00:00I try and avoid ridiculous things, ridiculous things, but I can't control everything.
00:09I can't just put a blinder and not at least discuss something and not bring up the mere possibility.
00:18So many of you might know this guy, Chad Forbes, who I believe is based out of the Pacific Northwest.
00:26He runs a site or Twitter handle or whatever.
00:29I see it all over the place, especially during draft time.
00:32NFL draft bites.
00:36Now, I would caution you that I have seen plenty of erroneous speculation from him.
00:44And yeah, he's gotten a couple of things right.
00:49But he is a, what I would call, a guy that is trying to move the needle and trying to
01:00keep himself relevant in a flooded field of relevancy, right?
01:07It's a over-flooded field.
01:10So he wrote the other day on his Twitter account, the commanders are in a tough predicament.
01:18Jaden Daniels is due for a new contract in the offseason.
01:21The deal will be over $60 million per season and potentially suppress Mahomes as the league's highest player.
01:27He's played in just 11 out of the last 23 games.
01:32Do you at least listen if, and he floats out this scenario, the Minnesota Vikings offer 2027, 2028, and 2029
01:47first-round picks.
01:50The 6-0 Vikings, with the very pedestrian as of right now, and I don't think it'll change, but maybe
01:59it will get better.
02:00The very pedestrian Kyler Murray, having just blown a top-ten pick two years ago on J.J. McCarthy, who
02:09maybe has found a new home in New York.
02:11But he certainly didn't find it in Minnesota for various reasons.
02:16Kyler Murray is a pedestrian stop on the tour, right?
02:20He never was what a lot of you blowhards thought he was.
02:28I was the only one telling you, hey, man, this guy's not consistent.
02:33This guy's, he's a, Cliff hated him.
02:38Now, Steve Kahn, now, again, these aren't, like, pillars of society either, but they couldn't stand him, okay?
02:46Couldn't stand him.
02:48The regime that is partially still in Arizona now, Manny Asenfort, they embraced him.
02:55The former head coach, Jonathan Gannon, who's the Packers' defensive coordinator now, embraced him.
03:00And it worked at times, and it failed at times, and injuries, and so on.
03:04And we all know the diminutive size, the athleticism, the arm, but the accuracy, the consistency, the wear and tear,
03:13all that stuff on Kyler Murray.
03:16Safe to say everybody thinks that anybody that goes to Minnesota just automatically becomes great, because that's how the media
03:23shapes the narrative.
03:24Kevin O'Connell can work wonders with anybody, can make somebody turn from an elf into Santa Claus, okay?
03:33Which has never, ever, ever been true.
03:36All of you guys that think all of these head coaches and offensive play callers, Kyle Shanahan, Kevin O'Connell,
03:46Sean McVay, name your, Ben Johnson,
03:49that can turn every single guy from a puddle of poo into the king of the throne, the castle.
04:01All of you need to go and bury your head in the sand, and kick all the rocks.
04:07You suck, okay?
04:09It's never been true.
04:11It never will be true.
04:13It is not even close to reality, okay?
04:21So, that being said, Kyler Murray is not going, he's not like all hail the conquering Kyler Murray.
04:30No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
04:31He might get a little bit better, but he's not getting much better, and he's under a one-year deal.
04:37I'm sure Minnesota's going to move on, all right?
04:41Even though they're 6-0 and who knows how they finish.
04:44Their passing game stinks.
04:48Now, Chad Forbes, again, mentions, you know, Stopgap, this, a nicer version of what I just told you.
05:00So, this guy, PFT Commentator, that everybody loves, I don't know the guy, but I guess he's somebody that a
05:11lot of you guys like, okay?
05:15He said, quote, the tough predicament in response to this, in this case, is whether or not to trade the
05:22best quarterback your team has had in at least 35 years.
05:29No offense to Taylor Heineke, which I'm sure pissed Dr. Sabalov.
05:36So, we can go on and on and on.
05:38They talk about the contract, the record, what has happened since 2024, the injuries, all of that, where the Vikings
05:46are.
05:46I don't want to bore you guys with any details.
05:48But, the thing that I want to point out, and listen, there are all sorts of numbers and all sorts
05:58of machinations that you,
06:00Jaden Daniels is going to ask for, his mom is going to ask for, probably 65 million at least per
06:08year on an average annual value.
06:11We'll see where that number winds up, but you do not have to, have to, give Jaden Daniels a long
06:19-term contract this offseason.
06:21You can simply enact the fifth-year option, which would not be for next year, 2027, but it would be
06:27for 2028, lock him up for two more years at least.
06:30And then you can, of course, play the, how to screw a team and their salary cap up, like Bruce
06:38Allen did with Kirk Cousins, and put the franchise tag on them.
06:42Neither here nor there.
06:43But, like, Jaden Daniels is not probably going anywhere for the next two to three years, at minimum.
06:51All right?
06:52You do not have to do a long-term deal at the end of this year.
06:55You can, you don't have to.
06:57There's a difference.
07:00Spottrack released a list of next man up and all that stuff, contracts.
07:07He included Caleb Williams and Drake May as resetting the market for the quarterback position, but not Daniels.
