00:00And Bam feels like he's the scapegoat for the Heat's struggles so far
00:07and came out and said that the media, the outside media critics
00:14are going to blame him for everything with this team.
00:18That was his take, and it was kind of weird.
00:22And listen, he will turn the shooting around, and he will be better.
00:27He can't be any worse, 11.8 points per game, seven rebounds, shooting 40%,
00:32awful on three-point shots.
00:36I just thought it was a weird take.
00:38And so I don't know if Bam met – listen, social media is vicious for everybody, man.
00:43It is a mean place to live.
00:46And if you pay attention to it, which Bam obviously does,
00:49or somebody that he cares a lot about that's in his ear every day does,
00:56that that's his first thought after a crummy game.
01:01And I'm just like, wow.
01:03And it's not like he's 21 or 22 in the first or second year of the league,
01:09and, you know, and you hear – I'm just amazed that Bam hears all the noise,
01:16and he feels that he's the only guy getting blamed for what's going on with this team.
01:23And, you know, I'm like, Bam, everybody's been pretty good to you,
01:27and nobody's been better to you than the Miami Heat.
01:30And you're going to come out and say outside media critics –
01:36I don't know what is an outside media critic.
01:38Does that mean outside of the Miami Heat locker room?
01:41That would be everybody.
01:42You are right, though.
01:43Our media is not especially vicious down here.
01:45No, we're not.
01:45We're not meeting any sport.
01:47When somebody calls me from a team and says something, I'm like, are you kidding?
01:52How would you like to have your job in New York or Philadelphia?
01:56We'd go through a lot of markets, actually.
01:58I mean, look what they're doing to Cam Ward in Tennessee.
02:01Those guys have been really brutal to them.
02:03They're getting after him, and he fights back and the whole thing.
02:06But anyway, and I would say this.
02:08If it has anything to do with social media, maybe not that you're ever going to get off it
02:15because nobody's going to get off it.
02:16It makes people money.
02:17It's good for business.
02:19And so that's the good and the bad.
02:22Hey, congratulations.
02:23You have 400,000 or 500,000 followers or millions of followers according to how good you are
02:28and how popular you are.
02:29But if you think it's going to be a love affair with everybody on there, guess again,
02:34you're going to have a lot of people that are going to hate on you every day.
02:38And you're going, why do you follow me if you hate me so much?
02:40Because that's the way of the world.
02:43People listen to you, watch you, and then turn around and say they don't like you.
02:47And you're like, why are you wasting your time listening to me or watching me?
02:51You can go a lot of different places, man.
02:53You don't have to just be with me.
02:54There's a lot of different players in the league that you can go after.
02:59And listen, hard a ways off to a crummy start shooting the basketball.
03:03It's not just a BAM thing.
03:05Yeah, I was going to say, basically everyone on this team
03:08is underperforming, right?
03:09Correct, yeah.
03:10We've got a lot of guys who look a lot better on this team.
03:13And I do believe it's going to get better.
03:16I mean, they're not going to keep losing.
03:19And it's Atlanta tonight, as you just mentioned.
03:22I just thought it was really weird that I see.
03:25And BAM, and of course nobody really touches it in this town.
03:30The national guys do, but this town.
03:33And I get it.
03:34They've got to cover the team.
03:35There's only a handful of them.
03:37And so nobody wants to say anything.
03:40But listen, man.
03:42You know, you make a lot of money.
03:45They built it around you.
03:49One of the number one reasons Giannis wanted to come here is because of you.
03:54You were the piece.
03:56And Giannis goes, wow.
03:58BAM, not a ball hog.
04:01Everybody loves playing with him.
04:04Got a great reputation in the league.
04:07Man, it would be a good guy for me to go play next to.
04:10And I can get mine every night.
04:12And BAM can help me out.
04:14And we'll be good together.
04:16And they probably will down the road.
04:17I think they'll get it figured out.
04:19With Swolstra's help and everything else, they'll get this figured out.
04:23But I was just like, come on, man.
04:25You're damn near 30 years old.
04:27Is he 30 yet or right at 30?
04:30Come on, man.
04:31You've been around this.
04:32It's not like you shoot well every night.
04:35You've been through this last year or the year before when you have a couple of games
04:39where you don't shoot the ball or you have a one for 10.
04:43And, you know, and you have a four-point or eight-point or seven, something under 10 points.
04:48And we lose, and they look at you.
04:51Yes, they do look at you.
04:53And now you're shooting a lot more threes.
04:55And if you don't make them, people are going to say, why are you shooting so many threes?
05:00Even though Swolstra has said, BAM's worked on his three-point shooting.
05:04We love him taking threes.
05:07So, anyway, and I get this, man.
05:09When you lose, we point fingers at every team.
05:12Look at the 0-5.
05:13Look at what we've done.
05:14And we even educated people on get ready.
05:18We got rid of everything.
05:19It's young.
05:20It's thin and young.
05:22And we'll find out how talented it is because we don't even know.
05:25We didn't know about last year's draft class.
05:27We didn't know about this year's draft class.
05:30And we got off that start, and it's like, this team sucks.
05:33These guys should all be fired.
