00:00Hey guys, it's me Anne and this is Beauty With Me.
00:02A few months ago, I did a photoshoot for Refinery29.com where we pitted high-end makeup against drugstore
00:08makeup.
00:09Now, one of the critiques we got was that we didn't show the makeup at the end of the
00:13day, aka after a couple hours of wear.
00:15So I decided to rectify that by doing the challenge on my own face.
00:20So you spoke, I heard, I'm going to do high-end makeup on the left side of my face, drugstore
00:25makeup on the right side of my face, and you're going to come with me as I test it out
00:28throughout
00:28the day.
00:29Alright, so let's get started, say hi!
00:31So first things first foundation, I'm going to use Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude, the lighter
00:37version of their classic double wear foundation.
00:40It's supposed to last for a very long time on my face.
00:45I like this, it's very lightweight, it doesn't really feel like I'm putting a lot of makeup
00:52on.
00:52So the one little pitfall of this is that if you're looking for a full coverage face, this
00:57is definitely not the foundation for you.
00:58So that's the first foundation down.
01:01Going to move on to the next foundation, which is Revlon Colorstay, a classic drugstore find.
01:10So right off the bat, I'm noticing a few things.
01:13The Revlon Colorstay side has a little more coverage than the Estee Lauder Nude does.
01:19I'm excited to see how it wears though, because both of these foundations are supposed to last
01:23for a really long time.
01:25So next up, I'm going to go in with some high-end bronzer on this left side of my face.
01:29I'm going to use NARS Laguna.
01:31It's a beautiful matte bronzer, it's a very nice color.
01:35It's really kind of melding with my skin well, so it doesn't look powdery, which I like.
01:43It's definitely a look that I do a lot.
01:45On the other side of my face, I'm going to use the Drugstore Bronzer, which is this bronzer
01:49from Covergirl.
01:50It's called the True Blend Bronzer.
01:52So, what I love about this bronzer is it has this really nice, like, chocolatey bronze
01:57coloring, and just a little bit of, like, iridescence, like, running through it.
02:02I like the way that it applies, it applies very smoothly, it's really easy to build it
02:07up to, which is very nice as well.
02:10So to finish off the rest of the face, I'm going to do highlighter, one of my favorite
02:15parts of any makeup look.
02:17This is a brand new highlighter from Charlotte Tilbury.
02:20It's called the Beauty Light Wand.
02:22It's cream.
02:23It comes out through this cute little sponge that's really soft.
02:27So beautiful.
02:29I'm going to put it directly onto my face.
02:31I think I'm just going to stamp it because I don't want it to be too intense on the offset
02:34tapped into my cheekbones.
02:37This is the NYX Away We Glow Liquid Highlighter, and what I'm really excited about for this is
02:42it's pretty much an exact match for the color of the Charlotte Tilbury highlighter.
02:48So right off the bat, the texture of this NYX one is a lot less emollient than the Charlotte
02:56Tilbury one, and by that I mean it doesn't have as much, like, slip to it.
03:00I'm going to do eyeshadow next.
03:02The high-end palette that I'm going to use today is actually one by my girl Kylie Jenner.
03:08It has a lot of really beautiful warm shades in it.
03:13I'm going to go in with a little bit mixing orange shade with this kind of mid-tone brown.
03:20So I really like these eyeshadows.
03:24It's like a good amount.
03:25It's nice and buildable.
03:26I'm going to use this cream shade now, just on top of the lid a little bit, do a little
03:33bit of highlight situation.
03:34So because I'm going to use a little bit of eyeliner on my bottom lash line, I find that
03:39that can tend to close your eye a lot.
03:41So I like to counteract that by putting a little bit of color on the top lash line just
03:46to open things up.
03:47Dip into this brown shade and a little bit of the black.
03:51And I'm going to very lightly line my eyes.
03:57There you go.
03:57So that's the Kylie palette on my left eye.
04:01Kylie did a good job on this one.
04:03I like it.
04:03I really like it.
04:05On the drugstore side, I'm using this palette from e.l.f.
04:08It is a beautiful matte palette, a ton of really nice warm brown shades.
04:14And I'm going to mix this warm shade with this mid-tone brown.
04:20I will say that this is my better eye.
04:22Does anyone else have that where your eyelid just folds better on one eye?
04:27It's this eye for me.
04:28I'm going to do the same liner situation using the kind of chocolate brown shade in the palette
04:34and the black.
04:37Shadow done.
04:39Now I'm going to do my eyeliner, which is going to be really fun because I have some
04:44really beautiful shades.
04:46So this is MAC Cyan.
04:48I have been lusting after this pencil for months.
04:52I mean, look at this.
04:54It's so nice.
04:56I'm going to put this on my lower lash line.
05:01It goes on really smoothly.
05:03It's really pigmented too.
05:07I knew I was going to love it.
05:09I'm going to move on to the drugstore side and I'm using this one from Rimmel.
05:13It's called the Scandalized Waterproof Liner.
05:14It's in the shade Turquoise.
05:16It's not as bright as cyan, I must admit.
05:19Alright, so this one goes on pretty smoothly as well.
05:23The MAC side is much brighter, whereas the Rimmel side is a little more subdued.
05:28But I will say that if I were to just glance at the makeup, I don't think that it would
05:33be, I wouldn't be like, oh my gosh, you're wearing two different color liners.
05:38Onto mascara.
05:39I'm very picky about mascara, so we'll see.
05:42This is the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara in the waterproof version because I pretty much
05:46only wear waterproof mascara and it has a really big wand, so it's very good for volumizing.
05:54It holds a curl really well.
05:56Do you see this difference between this eye and this eye right now?
06:00I have very short, thin eyelashes and this really beefed up my eyelashes here.
06:05So the drugstore mascara that I chose is L'Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise and I chose it because
06:10it actually has a really similar, very wide brush.
06:14This mascara is also pretty volumizing, it's holding a curl pretty well as well, but they're
06:20definitely different.
06:21I would say that the Too Faced Better Than Sex is a lot more dramatic, whereas the L'Oreal
06:26is a little more subtle.
06:27So, alright guys, we're in the home stretch, the final step, which is lips.
06:32My opinion, the topper to any makeup look.
06:35On the high end side, I'm going to be using this liquid lipstick from Huda Beauty, it's
06:39in the shade Heartbreaker.
06:40I really like the way this is going on just because it feels almost like it's so wet in
06:45texture, so it's almost like it's going on as like a lip tattoo kind of thing.
06:51Alright.
06:53Should I go out like this?
06:55Next up on the other side of my mouth, I'm going to use this liquid lipstick from Maybelline
07:01and it's called the Superstay Matte Ink.
07:03It's brand new, I've never tried it but my editor has and she says it lasts like forever.
07:09Also, that it's really hard to take off.
07:13The applicator, I really like.
07:16I think I like it more than the Huda one.
07:18It's just, it has a nice taper at the top so you can use the top as almost a lip
07:22liner
07:22pencil.
07:24All right, this is the finished look.
07:28So it's around 8.30 in the morning now, I did wake up a little earlier to do this look
07:32because I'm going to bike to work today to test out the makeup.

