00:02I think men are absolutely more empowered when it comes to finances. I don't think I saw my dad
00:09ever talk with me or any of my sisters about finances. He never talked with us about the
00:15bills or anything of that nature. My mom was never a part of those conversations. When we
00:19wanted something, we knew we had to go to him. And so because of that, I have a mindset of
00:24men
00:24taking care of things. So I think that gender roles in my childhood definitely played a big
00:29part in the way that we handled finances in my family. I definitely would not bring
00:33that into my own family when hopefully I have one, just because I have had the time
00:39to educate myself and I have been independent for all these years. My mom,
00:43she was never great with money. My dad was the breadwinner and so my mom kind of used
00:47whatever money he gave her. I think my dad was better with money along the my
00:54childhood just because like that was always his responsibility. My dad
00:58absolutely managed our finances. Every penny that went in and out of that house was
01:02at his discretion. I think that men are definitely taught more. Just I think it's
01:08instilled in them from a young age that they are the breadwinners, just the way
01:12that society was formed. But I think that we're doing a lot to change that and I
01:16want to see that continue.
