00:02Good morning Enzo, quite unusual to have the same opponents twice in four days, both at home in two different
00:09competitions.
00:09What kind of challenges does that pose and how differently will you treat the two matches in terms of the
00:13team that you pick?
00:14First of all, they are doing very well, so both games are going to be a tough game.
00:18And then in terms of how we plan the two games, they are so close, so we need to make
00:23some changes.
00:24But again, we have one more session this afternoon, and then we decide for tomorrow and for Saturday.
00:31We saw what they're capable of against Arsenal a few weeks ago.
00:35They're the top scorers in the Premier League as well. What's impressed you most about Brighton?
00:39They are very brave in terms of they are aggressive, they go, and when they have the ball, they attack
00:47with so many players.
00:48They are creating many chances, they are scoring many goals.
00:53So, yes, we need to pay attention defensively, and we need to do the right things offensively.
00:58Can I ask you about Ryan Ake-Nori? He's only played off the bench in the Champions League a couple
01:02of times,
01:02and he played against Norwich in the Carabao Cup, but he's not actually played in the Premier League yet.
01:06Where do you see his role in your squad? Do you think he's got a long-term future at Manchester
01:11City under you?
01:12It's a clear full-back in that position. We have Josko that is doing fantastic.
01:17We have Nico that, when he's fit, he's doing fantastic, and he's in the same position, so it's just a
01:23competition between them.
01:28Before Saturday's game, Elliot Anderson was asked if the team would face a hostile crowd,
01:34and he said, everywhere we go, we get it in terms of the chance and all that.
01:38I know you've got two games coming up, but is that something the players are going to have to learn
01:42to deal with when playing away from home?
01:45Well, I think we played Liverpool away, we played Villa away, and the players show that they don't care about
01:56the noise,
01:57in terms of they play the game, they are focused on the game, and they are doing the right things.
02:03But with one of the players actually talking about it in the media, it's weighing on their minds, they're actually
02:09thinking about it.
02:10If you ask, they need to answer. So if you ask about the crowd, the noise, they need to give
02:16some answer,
02:17and it's normal that they are going to say something. But again, at the end, I think we are focused
02:23on our job,
02:24and the players are focused on what they can do inside the pitch, and I think, again, Liverpool away and
02:30Villa away,
02:31they show that they are focused on what they can control, that is the football.
02:35And that extra hostility that you might get now away from home, is that something you've discussed together as a
02:41group?
02:41No, but again, probably we don't give too much attention to what we can find when we go away,
02:50but again, we just focus on how we can try to do our best and try to win games.
03:00Hi Enzo, you played Ruli in goal for the last game against Norwich. Will that be the same again this
03:05time?
03:08Donnarumma is coming for a little bit of criticism. Enzo, what have you made of his last few performances?
03:14Yeah, anyway, I think a football player or manager, you know, when you don't get results or you make some
03:22mistake,
03:23it's normal that it's a consequence. Juju, I think, since we started, is doing well.
03:32Like any player, like any manager at some point is making some mistake, but it's part of the season.
03:40Again, they are playing so many games, so many minutes that sometimes it's almost impossible to make some mistake.
03:49Is he somebody whose confidence gets affected? He doesn't strike you as that sort of player?
03:54No, he's quite a strong guy, he's a good guy, he knows.
03:58Anyway, the first one, when they make some mistake, they don't need me or you, they don't need us, you
04:06know, to see you.
04:07That was a mistake. And sometimes it's so clear, so they recognise that and it's part of the game.
04:16Hi Enzo, just on Ruli, he's come in this season. It's quite difficult being a back-up goalkeeper, but how
04:23has he settled? What does he bring to the squad?
04:25No, it's good, it's good. Anyway, before I arrived here, I had a conversation with him.
04:31He knows exactly his role, that is important. He's doing well.
04:35The day-by-day is helping a lot. Juju is helping a lot, the players.
04:40And when he played some minutes, when he played the game, he was good.
04:44And tomorrow he's going to play again.
04:45And is Haaland here at the minute and playing or is he having a few days off?
04:50No, we have, after Villa game, we gave five players three days off to recover energy.
04:58Erling, Ruben, Elliot, Juju and Josco. They are all on holiday.
05:03And they can go wherever and then come back for the Brighton game?
05:06Three days off, energy. Go, come back, full energy and we go again.
05:15Did you give any consideration to allowing Mark Gahy to have a bit of time off as well?
05:20Because obviously he's been playing sort of every minute for club and country.
05:26Yeah, no, I'm completely, especially in this moment, I'm completely happy with Mark.
05:35Because in the way he reacts, he's fantastic, he's a top guy.
05:39Again, he's one of the captain, he's a leader.
05:42And I love Mark, to be honest.
05:44And again, it's the same as Juju.
05:46When they make some mistakes, they recognise.
05:48So Mark is aware now, but again, he played all the minutes since we started the season
05:53with us, with the international team.
05:55And in the last two weeks, probably didn't play the Champions League game.
05:59He played 45 minutes the other day.
06:02So he's completely OK.
06:06Can I ask you about Rico Lewis?
06:08Because he's not played that much so far this season, been on the bench a lot,
06:13didn't make the squad against Hibswich.
06:16What are your thoughts on his development?
06:18Do you see him as someone who is a right-back or does his long-term future sort of lay
06:23in midfield?
06:25He can play both, he can play both.
06:27In this moment, we have also Matteo Nunes that is injury.
06:31So I think he was good in the second half against Villa.
06:36But again, I think he can play full-back, he can play midfielder, depends on where we need him.
06:43Hi, Enzo. The Ballon d'Or ceremony was last night and it was noticeable in the 30-man shortlist
06:50the lack of Premier League players.
06:52I think we like to think that the Premier League is the best league in the world.
06:56But do you think that certain clubs, Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG,
06:59still maybe have a real attraction for players in Europe that perhaps the Premier League doesn't have?
07:04Probably especially because PSG won the Champions League in the last two years.
07:11So many PSG players are there.
07:14And again, also Real Madrid, Barcelona, but at the end, English players won.
07:19So everyone is happy.
07:22And Erling was the only Manchester City player on the 30-man shortlist.
07:25Do you think sometimes that maybe there's not a realisation of the quality
07:29and it's not appreciated how much quality you have in your squad at present?
07:33No, we give credit to our players and we recognise that.
07:39But again, this kind of reward most of the time is because it's a consequence of the club.
07:45Again, PSG in the last two years.
07:47But again, hopefully next season we can bring more players in the top ten.
07:54Anything else, guys? No?
07:56OK, I'll leave it out. Thank you.
