Transcript
00:00Hey everyone, it's me, Jen, and on this episode, we're heading to one of my favorite LA designers, Hell's Bells.
00:06She's been doing this for 10 years now. That's pretty insane.
00:09So let's go to the showroom, look at the new collection, and go meet her.
00:23So this is the lovely lawn, the brains behind Hell's Bells.
00:27So I've been to the showroom a couple of times, but you obviously haven't.
00:31So how about we give them a little tour?
00:33Yes, come on, let's go.
00:34So this is where a lot of the magic happens design-wise.
00:38I call this our inspiration design wall.
00:41Everything starts out from concept to initial sketches to CAD designing,
00:45and then we just put it up on the wall, and then add or subtract, whatever.
00:50This is that wall.
00:51And then my husband's desk over there, his name is Bam.
00:55And then we just have like all of our art around us, just to kind of inspire us.
00:59Here's some more collections.
01:00Oh, we did a collection with Hello Kitty.
01:02Look at that.
01:03That's amazing.
01:04I love Hello Kitty.
01:05I know.
01:06Who doesn't love Hello Kitty?
01:07I know.
01:07I think every Asian girl loves Hello Kitty.
01:09I know, it's like, it's like in our genes.
01:11Yeah, for sure.
01:13We have this vintage military wear that me and my husband, we like dug up at this warehouse.
01:18So basically, we pull these pieces because I want to kind of repurpose them.
01:24So I want to do like some more illustration work on the jackets, and then tailor it so it fits
01:30you and me, other than like a 50-year-old army dude.
01:35Yeah.
01:36Like, did you write this all yourself as well?
01:37So like, what is like the meaning behind all this like text?
01:41I mean, what we did was we did research on like old letters that people in the military
01:46had written to family members or whatever, and we just wrote different texts all over.
01:53That is so amazing.
01:54How do you think of this stuff?
01:56That's insane.
01:58So I hear that there's a new collection brewing up.
02:00Can you tell me the inspiration, the backstory behind that?
02:03We're about to drop Fall 2015, which is really exciting, and something about Hell's Bells
02:09is we always have some kind of music underlay in everything that we do, and I like to pull
02:14inspiration for music that I love, whether it be hip-hop, punk, and so forth.
02:18So for instance, we have like Destiny's Child and Escape and SWV, but it's in like
02:24punk-inspired typefaces.
02:26Mm-hmm.
02:26It's got the patches, and that's so punk.
02:29Yeah, it is, in a bomber silhouette.
02:31And then we have this graphic.
02:35So it's like our play on MTV, but it's Hell's TV, watch and learn.
02:40So we have a lot of other pieces, but I want to definitely get you in some pieces
02:43and see how you'll be able to rock it.
02:45Oh, yeah.
02:46Okay.
02:49Oh, yes.
02:50This, and then we'll put this on top.
02:52Bad girl.
02:53Oh, this is very, I'm stepping out of the box, y'all.
02:56Yes.
02:57This is going to be good.
03:13So there you have it, the Hell's Bells HQ.
03:15Thank you so much for the tour.
