00:02A lot of people who don't believe in God may tell you that religion is a crutch, and in all
00:08honesty, it is.
00:09It is! That's what you get through life. You have something to get you through that next step.
00:14When you face reality, you recognize that things are not how you expect them to be.
00:21We need something to carry us on through those difficult times, and that's what my faith has done for me.
00:30They're interchangeable. I would say Mormon is a nickname for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
00:37Saints,
00:37and LDS is just that, those final three initials of the church.
00:45The temple garment is worn at all times, basically 24-7.
00:50You'll often notice that members of the Mormon faith wear sleeves and wear longer shorts, and that's just to cover
00:57those garments.
00:57Wearing temple garments is an honor. Many religions all over the world have adornments that they utilize as symbols that
01:03help them draw closer to their God.
01:05It's an outward manifestation of our inner commitment to the promises that we have made with God inside the temple.
01:14A ceremony of marriage in a Mormon temple is a very beautiful and sacred event.
01:21It's a goal that you have from the time you're like five, to go to the temple and get married.
01:26We believe that when you're sealed, when you get married in the temple, husband and wife are together forever, for
01:33all of eternity.
01:34That's the reason that we get married inside the temple instead of in a church, is so that we can
01:39have that promise of being married beyond this life.
01:43We're starting this for a long time, and for our generations to continue that, hopefully to choose that, that they
01:51want to be together with us for beyond this life as well.
01:58The couple kneel at both sides of the altar, and they put their hands together.
02:03Specific words are said that bond that couple together for eternity.
02:08After the couple has been sealed, the sealer will ask them to stand up, and there are mirrors on opposite
02:14sides of the wall.
02:15And so you have this eternal reflection.
02:17It's a symbol of looking into your future and all of your posterity, all your children and their children, and
02:24then also looking to your ancestors and all the people that have come before you.
02:31Divorce is possible. It's discouraged. It's unfortunate, but it's understandable.
02:35People struggle through a variety of different challenges in their lifetime, but we seek to be understanding and kind.
02:41I don't know how I would consider doing the marriage thing without knowing that God was going to help us.
