00:16Boris and Horton is New York's first dog-friendly coffee shop. So we worked within the Department of Health guidelines
00:21to provide a place where you can actually eat and drink with your dog beside you.
00:40Boris and Horton came to life because my dad and I are both huge coffee drinkers and we love our
00:46dogs and we would go walk around and go get coffee and one of us had to stand on the
00:50sidewalk with the dogs while the other person went in to get coffee and so we wanted to come up
00:55with a solution for that.
00:56We figured that there might be a way to sort of integrate food and drink with hanging out with your
01:01dog and it turned out that there was.
01:38It's become a haven for people who can't have a dog but want to be amongst them. So we get
01:43a lot of groups of people that come in and just want to pet dogs. Everyone's really nice about it.
01:48So as long as you ask nicely, I haven't had anyone turn down the opportunity to have their dog be
01:53pat or given a treat.
02:07This is Horton. He's one half of Boris and Horton and he's an eight-year-old Terrier mix. He was
02:12rescued from Houston, Texas and I call him a grumpy old man. He's always barking when people come in and
02:18then he's super friendly when they actually come through the door.
02:37Rescue is a big passion of ours so we are very excited to be able to welcome different rescues into
02:42the space for adoption events. So it's a great opportunity for people who maybe love dogs but they can't have
02:48one to come and just hang out and pet dogs.
02:50Or for people who are looking for a dog to kind of see how they would be in a super
02:55social environment.
