😮 Microsoft just offered buyouts to 60,000 employees — 27% of its entire workforce.

The reason? #AI. Microsoft is spending $175 billion on AI data centres and chips in 2026 alone, and it needs to cut costs elsewhere to keep up. Eligible staff in Canada, India, the UK, and the US — including teams working on Copilot, Xbox, and Windows — can now choose to leave voluntarily.

This isn't the first time. Earlier this year Microsoft offered buyouts to 7% of its US workforce, and in July it cut 4,800 jobs overhauling Xbox. The AI spending race is reshaping Big Tech from the inside out — and Microsoft is one of the clearest examples.
