00:00This is Meg.
00:02Meg has a lot of stuff.
00:05Old boyfriend's clothes.
00:07Ticket stubs.
00:08Postcards, letters.
00:10Clothes of mine that I no longer wear.
00:13I have a lot of knick-knacks.
00:15This tub of Vaseline, I've had this.
00:18Okay, expired in July of 2006.
00:22Old electronics.
00:23I have flip phones more than one, plural.
00:27Flip phones.
00:29Photos of people I don't know.
00:31Like seriously, photos of people I don't know.
00:34These are somebody else's cats.
00:35There are little markers in history.
00:38Cool, but the problem is I'm moving into a new apartment
00:41and I really just feel like this is a time
00:44to purge all these unnecessary possessions.
00:47It's a reflection of my brain.
00:50So if I'm scattered, my place is scattered
00:54and it's really easy to be scattered
00:57when there's so much stuff.
01:00I want to be light.
01:01I want to be able to move around.
01:03I don't want to be stuck in one spot.
01:06So sometimes I feel like there is a little bit of an emotional burden with these things.
01:10There's a weight to them.
01:12A physical, real weight and then an emotional weight to it too.
01:16So viewer, maybe you don't understand why someone would keep pictures of a stranger's
01:21cat in a pile of cabbage patch dolls.
01:23But just know that Meg loves these things.
01:26They're full of stories.
01:27My Elvis matches are in here and also my emergency cigarette.
01:32That cigarette's been sitting in there for a good year.
01:34These guys, these are not my teeth.
01:39They are the mold of my old coworker's teeth.
01:45I really like the idea that I just have his teeth in my room.
01:49I have 20-20 vision and I don't wear glasses.
01:52I think I bought these for a Halloween costume.
01:55This I got for my birthday from my ex-boyfriend.
01:59I knew he forgot my birthday and he basically told me a couple days after he gave it to me
02:18because it's on my shelf.
02:19The number one question is, why keep it?
02:22I'm looking forward to smashing it actually because I think it'll feel good.
02:26Do you want to smash it sooner rather than later?
02:28Like tonight?
02:31Sure.
02:32For...
02:33Sure.
02:43Okay, that's it.
02:49Okay, let's go.
02:53Was that cathartic?
02:55Yeah.
02:57I miss it, but not really.
03:00I think it's better right there than in my home.
03:06Smashing stuff is fun, but now it's time to get down to business.
03:11So I'm sort of getting rid of the excess as much as I can at the moment to sort of
03:16make
03:16myself grow and think about if I do really need that thing.
03:20It's a good time for reflection.
03:23I hate change.
03:24I hate change.
03:25But I know it's necessary.
03:26That's why you have to go through it, but man, tough sometimes.
03:32I hate change.
03:39Cut.
03:39I hate change.
