Senator Jon Ossoff (D-GA) has launched a sharp attack on President Donald Trump over the deployment of federal election monitors to Fulton County, Georgia. Ossoff accused Trump of targeting the county because Black voters played a crucial role in his 2020 election defeat.

Calling Trump a “committed lifelong racist,” Ossoff argued that the role of Black voters in defeating him was even more offensive to the president than losing the election itself.

The remarks have reignited debate over federal election oversight, voting rights, racial politics and Trump's repeated focus on Fulton County. The controversy also brings renewed attention to Georgia's role in the 2020 presidential election and the political battle over election administration.

00:00It's the same reason he's obsessed with Philly.
00:03It's the same reason he's obsessed with Detroit.
00:08It's because for this committed, lifelong racist,
00:12the fact that black voters were instrumental to his defeat
00:15is even more offensive than the defeat itself.
00:20And so he thought he could send federal agents to Georgia to intimidate you.
00:27Please join me in honoring Dr. George French, Clark Atlanta University president.
00:34Please join me in honoring Dr. F. Dubois Bowman Morehouse College president.
00:43Can y'all hear me all the way in the back?
00:48All right, now, just listen up for a second.
00:54Y'all got me?
00:57Because I want to share something with you
01:00that I hope will give you courage
01:04and a sense of the history
01:07that we all are living through
01:10and that we all are making right now.
01:13Because I just had a meeting with my team.
01:16And what they told me is that, by far,
01:21we have already shattered every turnout record
01:25for young voters in a midterm election
01:27in Georgia's history.
01:33Young people are voting and voting early
01:37because young people recognize the stakes
01:40the stakes of this election.
01:44We have had enough of the foolishness,
01:49the corruption,
01:51the incompetence.
02:01And listen, sometimes you don't realize
02:08the magnitude of the moment that you're living in
02:12while you're living in it.
02:13Y'all follow me?
02:16You look back at the long arc of American history
02:22and you think about the people
02:23who took part in powerful movements
02:26and who took action at powerful moments,
02:30pivotal moments,
02:31to make a difference,
02:33to advance the causes of justice and righteousness.
02:38And whether or not you know it
02:40and you feel it every minute of every day right now,
02:43we are living through one of those moments
02:45and you all are rising to this moment.
02:49You all are rising to this moment.
02:54We can't take any more of what's been going on.
03:02Do y'all remember that this man promised
03:05to lower prices on day one?
03:08Y'all remember that?
03:14And just listen to this.
03:16It has never cost more
03:19in American history
03:22to fill up your truck,
03:24to power your home,
03:25to stock your fridge,
03:26to go to the doctor.
03:27Never in American history.
03:31Do you all remember
03:33that he promised to drain the swamp
03:35Do y'all remember that?
03:38Instead, it's the most corrupt administration
03:41of all time
03:42and everybody knows it.
03:43Everybody knows it.
03:45And while you pay more for everything,
03:48the president and his family
03:49are lining their pockets
03:51to betune of billions of dollars.
03:52Have you seen that?
03:58Do y'all remember that he promised peace?
04:02He promised peace.
04:05Instead, they lied us
04:07into yet another war
04:09in the Middle East.
04:10And it's a war
04:11they don't know how to end.
04:13They don't know how to win.
04:1421 Americans have been killed.
04:16Hundreds wounded.
04:18Diesel's at its all-time high.
04:20We can't take any more
04:22of this foolishness,
04:23corruption,
04:24and incompetence.
04:26And the power is ours.
04:28The power is yours
04:31to make a difference.
04:38Did you all see
04:41that he sent
04:44federal agents and spies
04:46to Fulton County, Georgia
04:47to seize your ballots?
04:49Did you see that?
04:58Let me be really blunt.
05:02Because why Fulton County?
05:06Why Fulton County?
05:09It's the same reason
05:11he's obsessed with Philly.
05:13It's the same reason
05:14he's obsessed with Detroit.
05:18It's because for this
05:19committed, lifelong racist,
05:22the fact that black voters
05:23were instrumental
05:24to his defeat
05:25is even more offensive
05:26than the defeat itself.
05:30And so he thought
05:31he could send
05:32federal agents
05:33to Georgia
05:34to intimidate you.
05:39But how foolish of them
05:43to come to the cradle
05:44of the civil rights movement
05:46to launch an attack
05:48on voting rights?
05:52What we are seeing
05:53right now
05:54is that the people's answer
05:56is determined
05:57and defiant
05:58and massive.
05:59And if we do everything
06:01we need to do
06:02for these next five days,
06:03how many of you
06:04have already voted?
06:12I want you to turn
06:13to the person
06:13next to you
06:14and ask,
06:15have you voted yet?
06:24I want you to turn
06:25to the person
06:26next to you
06:26and say,
06:27if you haven't voted yet
06:28we're going to vote
06:29right now.
06:32because if we do
06:35everything we need
06:36to do
06:38for these next
06:39five days,
06:41for these next
06:42five days
06:43we will change
06:44the course
06:45of American
06:46history.
06:50Not only
06:54will we be able
06:55to contain
06:56this man's
06:57wickedness,
07:00but we will
07:01be able
07:02to do
07:02the work
07:03of healing
07:03the brokenness
07:04that gave rise
07:05to him.
07:07We will defend
07:09civil rights
07:10and voting rights
07:11in the state
07:11of Georgia
07:12and across
07:13the country.
07:15We will take
07:17action
07:17to get secret
07:18money
07:18and corporate
07:19money
07:20out of politics.
07:22We will restore
07:23American leadership
07:25for peace
07:26and human rights
07:27around the world.
07:29and we will
07:30act to guarantee
07:31great health
