Shaun and PC react to Nick Caserio saying teams have reached out to the Texans ahead of the NFL trade deadline. With the Colts dealing away Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner and the Cardinals and Eagles also making moves in lost seasons, they debate whether Houston needs to consider bold moves of its own.

00:00Should the Texans seriously listen to teams interested in, and by the way, when I say listen, I also mean
00:08make some phone calls to also listen to the people on the receiving end of their phone calls.
00:14Should they listen to these kinds of individuals? Anybody costing the Texans serious money and or are on expiring contracts,
00:26and that might mean some really uncomfortable names to mention, like David Montgomery, who you just got, like Daniil Hunter,
00:34who you're paying $40 million to, I think.
00:36And you know what? This one's going to pierce the heart. This one's going to grab you by the, and
00:42it might suck a little bit. No pun intended.
00:46Nico Collins, should you be listening, should you start conversations in what very well could be a lost season?
00:54Now, Texans ain't going to come straight out on a microphone or a TV camera and say, yep, this season's
01:00foobar, we're done for.
01:02They ain't going to do that. No, we hope, we think, we're doing all the right things, blah, blah, blah.
01:06Everything you've heard the last 48 to 72 hours from D'Amico Rines and Nick Casario, that's the usual.
01:13Hey, you're 25-year veterans of this Houston Texans franchise. You know the drill. You know the drill.
01:19We've been disappointed before. We've had expectation before. Never as high as this.
01:23And we've been disappointed beyond belief before. Should the Houston Texans be seriously considering
01:30parting ways with some fan favorites, some guys that make us really happy when they're healthy
01:37and playing good football on a good football team? Should they be entertaining this, PC?
01:43I think you need to hedge your bets. Once again, they're on life support at 2-5.
01:50You were 0-4. You were on life support. You win two games in a row. Things are going in
01:55the right direction.
01:56And then somehow, in your own building yet again, your offensive line can't block a paper bag.
02:03Your defense has it run right down their damn throats, parting like the Red Sea.
02:09Good thing they wore the red uniforms, so like the visual was perfect.
02:14And hold on a second. I think the Jetsons just got called for another penalty.
02:19It was embarrassing. What do they have, 14 flags?
02:2410 accepted.
02:25Yeah, but accepted. I think they had like 14 flags thrown on them.
02:29Yeah.
02:31It's week seven. What the hell? How is that even possible?
02:37And what happened to the Texans' run defense?
02:41What happened to the Texans' physicality?
02:43What happened to the swarm mentality?
02:46Those guys got shoved all over the field, offensively, defensively.
02:53The offensive line was a damn joke.
02:58This was an embarrassing performance on damn near every front.
03:04It really was. It was embarrassing.
03:07And now they find themselves right back where they were three weeks ago, which is clinging to life by a
03:14single string.
03:17And you get the bye week, then you get the Chargers game in LA, and then two days after the
03:24Chargers game is the deadline.
03:27If you don't win the Chargers game, you're selling because you're not coming back from two and six.
03:34And I don't think there's any reason to think you could come back from two and six.
03:37They literally have a bye week here to get their heads out of their asses, especially on defense.
03:45You know, before the season started, you had asked me, hey, one of these units goes back, offense, defense, which
03:51one could you more withstand?
03:53Yeah.
03:54Clearly the answer is not defense.
03:56And that was our answer.
03:58That was our answer.
03:59That was everybody's answer, right?
04:01Like, my question was, is like, if there was a facet of this team, like one of the three, offense,
04:10defense, special teams, or even within a unit, receiver core, offensive line, like linebackers, D-line,
04:18if this team could withstand a regression at one of those levels, in one of those facets, what could it
04:26be?
04:27I think we all said defense.
04:30I think we all said defense.
04:32Like, hey, man, you were the number one NFL defense last season.
04:35In dominating fashion, you took what you always thought was yours.
04:40They took the ball away almost at will.
04:42They generated takeaways more than any other team in the league.
04:46And they played more physical than you.
04:49They were nastier than you.
04:50Hell, they didn't play to the line.
04:52They crossed that line.
04:53We saw it a number of times, right?
04:55They literally played on the edge.
04:58And I loved, I loved the reputation that D'Amico Ryan's and this defense was building.