07:46It's pretty hot, I'm pretty sweaty but the foundation still, from what I can see, looks
07:51like it's intact.
07:54Not looking very clumpy yet, the lipstick looks good.

08:17I would say this is pretty good considering I was profusely sweating and it was really hot
08:21and really humid.
08:22So I made it on the other side, I'm in the office now.

09:53I've been wearing this makeup for 10 hours now.
09:56I think that both sides lasted ridiculously well.
10:00First things first, foundation.
10:02They both look great.
10:04No complaints.
10:05Next up, bronzer.
10:07They're both still on, but I think as it wore, they started to look exactly the same.
10:11I feel like this is going to be a whole video of me not being able to tell the difference
10:15between both sides, but that's not a bad thing.
10:18It's kind of a good thing.
10:19Highlighter-wise, I see it more on this side, but again, just like very subtle differences.
10:24Onto the eyes.
10:26Eyeshadow.
10:27The Kylie side is creasing a little bit right here.
10:30And the Elf side is creasing a little less, so go Elf.
10:34And on to the liner.
10:36So, y'all know that I was really excited about this MAC liner.
10:39I definitely think that this would be a really good alternative if you don't want to splash
10:43out like, I don't know, $16 for the MAC version.
10:46Mascara-wise, I do like the effect of the Too Faced a lot.
10:50Although, I mean, if you didn't know that I was wearing two different kinds of mascara,
10:53you would literally think I just put the same one on both my eyelashes.
10:56Last, but certainly not least, the lipstick.
10:59And the lipstick, I feel like, really went through a lot today.
11:01And I'll be honest, in terms of a long wear lipstick, Maybelline held its own a little longer.
11:08This makeup lasted through biking over the Brooklyn Bridge, eating pizza, greasy pizza with Lucy,
11:16walking around while I was doing work.
11:17I think it was pretty 50-50.
11:19No complaints.
