coffee's poured, and there's a question in Their Brother, the Dragon Sacrifice nobody asks out loud.
Who made the food? Every meal appears already made. The table is set, the pots are warm, and nobody is ever in the kitchen when the family sits.
Except once. Early on, a wide shot through a doorway, flour on a counter, and him wiping his hands. Four seconds.
After he leaves, the kitchen becomes a location. Someone burns something. A plate sits covered on the counter for three episodes and nobody knows who left it.
The show never says he fed them. It just stops showing anyone in the kitchen.
✨ What worked for me:
- One four-second shot carries it all.
- No one ever thanks the cook. Ever.
✨ Bottom line: the labour keeping a family alive is the labour nobody photographs.
Who cooks in your house, and does anyone say thanks?
