00:00Hey guys, this is Nian, Beauty Writer at Friday 29, and this is Beauty in a Snap.
00:04So I have three co-workers here who each have very different skin tones, but one
00:08very common problem, which is the difficulty of finding foundations at
00:12the drugstore that match them. I got three foundations from the drugstore
00:15that I personally really like, that I think you might be familiar with, and I'm
00:19going to help my friends get color matched. We both know that it's really
00:24hard to find drugs or foundation that matches. What would you say is your
00:27like biggest problem? My biggest problem is that I'm pretty pale and sort of
00:31neutral toned, and I have a lot of trouble finding drugstore shades that
00:35match without being able to test them all. A lot of them turn out too yellow on me
00:39or just too dark. It's just a little bit too yellow or too pink, and it's like
00:43dries out my skin a lot. Especially being someone obviously with brown skin, the
00:47choices are just a little more limited. So when I'm going in, I'm having, you know,
00:50scour the shelves to look for something that'll match my skin tone, and you don't
00:54have the option to try on, which makes it even harder.
00:56I got a few foundations for you. So we have a warmer skin tone, but if you guys
01:02don't know how to figure it out, you can test it really easily, and I like to call
01:06it the vein test. Depending on what color your veins are, that will help you
01:10determine your undertone. So my veins are kind of bluish and greenish. If you have
01:15blue veins, it means that you kind of have a rosier, pinker undertone. If they're
01:20green, you have more of a yellow base undertone. If you have a mixture of the two,
01:24you have a more neutral skin tone, which means you can kind of get away with wearing
01:27either kind of foundation.
01:29Mine are definitely on the green side.
01:32So you definitely have more of a yellow undertone, so you might want to gravitate
01:35toward more yellow, less pink foundations.
01:38Right.
01:38You have a lot of green here as well. I think that you obviously know that you like yellow
01:43foundations already, so we should try to test these out.
01:48Let's start with the lightest one. This is Ivory.
01:50I think I'll go with the darker tone first. I think I can use some of these to sort of
01:54blend
01:54out and lighten them to match me.
01:56Yeah. So most people think that you can swatch your foundation on your hand and you're good to go.
02:01That's not always the case. You know, different colors of our skin on different parts of our body.
02:05So I always think that if you want to get a true face and neck match, you want to do
02:10it on your jawline here.
02:12Yes. Perfect. And then do it to the next foundation you have.
02:18And then you do it to the last foundation.
02:22So let's see if we blend them into your skin, what kind of effect that has.
02:26You're going to want to go with the foundation that just disappears into your skin.
02:31It looks like I don't even have any makeup on in this second one.
02:34Exactly. I think that might be the winner.
02:35I think that's the winner.
02:36The warm nude beige. I think this one's working best.
02:40It's blending in really nice and it's light.
02:42The other one was a little bit too Ivory and the other one was too dark.
02:45I think that beautifully bronze shade is a pretty good match for you.
02:48I think this is my match. I'm pretty excited about trying it out.
02:51I know. I'm excited to see what it looks like because it'll give us a better picture.
03:01How do you like it?
03:02I really like this because it's really lightweight.
03:05I've been using the same makeup since high school.
03:07And so it's kind of nice finding like a new foundation that's blending with my skin,
03:13feels light and not too heavy. What do you think?
03:16Nancy has amazing skin to begin with.
03:19Does she need foundation? No.
03:20Now that I have a drugstore brand that's a pretty perfect match, honestly,
03:25I think I could try doing drugstore foundations and concealers.
03:30It's sort of the one thing I've stayed away from in the drugstore realm where I love mascaras.
03:34It's really blending into your skin really well.
03:36What are your overall thoughts? Would you purchase this foundation?
03:39Yeah, I think it's a great substitute for what my higher end powder would be.
03:44It's definitely cost efficient. It's under 10 bucks.
03:47And what's so great about it being such an affordable foundation is you can buy a few
03:50and, you know, throughout the year if you need to color match, if you need to mix the foundations,
03:54it's really easy to. You can just put it on the back of your hand a few pumps.
03:57If you're feeling like it's a little bit too light or too dark,
03:59you can add a little bit more of the darker shade, the lighter shade.
04:01So it's really nice to be able to customize your foundation in a way that isn't going to like
04:05totally break the bank.
04:06Thanks so much for watching, guys.
04:08As you can see, there are many, many foundations at the drugstore
04:11and you can definitely find one that works for you through trial and error.
04:14See you next time.
