00:00Donald Trump and Republicans know that they will be held accountable, and the people will have spoken to bring that

00:09So I just want to leave this impression with you as I call out Abdul to come out.
00:14You're working hard. You're going to get out there. You're going to knock doors. You're going to talk to your
00:17friends and neighbors.
00:18We're going to run through the tape. I think, you know, things don't believe anything you're hearing out there.
00:24It is close, certainly. And I say part of the reason I know it's close, I was just talking to
00:29Abdul.
00:30It is the ugliness of what the Republicans are doing. Let's be clear. It is despicable the way they're running
00:37their campaign.
00:38It has no place in an American democracy to try to tear down somebody with lies.
00:43We are better than that as a country. We are better than that.
00:47We believe that America is stronger when we are united, when we stand together.
00:53We are stronger when we believe everybody has a chance to have a voice and to represent this great country.
00:59My mother was an immigrant. She came to this country, married my father.
01:04My father, we trace back those roots, actually, to the Revolutionary War.
01:09My forefather was with George Washington at Valley Forge.
01:13My mother is an immigrant, and I said, that is America.
01:16I am proud to be the son of an immigrant and the son of the American Revolutionary War.
01:20That is America. That is what makes this country strong.
01:25It always has made our country strong.
01:29So, as you are out there, as you are out there knocking and putting your heart and your soul into
01:35this race,
01:36for Jim and all of the whole Democratic ticket, and Jocelyn Benson, and all the amazing folks.
01:41I am just so happy to be here with Abdul.
01:45You know, I've had the privilege of representing Michigan in Congress for 18 years,
01:51which has been the honor of my life to do that.
01:56And I decided two years ago, you know, the reason I'm not running is that I thought back of our
02:03founders,
02:03the folks who put this amazing constitutional republic together for us,
02:07and they believe members of Congress should go and serve in Congress
02:13and then go back to their private life, not stay their whole life.
02:19So that's what I'm doing. I went to their private life.
02:22But the reason I thought it was a good time is because of two things.
02:25One, we have an amazing bench of great young Democrats in this state.
02:30We want to make sure that they have an opportunity to serve and to represent everybody in this amazing place.
02:40And I'm particularly excited right now to be supporting one of those great candidates
02:45who will be the next senator.
