00:08So there aren't a lot of, it's a growing number, but I feel like there weren't always
00:11a lot of female DJs.
00:12How did you first get into the music business and how did you get interested in doing this?
00:16It all started because I'm the person that always has to have the aux cord and all my
00:20friends were calling me like aux cord lord and CJ the DJ.
00:24Aux cord lord is amazing.
00:25And so from there, I started making playlists and I made my name on SoundCloud, CJ the DJ.
00:30It was kind of a joke, but then everyone was like, wow, your plays are so good.
00:34They kept thinking I actually was a DJ.
00:36So all my DJ friends were like, oh, you should just learn because you find all these artists
00:40right when they're coming out and you have a great amazing music taste and a bass library
00:45and stuff like that.
00:45So I learned and then I kind of just took off from there.
00:48Yeah.
00:49So that's what I actually want to ask you about that.
00:51How do you stay inspired and how do you find these new artists before anyone else finds
00:55them or season to put them on your playlist?
00:57Well, because I travel a lot for work, I'm always in different places.
01:01So there's obviously different artists all over the world and there's people that are
01:04big in different places and I'm always Shazam-ing things.
01:07When I'm like at restaurants, clubs, like I have Shazam as like the main app that I use
01:11on my phone.
01:12I'm like getting songs all the time.
01:14That's good.
01:14And then all of my, yeah, all my DJ friends, they send me music and then a lot of times
01:18from one person being featured on a song, you can find them on other songs with different
01:21artists and like, it's just kind of one of those things.
01:23You stumble upon them.
01:25Yeah.
01:25Shazam.
01:26I'm going to use that now.
01:27That's going to be my go-to.
01:28So you've already worked with some amazing artists.
01:30Who would be your dream collaboration?
01:32Um, I really, really like Tame Impala's music and I always say that I'm like, I would love
01:37to do something with him, you know?
01:40So what song is currently just on repeat on your playlist right now?
01:44My Life by Tame Impala and Zoo.
01:46I'm like, wait, my actual until jeffries.
01:50Yes.
01:50I love that.
01:51Well, before we let you go, Janet Jackson is receiving the Icon Award tonight, which I'm
01:54so excited about.
01:55What's your, what's one of your all time favorite Janet Jackson songs?
01:58I'm the most indecisive person.
01:59And the fact that I had a number one song to tell you is impressive because I, I love
02:03all her stuff and I can never really choose.
02:05And like, it changes.
02:06I feel like one, like one second I like one thing and then the next I'm like, oh, I like
02:10this one right now.
02:10I relate to it more.
02:11So I was just like, love them all.
02:13That seems to be the sentiment with everyone who's coming here, they're like, I just can't
02:16choose.
02:16It's a hard decision to make.
02:17But last thing, what is next for you?
02:19I'm working on my EP, Calculated Luck.
02:22So yeah.
02:23So then we'll have a new single coming soon.
02:25Really excited about that.
02:26When can we expect that?

02:47Which was such a blast because not only is she a DJ, but she is an avid beauty person.

02:52And I think that really plays in.
02:54She really can connect to both worlds.
02:55And that's something as a beauty lover, I really appreciate.
