00:03Hell no, do I feel like I am represented in popular culture.
00:08Asia is a really big continent. I very rarely see people who look like me.
00:13If I'm represented, am I represented accurately?
00:16Do I see South Asians in media? Absolutely.
00:18Do I see a gay, first-generation Indian American in media? No.
00:21It is sort of a complex feeling to see a Chinese American household.
00:25When you grew up in a Japanese American household, it's a completely different experience.
00:30A lot of characters tend to focus on their Asian-ness.
00:34I love to see a Pakistani Muslim woman playing a character that isn't a terrorist.
00:39The Asian experience is so oftentimes mine for our art, and then we don't get the credit.
00:45Maybe the answer to fixing it is hiring actual Asians.
00:49It's about actually having us have the space and the resources that our white counterparts get
00:54in expressing our own culture. Because trust us, it's really cool. We know best.
00:58Usually fire.
00:58Harvest.
01:00Traveling halt.