07:20Here's the problem, and I've said this a couple of times.
07:25I can't remember if it was the old time slot or this current time slot.
07:29It was like in August, and maybe we were dealing with the Jaden Daniels LSU 5 thing.
07:35It's not just what Jaden does or doesn't do and what the commanders do and don't do this year.
07:41It's what does Caleb Williams and the Bears do?
07:44What does Drake May and the Patriots do?
07:48So, Spottrack is right on.
07:52Excuse me.
07:53The cost and the ability to get an extension is going to be a very, very, very tricky situation.
08:04You can't, if you're Josh Harrison and presumably Adam Peters, come in, waltz in, beat your chest, stand on a
08:13table and say,
08:13Hey, Jaden, we want to give you $72 million per year because we want to show you how much we
08:19love you and how much.
08:20No, no, no, no, no, no.
08:22There's a market.
08:24There's all sorts of extensions eligible going on.
08:29There's all sorts of factors.
08:32It is possible, very possible, that they do not get a long-term deal done this upcoming offseason.
08:40And it's maybe probable that they won't, depending on how this season finishes up, depending on, again, if and when
08:51the Bears, the Patriots,
08:53I guess you throw in Penix and the Falcons.
08:55I guess you throw in Bo Nix and the Broncos.
08:57You don't throw in, obviously, J.J. McCarthy.
09:00But you see what I'm saying?
09:01The market will be also shaped, in addition to how Jaden finishes up this year and how the Commanders finish
09:08up, by those four or five guys.
09:13One thing you do not do, in my opinion, and I think in any reasonable opinion,
09:20if a player, even though he is struggling to stay on the field, i.e. Jaden Daniels,
09:26and don't make any mistake that just because he's been back for two games, that we're out of the woods.
09:31That's dumb.
09:32We're not.
09:35But one thing that teams struggle with is, if you can identify that dude's a stud, he's a crown jewel,
09:44not the WWE pay-per-view in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which should be canceled.
09:50So, if that guy's a crown jewel, if that guy is a shining bright diamond,
09:57you do not trade him almost under any circumstances, especially at the quarterback position.
10:07I know Jeffrey Simmons just got traded today.
10:09I got it.
10:11There's a difference between defensive tackle and quarterback.
10:15If Jaden Daniels continues to play, not perfectly, but about and approximately how he has played
10:23for the most part in his first two and a half years, you do not ever trade him, period, for
10:30any return.
10:31And I think three first-round picks is the max that you can get.
10:35You don't even do that.
10:37Now, that doesn't mean that you throw $75-plus million per year at him.
10:42That doesn't mean that.
10:43But you do not trade him.
10:46At the quarterback spot, with his talent, with his ability, and you're not hoping when it comes to Jaden Daniels'
11:00production.
11:01You're hoping he stays healthy and on the field.
11:04But you know, for the most part, the dude's a stud.
11:10Not perfect, but the dude's a stud.
11:13You don't know that about, or you didn't know that, about J.J. McCarthy.
11:20I don't even know that for sure about Michael Penix, because A, he's got to stay on the field, and
11:24B, he's got to be consistent.
11:26I don't know that he, I don't know that about Bo Nix.
11:29I'm pretty sure I know it about Drake May, even though there's some up and down.
11:33And I'm pretty sure I know it about Caleb Williams.
11:36And I damn straight know it about Jaden Daniels.
11:39The commanders would be bleeping insane.
11:45Bleeping insane.
11:48To even consider trading Jaden Daniels.
11:53I don't care what the return is.
11:56I don't care what the return is.
11:59Three first-round picks.
12:02A new stadium.
12:04The NCAA Final Four, which they left the new RFK off of.
12:11WrestleMania.
12:17The Redskins' name back.
12:19All you crazy people wanting stripes and burgundy and gold, this and that.
12:25All the nuts that you drive me.
12:28Absolutely insane.
12:31No chance.
12:32None.
12:33At all.
12:34Do you trade Jaden Daniels?
12:37No chance.
12:40The only way, the only way, I could see trading Jaden Daniels at some point, is if he goes
12:49out on Sunday night, is lost for the year, and comes back whenever next year, and goes
12:57out for the year immediately, but then what are you going to trade him for?
13:02You might as well keep taking shots at the Apple, because you know the talent is there.
13:07You don't know what's in the Bo Nix box exactly.
13:13You don't know, I don't know, what's in the Michael Penix box exactly.
13:19I know what's in the Jaden Daniels box.
13:23Does that make sense?
13:25I think that makes sense, right?
13:28So, Chad Forbes can take his three first-round picks in Minnesota, and I see what he's trying
13:33to do, and I'm not going to bash him or whatever.
13:36The guy's trying to stay relevant, and he's giving some food for thought, and I like the
13:41creativity.
13:41I appreciate it.
13:44I think it's ridiculous, because if you're using common sense, you know what Jaden Daniels
13:51is as long as he's standing.
13:56I don't think that's that hard to figure out.
13:58Does anybody else?
13:59Does anybody disagree?
14:01Or would you consider something like that?
