00:00Blackwell is one of the bigger cattle selling centres in Queensland but it hasn't been able to have a sale
00:05for the last couple of weeks because of all the unseasonal October rain that's been around. However, they did manage
00:10to yard just over 2,000 head today. The laneways weren't as muddy as you would imagine. Agents described the
00:19yarding as mixy so I think some of the cattle had been showing the effects of the dry conditions before
00:25this.
00:35A lot of cattle drawn from the Julia Creek, Winton and very, very few local cattle here today. A lot
00:43of Caulfield cattle and a very, very mixed quality yarding but the market was very, very small.
00:49The tops of your saw steers were 700 cents per kilo for some wiener steers from the Jericho district. Tops
00:56of your saw heifers, your wiener heifers were 560 cents. Jericho cattle sold very well as well, 530 cents for
01:05their wiener heifers.
01:06Lead to your feed of steers making 570 cents in a very, very small yarding of feed of steers. Lead
01:14to your feed of heifers making just on that $5 mark in a very mixy quality yarding.
01:20Lead to your cows making a tick over $4 again in a mixed quality yarding with a small yarding of
01:26fat cattle. Lead to your bullocks making 480 cents.
01:29Lead to your cows making 480 cents, all your feed lots were buying from the downs. Backgrounders, local backgrounders, as
01:35well as backgrounders from the St. George district.
01:39Yeah, very, very competitive market.
01:41Isn't that awesome?
01:42I'm here for the poor runner.
