00:00Can you point towards that last couple of minutes there?
00:03The last couple of minutes were torture for me, even though they were a man down,
00:07they're still ten of the best players in the country.
00:10Ultimately massively proud of the players, emotional that goes with that,
00:15but I ultimately can't believe what we've done, what we've just done.
00:19Fleetwood town, little old Fleetwood, in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup.
00:25During the game, chances for you were few and far between,
00:31but in fairness, you matched up a good chunk of the game, didn't you?
00:35Yeah, if you understand that the game of football is going to be few and far between,
00:39look at what they had at their disposal compared to us in every facet.
00:43There can't have been much bigger of a gap in terms of infrastructure, budget, everything.
00:50The ability to track players, we're never ever going to dominate that game, ever.
00:55We could play it a hundred times, we wouldn't dominate a hundred times,
00:58and this might be the one time that we won.
01:01Ultimately, that's the results business.
01:03We've had games this year where we've dominated and come out on the wrong side of a result.
01:09For me, I was just so proud of the discipline, tactically how well the boys did it.
01:14Just the endeavour, the endeavour of the lads to go again and again and again and again.
01:19When Connor steps up, see this place just explode, I mean, it's what football is all about, isn't it?
01:25Yeah, I think football is becoming a lot more clinical, a lot more professionalised,
01:29a lot more detached, if I'm honest, because of all the things I talked about before,
01:35but that was a real feeling, a real night, a real occasion and a real moment,
01:40especially for 19-year-old centre-back Connor Hawhey, who's probably played 20 league games now,
01:45coming through our academy, steps up and gets the winner on a historic night for the club.
01:50I'm sure somebody will tell you this down Tesco or something, but what do you think it means to the
01:56town?
01:56I think it's a huge boost for the town of Fleetwood. We're a really small, close-knit community here.
02:03I think we do a good job within the community, because we are so close-knit,
02:07and we're really well represented within the community here.
02:10We only get probably average 2,000, 2,500 fans, but we've got a town of 26,000, 27,000,
02:17so for me, I couldn't be more proud of how we came out and showed what Fleetwood town's about,
02:23and I just really, really hope that it attracts a couple more fans and helps us drive us up that
02:28table.
02:28Hopefully more big nights to come.
02:30Yeah, hopefully we're in the quarter-final, it's mental, isn't it?
02:33We're in the quarter-final of Carabao Cup, so a few more big nights to come,
02:39and hopefully we can take it into the league.
02:42In fact, you spoke really highly of Arsenal and Mikel in the build-ups in the game.
02:46Have you had the chance to speak to him at full-time?
02:48No, he shook my hand two or three times, and he was really, really gracious,
02:52and I can imagine it's a really disappointing night for him,
02:55but the way that he acted with class is amazing there,
02:58and I would love to catch up with him, pick his brain and learn off the best,
03:02but he's been really busy with media and all the emotion, the crowd quite so.
03:07We've not managed to cross that, but he said well done in the tunnel briefly,
03:11and how well we did, and that was it.
03:14Obviously a show of class from him.
03:16How much does that speak to how good your team are going toe-to-toe with them?
03:20Best in Europe?
03:20Yeah, best in Europe, best in the league, best in the country, champions of England.
03:25It's an amazing night for the football club.
03:27If you would have told me that this morning, I would have believed you a little bit.
03:30Maybe not at all, but for me I'm really, really pleased and proud that we've managed to win a game
03:37of football
03:37against the best team in the country. Thank you.
03:40You mentioned belief. Before a game like this, is there the belief that you can win tonight,
03:45or is it more go out and enjoy yourself as best as you can?
03:48No, you've got to get the message across.
03:50You've got to believe that moments like this can happen, because otherwise they won't happen.
03:53We know we're relisting the game of football that, as I said to you before, if we play that 100
03:57times,
03:5899 probably, they win, but the one time that we can believe.
04:01It is a game of football at the end of the day, it's 11 humans against 11 humans,
04:04and we did have belief, but we also talked about enjoying the moment,
04:09especially after enjoying everything around it.
04:13I just hope they soak it in, have a nice day off tomorrow,
04:16and then all guns blazing for Bristol Rovers on Saturday.
04:20Congrats.
04:22Cheers.
04:23Thanks very much.
