00:00Hey, I'm MeeAnne, and this is Beauty in a Snap.
00:03Usually when you guys see me, we're talking about crazy trends like glitter and rainbow
00:08and holographics, but today we're going to be talking about something that you might
00:12not see on top, but a lot of people do it.
00:15It's color correcting, and for those of you who might not know what color correcting is,
00:20it's using colors and color theory to cancel out any imperfections on your skin.
00:26You are going to be correcting colors with what's opposite on the color wheel.
00:30If you have blue tones in your eyes because you have under eye circles, you can use a red
00:35corrector to cancel that out before going over it with concealer or foundation.
00:40There are three different types of color correcting that we're going to be focusing on today.
00:44The first of which is dark circles, which can be corrected with a reddish or orange concealer.
00:49The second one is redness, which can be corrected with a green concealer.
00:54And the last one is dullness, which can be corrected by layering a purple concealer over top.
00:58I have three friends joining me today who each have their own skin concerns.
01:02Let's start with Camille.
01:03She tends to get dark circles under her eyes and a little bit of pigmentation on her upper
01:07lip, so that's where red or orange tinted concealer comes into play.
01:10Camille's using the red concealer under her eyes and on her upper lip.
01:16Then she's blended out with her ring finger.
01:19The warmth of her fingers is going to help distribute the product and blend it in much easier.
01:23You can also use a brush or sponge to do this.
01:28Dark pigmentation in terms of color correcting can be a little bit tricky depending on how
01:33deep your skin tone is.
01:35Camille has a deeper skin tone, so using a darker concealer that's orange or red works perfect for her.
01:41For someone who might have a paler complexion, something that's peach or bisque tone,
01:46so it still has those orange undertones, will do the job just as well.
01:50Next, Camille's going to go in with her foundation, which she's blending in with a flat top brush.
01:56As you can see, she didn't really need to go in with foundation to cover up the orange
02:00and reddish concealer because it blended in very nicely into her skin.
02:04However, depending on your skin tone and your complexion, if it is showing through,
02:08you can totally go over with more concealer or foundation as you see fit.
02:12To finish off the look, Camille's going in
02:14with a little bit of translucent setting powder to set her work.
02:17She's already beautiful, but now all her dark circles are concealed.
02:24Next up is Kayla, who says that she has redness all over her face,
02:28so she's going to go in for a less targeted approach,
02:31but focusing the green color around her nose and chin where she gets the most red.
02:36You can use as much or as little green concealer as you want, depending on how much redness you have.
02:42For someone like Kayla, though, who has redness all over,
02:44she uses the concealer all over her face to create an even layer of green before going in with foundation.
02:50There are a lot of reasons why you might have redness on your face.
02:54Oftentimes, it's caused by acne or inflammation.
02:57It can also be hereditary and based on what you eat, but it's really easy to cover up.
03:02Next up, Kayla goes in with her powder foundation to conceal the green that she put on her face.
03:11Kayla goes in with a stick concealer just to give a little bit more coverage to her problem areas
03:17over blemishes and different areas of hyperpigmentation.
03:20Now that Kayla has all her color corrector and her foundation on,
03:23you can't see any of her redness.
03:25She's created a perfect canvas for any other makeup she puts on top like bronzers or blushes.
03:31Next up, we have Sam, who claims that she has a dull complexion.
03:35She used a purple concealer on her T-zone, on her cheeks, on her chin,
03:40and generally in the center of her face where she wanted brightening,
03:43and then blended it out with a brush.
03:45The purpose of using purple concealer is to counteract any yellow tones in the skin,
03:50which can lead to sallowness or an overall dull complexion.
03:54Sam's going to go in with a purple concealer on her T-zone, on her cheeks,
03:59around her nose, and on her chin just to brighten up that area.
04:03She's going to go in with a very light layer of concealer,
04:06just to get any areas she might have missed with the foundation.
04:10Sam's base is totally even and brightened.
04:13It's the perfect foundation for anything she's going to put over top.
04:16So bronzers, blush, contour powders, highlighters, the works.
04:23And there you have it.
04:24Color correcting is so easy to do and it takes no time at all.
04:28I personally really like it because I think color correcting brings out the artist in me.
04:32It's just another fun way to play with color.
04:34I hope you guys like this video and I hope you guys try it at home.
04:37See you later. Bye!
