00:00And I want to be honest with people, because no government can completely offset or cover the costs that people
00:07face and the pressures that people face.
00:09But I think they should expect, and I hope they've seen today, a recognition that where we can help, we
00:14will.
00:15So that's the household energy payment.
00:17Yes, it's extending that, taking VAT off electricity bills altogether.
00:22But also I'm going to move next year to remove standing charges on gas bills.
00:27And for many people, they pay over £100 a year and they feel, look, I'm paying for this regardless of
00:35how much I use.
00:36So we'll do that, follow that with something similar with electricity bills.
00:40But in the end, what we have to do is also start to deal with some of the deep problems
00:45in the energy system.
00:46And that's what I also announced today, so that our overriding first priority as a government now will be cheaper
00:52energy in future with clean power.
00:56As a way of helping get that cheap power.
