00:00Hey, what's up guys? It's Emily Curl here with Refinery29, and I'm so excited because today we're doing a makeup
00:05tutorial based on my girl, Demi Lovato,
00:08which is very fitting because probably once a day someone tells me she's my celebrity doppelganger.
00:13So as you can imagine, I'm always getting inspired by her beauty looks.
00:16She's not afraid to go bold, but she's also not afraid to go barefaced,
00:20and she's known for doing a few no makeup selfies on Instagram.
00:24But when she does wear makeup, it's all about super dewy skin,
00:27a lot of highlight, really glowy, bold, full brows, she likes a nice natural eye, and just a softer look.
00:34So to kick us off, I'm going to start with a little oil and moisturizer.
00:38So I have pretty dry skin, so I like to keep my skin looking pretty fresh,
00:43and it's able to take in a lot of foundation.
00:45When I just do a couple drops of oil just to get my skin ready to go.
00:48It's important not to go too heavy on this because it can make your skin oily,
00:52but it's always nice for me since my skin's a little dry.
00:54All right, next up, I'm just going to add some face moisturizer.
00:56You can plug in your favorite here, whatever works best for you.
00:59I'm going to use Origins and just put a little bit on to mix with my oil.
01:03Give it a second to set in so it really can soak it up, and I'm going to start with
01:07my brows.
01:07I'm going to start by using just a Revlon pencil, drugstore product, super affordable.
01:12And what I'm going to do is brush down my hairs so I can really get that shape in nicely.
01:17And you can see it a little bit more whenever you have your hairs brushed down.
01:20And I'm going to fill in and then just brush in that color.
01:22All right, and to seal in these bold brows, I'm going to use a little brow gel.
01:28So this is Elizabeth Mott, Queen of the Fill, came in my Birchbox, and I absolutely love it.
01:35All right, next up, since I'm trying to get that demi-worthy selfie,
01:39I'm going to use Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer.
01:42This is going to give me just a bit more coverage but also just provide that little extra glow.
01:48And now I'm going to use this Too Faced Pore and the Suede Foundation.
01:52A great foundation, super light coverage, and it also makes my skin still feel and look like skin.
01:58We have our foundation down, we have our prep down.
02:01Now I'm just going to add in a touch of concealer.
02:04Glossier has the best concealer in my mind.
02:07It's super light and it goes on just heavy enough where you feel like you have that little bit of
02:11extra coverage.
02:12So I know it probably looks a little oily and a little shiny, but I'm going to add some matte
02:17powder at the ends
02:17right in my T's on where I think I need it so I still can keep that dew on the
02:21rest of my skin.
02:22I'm going to give my foundation a break for just a second and go ahead and move on to my
02:25eyes.
02:26One product I've been loving lately is this Vapor eyeshadow primer.
02:29It's amazing, the consistency is great.
02:32I wasn't a big primer gal to begin with, but lately I've been using a ton of it.
02:37One thing I love about demi is she always goes for like super soft browns when she's doing her natural
02:41look.
02:42So much so that you're like, is she wearing eye makeup?
02:44Is she not?
02:45Or does she just like naturally look like that?
02:47I'm going to use my Smashbox palette and this is going to give you those neutral matte looks.
02:50What I'm going to do next is take my Urban Decay Waterline pencil.
02:55It's a super dark color.
02:57And I'm just going to do the very top of my eyes to add some added dimension before I put
03:02on mascara and a natural liner.
03:03Next up I'm going to use Kat Von D liner to just make a small little line right along the
03:09top just to punch up my eyes a touch more.
03:12It's gel liner and it's super easy to use.
03:14So I'm going to layer up two mascaras to really get that full lash effect.
03:18And I'm going to start by curling my lashes just to give them a little something extra.
03:23I'm going to start with Beauty Pie as my first mascara.
03:25I'm not kidding guys.
03:27This is one of my absolute favorite mascaras I've ever had.
03:29It grips the lashes from the bottom and just pulls them right up.
03:34So to make my lashes even clumpier, I'm going to use this Stila Huge Mascara.
03:40It's amazing.
03:41It truly does look like you're wearing fake lashes sometimes.
03:47Cool.
03:48Alright, so we have our eyes done.
03:50Next up I'm going to start by just adding a bit more warmth to my cheeks.
03:53So again, I'm going to use Too Faced.
03:56And they have this really, really nice matte bronzer.
03:58And to keep that demi glow, I'm going to use this Milk Makeup Holographic Stick.
04:05This is amazing.
04:06You can use it literally anywhere.
04:07And I'm just going to apply it as a highlighter.
04:10I have a lot of highlighter on right now.
04:12But if I want to go a little rosy, I'll use this palette by Huda Beauty.
04:16And there's this amazing rose color right here.
04:20Since I'm still feeling a little hot in my T-Zones right here,
04:24I'm going to use this Laura Mercier Setting Powder.
04:27And this will just take away that shine.
04:28And I'm only going to put it where I really need it
04:30because I still want to keep that dewy glow on the rest of my skin.
04:33To finish Lookout, I'm just going to do two more quick things.
04:36One, apply Lip Color and two, add a gloss on top.
04:39So I'm just going to use just your basic neutral color.
04:43And I'm going to line my full lips and then color it in with this.
