This compelling footage demonstrates the relentless pursuit of recovery and independence. The narrative follows an individual whose life drastically changed after experiencing a significant stroke. "I suffered a brain hemorrhage due to an undiagnosed aneurysm that ruptured unexpectedly while I was at a playground with my children," she shared. Reflecting on the profound effects of this event, she described the transition from being an active educator and caregiver to requiring constant assistance. "My greatest struggle is dependence on others for everyday tasks," she noted. Yet, her determination to reclaim her autonomy remains unshaken, supported by a devoted family throughout these challenging times.

00:00This documentary is about a brave aneurysm survivor, Annika Gardsdahl, who faced a massive stroke, but didn't allow it to
00:08break or weaken her.
00:10Before the stroke, she was like everybody else.
00:13She worked as a teacher, and she took care of her four children.
00:18Now after the stroke, she can't work anymore.
00:21She needs to have somebody with her that helps her.
00:24She needs someone, for example, to change places from one chair to another.
00:30Annika's husband named the stroke, Catastroke.
00:34The day I had the stroke, everything was turned upside down.
00:38I had a plain hemorrhage because I was born with an aneurysm.
00:47And I understood that I had a massive stroke.
00:53My only goal has been to be independent, together, to be able to work.
01:03My motivation is my family.
01:18Annika has been really determined throughout her journey to fight for her rights, and refuses to give up even though
01:25this system has condemned her.
01:27Annika's willpower has allowed her to master her weakness, and come out even stronger than before.
01:33It's really important that you start with rehabilitation as fast as possible when you have a stroke.
01:40And this is exactly what Annika did.
01:42The first two years, it happens the most, and then it slows down according to the doctors.
01:48My family are my biggest supporters.
01:55They help me with everything.
01:59Every day when I go, one of my children helps me with thinking of some from the fridge, for example.
02:14My biggest challenge is that I need help for everything.
02:23I need to ask somebody else to do things for me.
02:30In the morning, I cannot even get out of bed by myself.
02:38I can't be spontaneous anymore.
02:44I see myself in the future, walking and being independent.
02:54I'm watching my grandchildren when I grow up.
03:00As stated by Kate Allat, a stroke survivor, start thinking wellness, not an illness.
03:06Annika has perfectly set an example that her secret to success is in her daily routine.
03:13You can rise up from anything.
03:15You can completely recreate yourself.
03:18Nothing is permanent, and you're not stuck.
03:21New habits can be adopted, but the only challenge is to decide now and never look back.
03:38And it's not something that you look at, except the dream of being a backyard.
03:39That's why I podcast the Depot won't be doing threeší reasons, it's different.
03:39What are the heroes doing in that situation, so my commitment is that I don't have to be able to
03:39interfere?