05:36I don't want to hear about the money.
05:38I don't want to hear about what they did.
05:39They did that, and they – okay, okay.
05:43So, anyway, that's what happens when you lose, bottom line, in all these sports.
05:49And we look at the best players, or we look at the people making the decisions,
05:54and we go from there.
05:56Anyway, we got a lot of stuff to get to here this morning.
05:59That was just a little crazy one.
06:01Rays, in 12 innings, stay alive last night in Tampa Bay.
06:06Brewers still up three games to one.
06:08And they played 12 last night, 4-3 win for the Rays.
06:13And, as you said, Panthers end up splitting the four-game road trip
06:17and back home now for a few games.
06:20First of three tomorrow against Winnipeg.
06:23And then on top of all that, we got a couple of big football games coming up here.
06:27We'll get into a lot of that stuff as well.
06:30We got some other news, too, that we got a little time here early in the morning.
06:34It's just getting up.
06:35Always appreciate you being with us.
06:39So, sometimes you have guys that hate on your area and hate on your teams,
06:43and you just get where you really dislike them.
06:46And one of those guys is Paul Pierce.
06:48Through the years, that's gone after D. Wade really hard.
06:52As, you know, again, D. Wade, one of the great players of all time in the league
06:57and one of the greatest players we've ever had down here in any sport,
07:01let alone the Miami Heat.
07:02The greatest Miami Heat player drafted of all time.
07:08So, Paul Pierce has gone after him through the years about his shot and I'm better
07:12and all that stuff.
07:13And, you know, it's always jabs and it's always been all this stuff.
07:17And, you know, he just kind of rubs us the wrong way.
07:22So, now, you know, and I was trying to figure out how I was going to –
07:26yeah, I don't wish bad on anybody, man.
07:28Even guys I don't like, somebody calls me and goes,
07:30dude, you're not going to believe what happened.
07:32And I know how you feel about this guy.
07:35Check this out.
07:36And you go, you know, you might make a comment,
07:39but then you step back and I don't know, man.
07:42Sometimes I care, I'm not going to lie.
07:45So, anyway, Paul Pierce is drowning financially.
07:49Comes out, he's broke.
07:52Kids, child support, spousal support, legal fees.
07:58Hasn't been able to have any stability with jobs.
08:01He's been fired from ESPN.
08:03He's been fired from Fox Sports.
08:06And so, now he had to come out and say,
08:09hey, man, I know I've made $200 million playing in the NBA,
08:13but I got $300,000 left.
08:15Now, I don't know if that's true and people hide money and all that.
08:18And, you know, you're trying to get your numbers down.
08:23But they put all this stuff out there.
08:26So, if you don't like Paul Pierce,
08:27people are having a field day with this, man.
08:30This is like going to Disney World for people that aren't a Paul Pierce fan.
08:36These stories are remarkable, though, aren't they?
08:39Guys that can blow through.
08:40And that's just his basketball earnings.
08:42Yeah, no, no, that's a good point.
08:43Remember, he had a great job at ESPN.
08:46And then he puts out that wild video.
08:48Remember, he went live on Instagram or something.
08:50He's got the strippers in his house.
08:52I'm guessing he's had a shoe contract in there, too.
08:54Oh, yeah.
08:55Yeah.
08:55I'm guessing he's done some other stuff,
08:57although he seems to screw everything up.
08:59There's no question he is, you know.
09:02I mean, how you get the ESPN deal that he did was just like,
09:06I mean, that's like, if you and I did, we'd all be gone.
09:11We'd all be gone, sitting there with a stripper behind him.
09:15And I don't know what kind of relationship.
09:17Says he earned an average roughly $128,000 to $165,000 per month at Fox.
09:23Yeah.
09:24No, he even.
09:24That was just at Fox.
09:25Yeah, that was his last job, the Fox Sports job.
09:28That was after he got booted from ESPN.
09:30Yeah.
09:30He was able to get a job.
09:32He made $8 million with the Clippers at the tail end of his career.
09:35So how about this one, though?
09:37I just look, and, you know, and they have to show everything
09:43and what he's spending, and he had to put it out.
09:46So he came out with $12,000 a month for food.
09:54It was a breakdown of $5,000 a month for groceries and $7,000 eating out.
10:00Mm, okay.
10:01You're not getting any sympathy from anybody right there, brother.
10:04That's impressive.
10:05$12,000.
10:06That is impressive.
10:07$3,500 a month for entertainment.
10:10What does that mean?
10:13That could be strip club.
10:15I know what you're thinking, man.
10:16That could be.
10:17That is expensive entertainment.
10:20But you see that stuff, and you go, hey, man, you start talking about maybe if you cut down there,
10:25you'd have plenty of money.
10:26You'd be okay.
10:27You have to adjust your life a little bit.
10:28But anyway, you know, people are, and apparently he's got, I don't know if they're ex-wives or girlfriends.
10:37I didn't really read into it.
10:39But once you have a kid with somebody, they're kind of connected for life if you're not aware of that.
10:43It doesn't matter at that point, right?
10:44Yeah, no.
10:44So anyway.
10:45So anyway.
