00:00It just doesn't make any sense. I don't understand what I'm supposed to do. I mean, isn't there some sort
00:10of button I can press?
00:16Or switch I can flick? Or knob I can turn or strings I can pull? I don't understand any of
00:26it.
00:28I don't know what I'm supposed to do to understand what I want.
00:33I mean, can't I send a letter to the universe or something?
00:42Dear universe, what the hell am I supposed to do with my life?
00:46Gee thanks, Tex.
00:58My parents are giving me to the end of the school year to decide what I want to do with
01:03my life.
01:07Tess, what are you doing on the floor?
01:11The food's on the table.
01:14It's gonna get cold so you better hurry up.
01:21Did you know that in 4 months, 6 days, 34 hours, 22 minutes, and 45 seconds I will graduate from
01:28high school?
01:29Do you know what that means?
01:32No, of course you don't. You're a dog.
01:40I currently visualize my predicament as a main road with many, many streets diverging from it.
01:46Kind of like veins, or tree branches, or spilt ink.
01:52I see myself standing in the middle of this road, and I see all these different paths my life can
01:58take.
01:59I can become a gardener, or a dog walker, a piano teacher, a painter, a graphic designer, a dancer, a
02:07librarian, a candlestick maker, and a baker, and a million other things, including things that I've never even heard of.
02:15There are unconventional jobs out there, and unconventional ways of living.
02:20How do I know which one to choose?
02:23I've bought all the books, and I've done all the research.
02:27I've talked to my parents, but how is anyone supposed to help me when they don't know what I'm thinking?
02:33Heck, I don't even know what I'm thinking.
02:36Lately, every night when I go to bed, and when I close my eyes, I see crazy colors dancing underneath
02:43my eyelids.
02:45They move in and out, up and down, and spin and crawl and grow, and then shrink and explode.
02:52They make just as much sense as my life does right now.
02:57Sometimes I hope the answers will come to me in my dreams, but so far I've had no luck.
03:06So what's the matter?
03:08You know what it is, Joan.
03:10Still? Seriously? You still don't know what to do?
03:14It's easy for Joan to say. She's got everything figured out.
03:19She's going to study history at a prestigious university and study really hard.
03:24She's going to be the top of her class, graduate with honors, and she'll go on to do great things.
03:31What do your parents think?
03:34I don't know, the same thing. They're leaving it all up to me.
03:38Well, what if you take a step back?
03:40What do you mean?
03:41Well, you can't see the forest for the trees, so sometimes you just have to stop and not think about
03:46it too much.
03:47Yeah, but if I don't think about it, how am I supposed to know what to do?
03:51Well, not everyone has their life planned out.
03:53Yeah, about anything planned out. It's like each path looks just as appealing as the next.
04:01I feel as though if I go down one road, the streetlights on the other will burn out.
04:06So as I stand here, unable to choose left or right, the hours in the day become fewer, and all
04:13the roads become dark.
04:15So now I'm stuck in the middle of this empty path, in the dark, hoping the lights will reappear.
04:21So let's see you later.
