00:00I'm determined to go out and on my way up, and I'm bringing as many women as I can with
00:05me.
00:06Hi, I'm Freddie Harold, London-based French woman.
00:09I'm also the founder of Big Hair.care, a brand of premium afro hair extensions.
00:21I was saying, Freddie, I'm not going to want your hair, and I was like, it's not all mine.
00:24Okay, where can I get it?
00:25So we started as an online shop to do something as a hobby, and then people already took interest.
00:40Black women, we go extra for our hair, catch flights to go there and spend fortunes on this weave.
00:46We joke about this, but it needs to stop.
00:47We already have to do that, to work twice harder, to be noticed.
00:51If you want to give yourself the opportunity to really craft a better life, one of the places to start
00:57is maybe not spend a fortune on your hair.
01:04I've had natural hair for, I'm not sure, I would say maybe eight years.
01:09So relaxers, they came into my life, I was maybe like eight.
01:12Every couple of months, you do your roots, and you just don't have curly hair, you just have sweat hair.
01:18For me in the beginning to really, like, rub my natural hair was much more of a statement.
01:24Now, it's just a part of me, and that's what it should have been this whole time.
01:28Just like that, with this afro, everything, everything fell into place.
01:37I was born in the 93.
01:40I think the 93 is like, maybe like the roughest department.
01:43I think a lot of people wouldn't have bet on how far I've come.
01:49Bringing back Big Hand of Care to Paris in March, where I used to hang out all the time as
01:54a teenager, this was major.
01:57I thought about my younger self a lot, and, you know, I was beaming the whole time.
02:02I was like, oh my god, she would have been so proud, she would have been so happy.
02:11We really have a strong message about edges, keep them safe.
02:16We're anti-glue, anti-sewing, anti-gel, anti-whatever, like, you just leave your edges out and it keeps them
02:24safe.
02:25At the moment, we have two textures.
02:27There's the Zero Drama Queen, which is like the full cotton candy afro.
02:32And then we have the Little Stress Princess, which is like the blown out version.
02:36So straight, but not too straight.
02:37Like, natural hair, you would have blown out.
02:38We have a natural shade, a dark brown shade, and this is our first ombre shade.
02:44In both textures, we have clippings and we have lace-up wigs.
02:47We have extra combs.
02:48We don't want you to spend too much time, spend too much money, or to just spend time to have
02:54skills around hair that you don't want to develop because you're doing other things.
03:05So when people ask me about taking the leap, this is when I feel like a fraud again.
03:10Well, you would hear me saying I feel like a fraud a lot.
03:13We did like two weeks of pre-sales initially to learn so I wouldn't have to borrow money or anything.
03:19You learn on the go.
03:21You have an idea.
03:22Trust yourself.
03:23Trust those hunches.
03:24Trust your gut.
03:26Go for it.
03:26Do the research.
03:27Show up.
03:28Do the work.
03:29Talk to people.
03:29Ask questions.
03:31Get out of your comfort zone.
03:32Get out of your shyness.
03:34And just like you owe it to yourself to just dig deeper into what it is that will make you
03:40happy and more fulfilled.
03:41And then you just bring it out because you have nothing to lose really, do you?
