00:00And looking at the Conservatives, they're proposing cutting the local housing allowance so it would cover the 10% of
00:10cheapest properties in an area rather than the 30% cheapest properties.
00:16What impact do you think that would have on central London?
00:19It would be devastating. It wouldn't solve the housing crisis. In fact, it would shunt costs and make it even
00:24worse.
00:25We have the largest proportion of children in temporary accommodation in London and that's why this Labour government is taking
00:32action to make sure that there is a supply and that London has the housing it needs.
00:37What the Conservatives are proposing is creating more of a crisis.
00:41They're not tackling housing supply and they're punishing and penalising people where they will end up more homelessness, more temporary
00:49accommodation and therefore we will be paying the cost of failure.
00:52And that's why this Labour government has decided that we're going to invest in long-term housing supply, get children
01:00out of temporary accommodation and make sure we get rough sleepers off the streets of London.
01:04That is the right direction and I'm shocked that the Conservatives have learnt nothing from their time in power and
01:13want to compound the problem that many families face.
