00:00How do you guys know when a crush is a little bit more and it's gonna be...
00:08Girl crushes. What even is that?
00:11Well, today we're gonna be trying to figure it out.
00:13I'm Wembley.
00:14I'm Laura.
00:15And I'm Hannah.
00:16So guys, what is a girl crush?
00:18Well, I think it's different for every single person.
00:22Like, I have girl crushes on people who I want to be.
00:26I want to be that person. I want their aura. I want their closet.
00:32I want everything about them.
00:34And then there are people where I have a girl crush on them and I'm like,
00:37Oh, we're getting married. That's it.
00:40We're gonna have two kids. They're gonna be super cool.
00:44Our kids are gonna be names Max and Dennis.
00:47And that's like it.
00:49What do you think?
00:51I would have to agree. I have girl crushes on people where I'm like,
00:54Oh, they're just so cute and I want to be them.
00:58I want to emulate like everything about them.
01:00But I think it's interesting that we call it a girl crush and it doesn't mean any kind of like
01:06romantic crush.
01:07That's what I was gonna say. I think that the way girl crushes talked about is that it's just someone
01:14that you're like,
01:15Oh my God, if I could trade places with anyone.
01:18Yeah.
01:18This is a person like I want your entire life down to your shoes in a non romantic sense.
01:25At least that's like I think the first layer of how it's perceived.
01:29Is there something actually like more romantic to this crush or is it again just something frivolous?
01:35Like how do you go through the process of figuring that out and what that means to you?
01:41I have to question that a lot of times with myself because I have always like,
01:44Okay, as a queer woman, do I just like think that person's like lipstick is like bomb?
01:50And like really want to like be able to wear that and like, God, they look super cool in that.
01:54Or am I just like, your lipstick is bomb. You're gonna look super hot. I cannot talk to you.
01:59Or am I in love with you?
02:00Or am I, it's like, there's a, there's a fine line honestly.
02:02For a lot of people, it's as simple as you know when you know when that crush is a little
02:09bit more than that.
02:11How do you guys know when it crushes a little bit more than that?
02:14Let us know in the comments. We'd love to hear because we're racking our brains over here trying to figure
02:18it out.
02:19So have you guys ever actually acted on one of your girl crushes?
02:25Yeah.
02:26Yeah?
02:27Tell us.
02:27Kind of, W.
02:28Oh.
02:29Kind of.
02:31I want to hear your story because you seem way blind, too.
02:35Yeah.
02:35You're blushing, do you need some wine?
02:40Long story short, I had met this girl one time and met up with her again for drinks, she had
02:47reached out to me.
02:49And because I did have this girl crush on her I felt super comfortable about it.
02:54But then I had way too much wine and I was a little bit drunk and I think entered into
02:58this territory
03:01where I
03:01Felt really nervous because it was this girl crush that was
03:05Stepping into a territory that I hadn't crossed into before where it kind of stemmed like from this place that
03:11was really pure and innocent
03:13but then it was
03:14There was more to it than that. It was more to it than just admiration
03:17I think it was the most in-depth girl crush that I've had to date. Yeah
03:21I don't think I've ever acted on any just because I'm I'm a pretty like shy person and even if
03:26it's just like
03:27Oh my god, you're so cool
03:28Like I think that I'm still like sometimes like not cool enough
03:31To meet someone but I have had people reach out to me and be like, oh my gosh
03:35I think you're so great
03:36I have a girl crush on you and we have had great interactions and great dialogue. I'm just like
03:41their interests and the things that they're passionate about and identity and and
03:46topics that I think are beneficial
03:49Um just to have a really open discourse about yeah, how do you guys feel though when girl crush is
03:56used to?
03:58Kind of diminish attraction or when people say oh like things like no homo like oh, you're so cool
04:04You're so cute like I love you
04:05But like no homo like I'm a cisgender heterosexual woman and I think that I
04:12used to use no homo when I was in high school and even into college and it was just because
04:17of a lack of
04:19Um understanding yeah, and I understand so deeply now why that's
04:25Inappropriate to say and I think it just takes people
04:28Understanding that there is so much like gender and sexuality fluidity in order to
04:34Not think that way and that's what's gonna break it down. That's what broke it down for me
04:38I understand where people like if it doesn't seem like it has weight or value to say something like that
04:44But when you are a person in the world who like may or may not be can like be seen
04:50as queer and you hear that and you're just sort of like
04:52That's my identity that you're devaluing and that my girl crushes are never going to seem
04:59When they are actually based in romance like they're never going to seem valid and it's this very
05:06Intense not well not intentioned internalized homophobia. That's what that is or at least my opinion of it
05:14Yeah, so I think we all can agree that girl crushes they can be super sweet simple small nothing serious
05:20but they can also be something that make us really explore who we are and
05:25Make us think about identity and all these kinds of things that are really worth searching within yourself
