00:00The Hunters Search and Rescue team has played a vital role in this country as a disaster and emergency response
00:06team.
00:06The group, however, does this voluntarily with no costs attached.
00:10The group has not had any headquarters to operate out of since its inception, but Siwa Titi has now stepped
00:17in to help.
00:18Siwa Titi has agreed in our memorandum of understanding to provide a home for Hunters Search and Rescue team.
00:29The truth is, and nobody knows this, we don't have a home, we don't have a place to store equipment,
00:35we don't have anything like that.
00:38And Siwa Titi has reached out to us in this spacious compound in Piako and has indicated to us that
00:46they will make the space available for us to store our things.
00:51The lack of an operational base isn't the only challenge faced by the group, but Siwa's assistance will also help
00:58with the group's ability to communicate effectively and efficiently.
01:02Another area of collaboration is in the area of communication.
01:07Very few people know of the challenges Hunters Search and Rescue team face while we're out there.
01:14We have problems with intercommunications, not only external but internal, and using their current infrastructure, we will be able to
01:26be provided with a good intercommunication system, similar to what other disaster response agencies use.
01:37The collaboration between the groups won't be one-sided though, as the Hunters Search and Rescue team aims to help
01:43out their new colleagues on other fronts.
01:45Another area that we have decided we'll collaborate on is cross-training so that the manpower on both sides, both
02:00Siwa Titi and Hunters Search and Rescue team could be trained so that we could assist each other and create
02:07a larger search and rescue team disaster management footprint in Trinidad.
02:17The facility passed on by Siwa Titi is a self-sufficient one.
02:20It collects water and uses solar energy to run, so even if there is a major natural disaster, the facility
02:27will still be operational.
