.
00:36Oh, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
00:39Turns out to be a little baby.
00:41Oh, he's trying to fly. He's trying to fly.
00:45So I have been feeding him with some tweezers, giving him hydrated bloodworms and watered-down bread.
00:56I found a bird's nest out of our cedar tree and brought it in for him.
01:02This isn't the first time we have rehabilitated or saved baby birds.
01:08So I will keep you updated on the progress. Bye.
01:14Well, it's time to check on the little guy.
01:17We have decided to call him Charlie because we don't know if it's a male or female,
01:22and Charlie is pretty much a universal name.
01:25So let's go check on him.
01:31There he is. There's little Charlie.
01:34Let's see if he's hungry.
01:37Let's get him some bloodworms here.
01:40See if he's...
01:41She immediately started taking good care of him by giving him a comfy nest to live in and feeding him
01:47from her hands.
01:49Charlie.
01:54Oh, yes, you're definitely hungry.
01:57There you go, good boy.
01:59Yes.
02:01After six days, she began noticing the baby evolving and learning to eat on his own.
02:06As days went by, Charlie got more active and quicker.
02:15Charlie.
02:17Charlie.
02:18See?
02:20When he's done, he starts turning away from me.
02:31Well, this is an update on Charlie.
02:35As you can see, pin feathers are starting to bloom out, plume out, or whatever it's called, where they start
02:41opening up more.
02:46And he's eating really well.
02:49Doesn't stay much in the nest anymore.
02:58It was all because of Shanna's efforts, and her husband's support, that the bird grew up healthy and safe.
03:06Charlie.
03:08Rescue is not just a verb.
03:11It's a promise.
03:12A promise to take care of a living being until it reaches a safe place.
03:25And just like that, on day 21, he took his first flight, which didn't last long, but it was a
03:32major milestone for him.
03:37Charlie.
03:38Charlie.
03:44What's more heartwarming is that Charlie wasn't even the first baby bird Shanna took care of.
03:50People like her are what the world needs more of in this day and age.
03:55Have you ever rescued an animal?
03:57If yes, share your story in the comments.
03:59We're sure it'll be a blast to read.
04:02We're now going to keep an eye on the weekend.
04:02We'll be at the end.
04:02We'll be at the end.
04:02Bye.
04:02Bye.
04:02Bye.
