00:05As a woman in music you kind of have different sort of responsibilities
00:11whether or not you want them or not but at least for me I always try to be the
00:15best musician that I can be. When you're doing the most that you can you can't be
00:19like what do people think of me because you're doing the absolute best you can.
00:37We mostly hang out in Jacob's basement because that's where we practice.
00:43We have to go in through the garage because I lost my house key. We just don't
00:47have anything going on. We pretty much practice like every day.
00:54Me and Nick met each other in our junior year of high school when I
00:59filled in on drums in his other band and then we met Julia around that time too.
01:04Just like playing shows in Brooklyn and the city. Then all became friends.
01:09Yeah.
01:18I started going to shows in the city around 14.
01:21Yeah we were going back and forth a lot.
01:24Yeah.
01:24Taking a train. I don't think we really like discussed what we wanted the band to sound like.
01:29We just kind of like got down to the basement and just started playing.
01:34You know and it just kind of came together.
01:41Comes down to like just how good they are and that's because they practice all the time and they're really
01:46hard working.
01:49This is the new thing we've been doing which is like making our own jackets and stuff.
01:54Nick made these actually. Want to show them?
01:56Yeah.
01:56This jacket we got, we thrifted it and it's cool because it has its own like embroidery.
02:01If you order any one of our t-shirts we still like write handwritten notes to everybody.
02:05And this is one flower from our album cover.
02:09With every purchase of personal merch.
02:20The record is different than anything we've done before.
02:23So I think it's a, it's right now it would be too hard to describe but it's a.
02:27Sounds like sunflower bean.
02:29Yeah it sounds like sunflower bean.
02:30There it is.
02:32There's a record.
02:33Time to smash it.
02:35Yeah my parents have this on the mantel.
02:51It is weird to be in a different place every night.
02:53It's hard to make a routine.
02:55But we've been on tour for so long it's kind of hard because it all feels kind of like second
03:00nature now.
03:01But yeah I'm excited, I'm excited to dance and push some kids around and have some fun.
03:06Joy's ready to break some heads.
03:09Joy's ready to break some heads.
03:10Joy's ready to break some heads.
03:11Sometimes when girls or boys come up to me after the set and say like,
03:17Oh you know you make me want to play bass or you make me want to pick up my bass
03:21again.
03:22You really inspire, you inspire us to try to do something.
03:26I think that's the best feeling for me and I think for them too.
03:29You know their first show was like to 50 people in like a really small bar in Brooklyn.
03:35And then to see them, they've played like huge stages with 5,000 people.
03:39And it's just like, I have moments where I'm just like so utterly proud of what they're doing.
03:48I don't know if we've made it or I think that means something different to everyone.
03:52But I think that you know we've definitely had a lot of really cool special moments that we're really grateful
03:56for.
03:57We were in Europe and the UK when the album came out.
04:00It's really exciting.
04:02I think it means that you know no matter what happens we'll always, always have that.
04:07We put an album out.
04:09That's really cool.
04:12It's feel this much like the output from many sanglers to all, maybe it's something different to me and it's
04:13probably not even true.
04:13I'm going to pray for it.
04:14I bet he when thewand Youth probably is not something that came out.
04:15You
