London zoo animals enjoy spooky pumpkin buffet ahead of Halloween
Penguins, capybaras and gorillas tucked into a spooky feast at London Zoo on Thursday (October 29), as they got into the Halloween spirit.
Creepy carved pumpkins filled the animals’ enclosures, specially prepared by zookeepers as part of the seasonal activities.
The zoo’s colony of Humboldt penguins enjoyed a fishy breakfast served on pumpkin platters, while the capybaras had to track down their Halloween treats hidden amongst some carrots and greens.
Animal Operations Manager at London Zoo, Daniel Simmonds, said the seasonal enrichment activities are designed to encourage natural behaviours, including foraging and exploration.
