00:00First thing I'm looking at is do you light your candles?
00:05I'd say lighting and smell actually are probably my two big things. So is the lighting at the
00:09right level? Is it feeling soft? Is it feeling cozy? Is it feeling made? And how does it smell?
00:13Does it smell good? The way they light the house. Natural light and soft lighting.
00:17I have a real thing about candles that are for prop only and never lit. I judge you hard if
00:24you
00:24have candles for show. A candle should always have wax dripping on it. I think it's a true
00:28telltale sign of a lived-in home. So yeah, first thing I'm looking at is do you light your candles?
00:35One thing that's exciting me in interior design right now is the move back to first principles.
00:40Well-proportioned rooms, wainscoting, cornicing. This idea that we want to get a really solid shell
00:45and architectural integrity to rooms and then work that into the interiors.
00:50A sense of expressionism. I feel like people are so much out there and so much more expressive
00:57with their projects. I think there is an end of the era of beige and white and people are just
01:03really embracing their own personality and character and I love that. It's hard for me to
01:07narrow it down but something that's really exciting to me in the last week is a new brand of wool
01:12finishes called Mass Maya. They do lime wash plaster, lime wash paint and it just adds so much depth and
01:18interest into RIM.
