00:00Hey, I'm Sophia and I am doing the reverse contour challenge.
00:05Contour is a tool that people use to accentuate the highlights and shadows of your face.
00:09So you put darker makeup in the places where the shadows hit and lighter makeup in the
00:14places where the sun shines.
00:15It's really awesome.
00:16It's really dope.
00:17I can't do it.
00:18But reverse contouring is where you would put shadows where your highlight is supposed
00:24to be and highlight where your contour is supposed to be, which I already accidentally
00:30do because I'm just really bad at contouring, so this is going to be interesting.
00:35The reverse contour is something that people all over YouTube have been trying, just experimental
00:39to see what would happen.
00:40It doesn't always end up looking that great, but we thought we should try it out ourselves
00:43and see what would happen.
00:45It's obviously just for fun, just to look crazy, and I think that I will also look crazy.
00:53I'm going to start with the darker makeup on my cheekbones, which makes me nervous because
01:01I have, I don't have the most defined cheekbones, and the purpose of this is to really make
01:09your cheekbones pop out, and this, I don't feel like is going to do that.
01:14I don't know what any of these things do.
01:16Let's see, face round, that's exactly what my face is.
01:19Normally, I like to put lighter makeup under my eyes to hide the dark circles that I always
01:28have because I don't get enough sleep, but this is going to make them pop out.
01:33So I'm going to do contour first, maybe I should go with the darker one, I think it would be
01:40very extreme.
01:42Normally, you put highlight up on your forehead, so I'm just going to put dark makeup up here
01:48as well.
01:49You know when children eat chocolate and you're like, how did you get that everywhere on your
01:55face?
01:55This is what this looks like.
01:58I think I'm starting to look like an Oompa Loompa, or maybe like I belong in Cats the Musical.
02:05Yeah.
02:06Now, let's do the highlight where contour is supposed to be and hope for the best.
02:21Seriously.
02:23Normally you put the contour on the side of your nose to make it look smaller, but this
02:28is really taking it out.
02:31I feel like I'm Pinocchio, my nose is growing ten sizes.
02:34I think I had like a nightmare of this once, where my contour was bad.
02:38Oh look, it's in my hair now, but whatever.
02:41My hair is not my problem right now.
02:43It's getting the highlight all in my hair, turning gray.
02:48I look like I put my face in like a twirl ice cream and just came out.
02:56Like I look like I maybe belong in the Rugrats.
03:01Really mixing all those beautiful colors together to give myself the craziest looking face possible.
03:11So I'm going to blend this mask and pray and hope and wish that I look better.
03:24Okay.
03:25I think we're ready to buff it out.
03:28I'm going to use two brushes to blend it because these colors are very different.
03:39Let's buff it out people.
03:45The highlight at the top of my forehead is really making it look as large as possible.
03:51It's not doing me any favors, that's for sure.
03:54I kind of look like summer me who tried putting on winter me foundation.
04:06So like this looks like my summer skin.
04:09I got a nice tan.
04:11And then this looks like whoops I accidentally used the wrong foundation.
04:16So I mean it's not completely off but it is still because I'm not this red in the summer.
04:23It's certainly not as bad as it could be.
04:25I feel like I just look like I came back from a tropical vacation where I only sat in the
04:31sun from here up.
04:34Because you can definitely tell that this is not the makeup that is for my skin tone.
04:39You know how contour is supposed to make your face look more chiseled?
04:44I didn't think it was possible for my face to look flat.
04:48But my face looks very flat.
04:51I look like one of those renaissance paintings of like children.
04:57Look it up and then compare it.
05:00For those of you looking to try the reverse contour challenge, good luck to you.
05:06My advice would be I think that I maybe would try to put more highlight on to see if that
05:13would in any way accentuate my cheekbones.
05:16I think I blended it in a little bit too much at the end.
05:19If you're feeling inspired and want to see what you look like with reverse contour, I say go for it.
05:25But try not to schedule anything afterwards unless you have like really good makeup remover and free time.
05:34So I don't know if you can really win the reverse contour challenge, but I'm going to consider this a
05:40loss.
05:42But I did have a ton of fun and it really opened my eyes to the transformative power of makeup.
05:50Sometimes you can end up looking like a movie star and sometimes you can end up looking like this.
05:58So not totally going to recommend this in a practical sense, but if you're looking to have fun with makeup,
06:05definitely give it a try.
06:07So that's it for me. I'm going to go wash this makeup off.
06:10Thanks for watching and I'll see you next time.
