00:00With my glasses on my nose like this,
00:01I kind of feel like an old-time innkeeper or something.
00:05There's like an old lady like, ye olde spinach dip.
00:07Hi, I'm Wendy, and this is My Kitchen Sink.
00:10Today I'm making my favorite dip recipes.
00:12I'll be making a spinach dip, an artichoke dip,
00:14and a seven-layer dip.
00:16I got most of my ingredients from Target,
00:18and I spent a little under $50.
00:22Cooking time!
00:23The spinach dip is 100% my favorite.
00:25It won me an award one time.
00:26It's literally the printed recipe
00:28on the back of the dried soup.
00:30I got all three of these recipes from my mom, Heidi Steiner.
00:33I feel like my mom is a super natural cooking icon lady.
00:38My mom was like one of those ladies
00:39who would put a chopstick in her bun,
00:41just like get her hands dirty in the kitchen,
00:43and be like, whatever happens,
00:45like it's gonna be a beautiful gift
00:46from like the bounty of earth kind of mentality.
00:50My kitchen has a lot of duplicate things.
00:52Like we have two can openers.
00:54We had two Instant Pots for a little while
00:56because I live with two other dudes.
00:58My favorite part of my kitchen right now is my dishwasher.
01:02I think I love it just because I know
01:03so many people in New York don't have one,
01:05so I'm like grateful for it every time I use it.
01:07My dream kitchen would have Chris Pratt in it.
01:13No, I think it would have like one of those sexy islands
01:16with like the marble top and be very clean and minimalist,
01:21not like my current kitchen.
01:24I feel like my lack of chef technique
01:26is gonna show the most with cutting the water chestnuts.
01:31I'm gonna do like a loose squish of this.
01:33That cannot be the culinary term,
01:36but to kind of get all the ice water out.
01:38So you kind of end up with like a spinach meatball.
01:45I'm gonna cover this and let it chill in the fridge.
01:48Okay, so I'm gonna make the Red Bull now,
01:49which is honestly my favorite part.
01:54Now I'm gonna make hot artichoke dip.
01:56This one also has a lot of mayo,
01:58but I don't actually remember exactly how much.
02:01I was really sure there was mayo in this recipe,
02:04and there's not, so I have to put this away in shame
02:06and bring out sour cream now.
02:08Ooh, baby.
02:15I've made this one with like company over,
02:17and they're sort of looking at me like,
02:18that's not gonna taste good.
02:20And I'm like, you know what?
02:21Get out of my house.
02:25Now I'm gonna start making the seven layer dip.
02:31So I'm gonna spatula in some beans.
02:37You kind of want your sides to be pretty.
02:40So the less mixing you have happen, the better.
02:44I think the best response I've had to this dip
02:47is just people making it for their own,
02:49like friends and fam.
02:54I'm gonna check this,
02:56because it's like really hot behind me.
03:02Did I really delete mayo?
03:04I just like, something about it doesn't look right.
03:06It does have mayo in it.
03:07Should I leave and just like, interrupt myself?
03:12This dip is ready.
03:15I personally feel like gambling
03:16and adding the mayo in now,
03:19and then putting it back in like a Frankenstein dip.
03:22Oh, oh dear.
03:24If you think about it, in the oven,
03:26they were all just gonna get mixed together anyway.
03:27It is already bubbling hot,
03:30so I might only do this for like five minutes
03:32and pretend like that never happened.
03:35Let's go on to the dip that I have not messed up yet.
03:40The corn is not in the OG recipe.
03:43I think you can add corn to almost anything
03:45and it's still delicious.
03:46I wanted a full rainbow in the stripes.
03:49I'm looking at my handiwork and I don't hate it, right?
03:52That looks pretty good.
03:55I'm gonna add the last two layers.
03:58One, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
04:01Wee!
04:03We are making eight layer dip.
04:05Who's to say what's a layer really, you know?
04:08So I'm gonna add the jalapenos.
04:09I think they look cuter on top.
04:13So help me God, this dip is done.
04:16I'm gonna let it chill in there and I can clean up
04:19and then we can do the finishing touches
04:20and reveal all the dips.
04:35The dip that you're all waiting to see,
04:37the hot artichoke dip.
04:39Look at all my dips!
04:41I'm proud of my cheese babies.
04:42They're all gonna be tasty.
04:47Is that as loud as it feels to me?
04:50Tastes good though.
04:53Yeah.
04:57That tastes like childhood.
04:58Like that's so nostalgic.
05:00Which is good, in case I wasn't clear.
05:02That tastes good.
05:03Okay, I am a little nervous to try the artichoke dip.
05:06But here we go.
05:07I'm just gonna, I'm just gonna go in.
05:13Yeah, this tastes right actually.
05:15Okay, this is my new favorite one.
05:17I'm reminded that I do like making these dips
05:19now that I'm seeing them finished.
05:20I think they present so pretty.
05:22In the process, I got a little flustered.
05:25But actually, it proves all the more
05:27that like dips will forgive you.
05:30If you mess up making any of these,
05:32you could just add cheese.
05:33That would be like my asterisk on all of the dips.
05:42I don't know.
