00:00Football is in the air, and football is about to start.
00:03So you're probably hearing about fantasy football
00:06everywhere you go, which can be super annoying,
00:08but let's make it something fun.
00:10I'm Rachel Besser, and this is Fantasy My Way.
00:19For those of you who play fantasy,
00:21you already know how fun this is.
00:23For those of you who don't,
00:24it's your chance to get in on the goods.
00:27You can win money.
00:29You can bond with your friends.
00:31And you don't even have to have a favorite player
00:33or team in order to be good at this.
00:36So every single week, I'm gonna be breaking it down right here.
00:40So you should probably get to know me.
00:43I'm the fashion market editor at Refinery29,
00:45which means that I'm in charge of trend reporting,
00:48and I write fashion articles.
00:50But I'm also a gigantic sports fan.
00:53My earliest memory is of my dad driving me from Chicago
00:57to Lambeau Field and placing that glorious cheese hat on my head,
01:04and it was game over.
01:05Yes, that's right.
01:06A Chicago girl is a gigantic Packers fan.
01:09Go Pack Go! Go Pack Go!
01:12Fantasy football is an online game.
01:14You and about 10 or so of your friends, acquaintances.
01:18It doesn't really matter because they're all going to lose anyway.
01:21Get together and draft players from across the league, different teams.
01:25So your team is comprised of quarterback, wide receiver, running back, tight ends, defense,
01:33a kicker, and a flex position, which can be a wide receiver, a running back, or a tight end.
01:40And I know that sounds confusing, but I swear to you, this is not complicated at all.
01:44Week to week, your player's performance on the field translates to points for your team.
01:49Most points wins, and that is essentially fantasy. It's that easy.
01:53This year, I'm playing in the Refinery29 Fantasy League.
01:57T minus 10. Wish me luck.
01:59Five minutes, people.
02:00Though I prepped, I really prepped, I got a big fat zero in terms of Packers players,
02:07which is quite a shame since I'm such a fan.
02:11So, I don't want this to happen to you.
02:13I'm going to give you some hot, fiery tips to make your draft magnifique.
02:19My draft strategy, tip one, is to go wide receiver in the first round and wide receiver
02:24in the second round.
02:25I think a lot of people go for a running back first, but especially in this climate where
02:30you have Antonio Brown and Odell Beckham Jr., it really primes you to take the wide receivers.
02:35And this is how I have won my cold, hard cash.
02:39Tip two is when to pick the quarterback.
02:41A lot of people will go round three or four to get your top tier quarterbacks like Cam Newton
02:46or Aaron Rodgers, which is amazing, but I think you can still win and have a solid team
02:52if you wait to round seven, which I did, and got like a Carson Palmer, who's on my team.
02:58You know, he's solid, and I think that there are other players similar to him, like an Eli
03:03Manning, maybe a Kirk Cousins, or Phillip Rivers, and you still have the potential to win without
03:08losing a high draft pick.
03:09Tip three is the sleeper team, the Jaguars.
03:13They weren't that good last year. They went 5-11, which is brutal, but for a fantasy owner, solid.
03:19They did a lot of work.
03:20Their offense put up a lot of points last year, mostly because their pass game was strong.
03:25Bortles and his wide receivers really did work.
03:28Now with new running backs, things are going to kind of shake up, but I will say that they're still
03:33a very solid, strong bench pick.
03:36So those were my fantasy draft tips.
03:39The season kicks off on Thursday, so get out there, go draft, and when in doubt, go auto-draft.
03:45Why not?
03:46All right, everyone, good luck.
03:48And uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh.
03:51I'm sorry.
03:51I'm sorry.
03:52I'm sorry.
03:52I'm sorry.
03:52I'm sorry.
03:52I'm sorry.
03:52I'm sorry.