05:04And now it is a defense that is getting flexed on in their own building in overtime.
05:11Like, the Giants are so confident that they win the toss and they say, yeah, you can have
05:19the ball first and try to score on us bitches.
05:22And they go three and out.
05:24Seriously?
05:25And then, what was it, three plays for them that they score on the Houston Texans?
05:29Maybe four.
05:29I don't know what the hell it was.
05:31It was too damn quick on the ground with a dude that just got benched.
05:35The dude that, you know, damn near tore his hamstring.
05:39Probably would have scored if he wouldn't have, you know, tweaked the hammy or whatever the
05:43case may be.
05:44I'm surprised it even slowed him up.
05:46That guy's so damn psycho.
05:47You figured he'd just run right off the thing.
05:49The thing would just fall off the bone and he's still going.
05:52You know, just picks up his left leg and he's going to bring it with him as he hops down
05:55the field.
05:56It's psycho.
05:57So, that's where we are.
06:00And so, games like that, when, and you've been through the gamut, the seven weeks in,
06:06you're two and five.
06:07Not every time, but a lot of the time, you've experienced these things.
06:11You've either been outcoached.
06:12You've been outschemed.
06:14You've been outphysicaled.
06:15You've been outtalented.
06:17You've been beat by a quarterback that may never play quarterback for anybody ever again,
06:23Daniel Jones.
06:24Oh, my gosh.
06:26Oh, my gosh.
06:27Like, so, sometimes when those things happen, it creates, you know, fractures.
06:34It creates compound fractures.
06:37And what I'm getting at is, hey, man, you've said it PC to me and we know it to exist
06:42to
06:42it to be true because that's what we've been told and that's what we've witnessed.
06:46But if this is a 50-50 partnership, like we believe it is between D'Amico Ryans and Nick
06:51Asario, then it's times like these where those working relationships, those business
06:58relationships, they can fracture.
07:00They can break because one or the other, if not both, are trying to save their own ass
07:05or trying to save the team or trying to save the season or trying to pivot for their next
07:08job because, you know, theoretically, they're still young in the business and they've got
07:13to look out for themselves.
07:15And so I'm wondering now if we can trust D'Amico Ryans and Nick Asario to approach this buy
07:24week with the necessary aggression, whatever that means, to approach this trade deadline
07:32with the appropriate aggression, again, whatever that means for them to make the most sense
07:38for this season and beyond and beyond, like, can we trust them to continue to work as a
07:46tandem, but not to do the same damn thing?
07:49Because at this point in time, it calls into question, do you need to pivot?
07:54Is there a different course of action you've got to take to get back to what this team we
08:00all thought was capable of doing?
08:02And that is contending for a Super Bowl.
08:04Now, for those of us like me, and I have to speak for all of us in this room because
08:09your money's on that ticket to PC, dumbasses.
08:12We look like damn fools for thinking that because of the product that they've shown on
08:18the field.
08:19Yeah.
08:20You know what?
08:20I've thrown money away on worse things.
08:22Fair.
08:23But, uh...
08:24I can think like it was...
08:25I know, like it was yesterday, the worst thing I've ever spent $250 on in my life.
08:30More on that later.
08:30You know, we've, uh...
08:32There was a lot of hope and a lot of excitement coming into this season.
08:36And, man, so far, they've spit the bit.
08:39You know what?
08:41I don't want to hear about fire Nick Casario because your quarterback isn't the problem.
08:48Your...
08:49Even your skill position players aren't the problem.
08:51Your blocking scheme is a problem.
08:53That seems to be a problem all the time.
08:55All right, I got tired of seeing Lakin Tomlinson starting for the Green Bay Packers.
09:00That guy got ran out of here so fast he thought he stole City Hall.
09:03Is he really starting?
09:04He was starting for the Packers.
09:06Is Juice Scruggs still starting for the Lions?
09:08Starting for the Lions.
09:10If you tell me Kenyon Green is starting for somebody, I will be very upset.
09:15I can't answer that question off the top of my head.
09:16Okay.
09:18Kenyon Green, I believe, is out of the league because he had hurt his shoulder and never really overcame that
09:23injury.
09:24Yeah, yeah.
09:24But it's amazing how many guys that weren't even going to make this roster are starting for better teams right
09:33now.
09:33Yeah.
09:34All right.
